Long hair 'steals the brain's engergy'
Jan 16th, 2005 at 7:01pm

Now I've heard it all.  North Korea wants everyone to wear their hair short and tidy.  Some of their rationale is that long hair 'consumes a great deal of nutrition'.

Shocked

I might already suffer from reduced intelligence...but isn't the hair supposed to grow in equal speed, no matter whether the growth is cut or not?  ???

When people desire conformity there is no end to the creativity of rational.  This is actually kind of a hoot...g

hmmmm....that article seems to imply that it's only long haired men they're talking about.

Does it not affect women, or does it not matter if women have their brain's energy stolen by their hair?

mabinogi - I'm afraid they don't mention women because women are not "worthy" of mention in their society.

Perhaps the cutting-edge scientists in North Korea have determined that only the male's intelligence is affected by having long hair.

Clearly something has affected their brains.

I guess they believe women are of lesser intelligence to begin with so therefore doesn't matter if they get even dumber.  Roll Eyes Angry

I think this is an issue of conformity. Perhaps they believe that standing out against the crowd can interfere with work habits and progress.

No, actually it's that women are of a greater intelligence to begin with, which is why they can spare more intelligence than the poor, necessarily shorn men.

Sorry if I'm wrong, but I read somewhere else it was so that their country was not 'tainted with Western values' or something like that.
I have seen some Far Eastern people around my town and at my school with obviously treated hair (given that some has been bright orange and others have been severely peroxided) I suppose that it is to make them stand out, but having beautiful, shiny, black hair that is generally poker straight without doing anything makes them stand out anyway!

Many eastern countries have tried to use the "cookie cutter" approach to society.  Everyone should look alike, be alike and there will be no problems.  There might be some truth to the philosophy, but to tell people to cut their hair because long hair reduces their intellience only shows their lack of intelligence.

Sometimes when I read of comments that longhaired people have got from others, it makes me think whether that is true with western societies as well, only in a subtler form. Government doesn't have to tell us to be like everyone else- fashion industry does that.

I see you've made yourself a ticker, Bikerbraid!  Grin Nice!

Yes, the fashion industry would LOVE to have us all follow their trends.  I guess I am a radical - I refuse to follow them - I've always marched to my own drum.

As for the ticker - yes, I am getting anxious to get back out on the road with my bike - I have a LOT of training to do before my 6 day bike trip.

I have also had that "long hair makes you dumb" comment from my mom.She liked my long hair back when it was waistlength as a kid,but as every kid I did some bad or stupid things. So she would threaten to cut my hair. She never did though. Wink
