how can i get my mind off hair?
Mar 17th, 2005 at 1:29pm

its all i think dream, eat, and sleep? everything i eat i think will this be good for hair health and growth? i even dream about myself with my goal length which is rear length. i figure maybe if i just forget about it , it will grow better on its own without me thinking about it 24/7. one time my x hairstylist told me to focus on something else. but how??

Hey, I'm interested in going raw, too! But I'm in the middle of like twenty life transitions and I'm a stressbingeaholic so it's totally NOT working for me right now. But when I get settled...

Anyway, I feel your pain. It's the worst when you've JUST decided to grow your hair out...you get all excited and make all these plans and forget that sometimes hair growns really darn slow. And you're sitting there, going, "Hurry UP, I want you to be long so I can PLAY with you..."

That wears off eventually. I chopped off a miserable failure of a perm last August, was left with three inches of hair, and decided, that's it, I'm growing it out and not screwing with the texture to try to make it fluffier ANY MORE!

A few months later I was staring in the mirror going, "Wow...this is going to take a LONG time..." When reality finally sunk in. Now it's seven months later and my hair is in layers, with the longest layer just past my shoulders and the shortest layer hanging over my eyes. It's a slo-o-o-ow process even for me, and my hair grows like nobody's business.

I think the other thing is that at first we all get so obsessed about doing the best job possible and worry about messing up our hair, so we read and research and obsess about our hair care routines and whatnot.

Eventually you succumb to the reality of how long it is going to take and your hair care routine becomes second nature. Until you reach some milestone or other, I would assume. Like, when my hair gets long enough to put up again, I'll have to start thinking about hairdos.

*shrugs*  Anyway, good luck to you!  Happy

Whoa, I just went to your intro post and saw that you already have very long hair! (Well, to me.) So, I don't know how much of what I just said still applies. LOL. Ah well, I got my rant in for the day.  Happy

I would say if you love it why take your mind off it. Why not start some hair sites yourself or even get into the business of selling hair sticks.

I agree with Rainbow. There's nothing wrong with a positive obsession.  Grin

oh I'm a raw vegan!!! It's fun!! If you have any questions feel free to ask. I went through a year of hard work planning, finding books, products, etc. So I figure i know a pretty good amount on the subject. Otherwise, Im not here to proselytize. Just noticed you mentioned it Smiley)

I was like that too, but it passed after a couple of months...  Tongue Don't worry, you'll be more relaxed with it soon.

It's too bad more ladies are not obsessed with having long hair.  I think there are a lot of ladies in the world with short hair who would look so much better with long hair.

But, I think with you it might be just a phase and you will start thinking of other things sooner or later.

Just don't think of having short hair though Shocked

Now that I think of it though if most ladies were obsessed with having long hair and had long hair it would be hard for me to get any work done at my work if more ladies there had long hair Roll Eyes

I am totally the same - I first cut my long hair down to a pixie cut late in 2006. So all of 2007 was a whirlwind over obsessing about growing it back, finding ways to make it grow faster and constantly checking forums to see if anyone had discovered the magical remedy to make hair longer faster  Roll Eyes. I would also dream about waking up to find my hair had grown long overnight hehe! So when I finally had it shoulder length, on an impulse, I had it all chopped off again. I totally regretted it when I thought about how much energy I had devoted to growing it. This year, I know what to expect (how long it will take to grow, what I can do through the awkward length times etc) and I am not obsessing so much. And this time I know I will not cut it again because I have given short hair a go and its just not me. But still, I am not a patient person and I still obsess a little bit!  Good luck with the growing!  Wink

With the back being less than 2 inches from 20" I've begun to obsess again.  On a good note; I have more good hair days than I did when my hair was shorter.  I guess my hair just likes being long. Smiley  I hope that in 6 months time I'll be past my next trim and still past 20".
