Welcome to the boards!

I know what you mean about not doing an extreme color w/o thinking about what your hair's going to look like afterward.  Last year I did the opposite of you and bleached my black hair blonde.  Well, I tried to.  I already had permanent dye on it so my hair didn't get past an orange-ish shade.  Even though I was happy for a change, now I have about 7 inches of black growth and the rest is an auburn shade from when I dyed my hair in March.  I don't want to cut off my length until my hair is longer so I guess I'm going to stuck with two toned hair for a couple of years.

Anyway, good luck with the color correction!  Since you have to bleach, are you going to see a professional or are you going to do it yourself?

Some lessons hurt more than others, don't they?  On the brighter side, your hair will continue to grow and at least now you know what to do to keep it healthy!  Welcome aboard, by the way, if I didn't say it before.

I am definately going to have a professional do it.  There is just so much that could go wrong.  But at least those pesky layers are gone, and my hair loves jojoba oil. Happy

You'll need to be patient, but your hair will calm down.  I colored my ash blond hair aubern/red for about a year before I decided to grow it out (Dec. '04) and so when I told my stylist, she used a stripper to take the color out.  I should mention that 6 weeks before I made this decision she had deposited a ton of color on my hair.  So, it eventually took 2 sessions of stripping the color to where it was light enough she could put a semi-permanent brown on to blend my new growth.  It worked really well but my hair was so dry it felt like straw.  I nearly panicked.  I was not told how harsh the process was.  I was afraid my hair would stay like straw.  Good news is that it hasn't but I did weekly super deep conditioning treatments for several months which has helped my hair get gradually softer.
I find wearing my hair in a bun also helped my hair look less multi-tonal.
Good Luck!!!

Sakina, do you remember what deep conditioner treatment you used?  My hair is 1cMii and it doesn't get gooey or sticky from -cone products.

Edit:  I accidently deleted my first post :X  I was just griping about dying my blonde hair black.  It's fixed now.  But wow, what a scare!  Wink
