Celebrity Hairstyle Cue?
Aug 27th, 2005 at 5:06pm

All right.. I know a lot of of Hollywood hairstyles can be otherwise fake and... sometimes just ew, but I think there are some lovely style cues we can take from.  So here are my questions:

Do you have a celebrity hair role model?  If so, whom? And what do you like/dislike about their style?

Mine right now is Nicole Kidman.  She seems like the ultimate master of pretty and elegant updos.  Her hair is fairly long (by Hollywood's standards at least) and it always appears feminine and polished.... sometimes long and flowing, other times perfectly coiffed and oh my goodness... don't get me started on her beautiful hair accessories  Wink

I have two -
Jane Seymour and Tyne Daly (before she cut her hair).  I feel both women show how long hair is not a freakish thing on a woman over 40, and it can be worn with style, sophistication, and an example of character.

Hmm, I don't know if I could call Lucy Liu(sp?) and Zhang Ziyi my celebrity hair models, but I like their hair quite a bit. It's nice that they've kept it long for a long time and that they haven't colored it--as far as I know.

Julianne Moore and Gillian Anderson are both icons for me because we are all close in age and have red hair.  Julianne Moore is more of a hair icon for me because she has such great long red hair.  Gillian Anderson is more of style icon.  When I feel I can't find anything that looks good on me I look up pictures of those two and see how they fix their hair, the colors of their makeup and clothing.  Oddly enough I don't think of Debra Messing as a hair or style icon for me, I feel like I have anything in common with her.

I love Jane Seymour.  I really do hope I age as gracefully and as beautifully as she has.  And her hair.. oh!

Juri:
Zhang Ziyi is gorgeous!  Didn't she buzz her hair at some point?  But oh... those gorgeous shiney locks from "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" gave me hair envy for weeks.

ChiliPepper:
Yes, Julianne Moore is a huge influence for me being a redhead as well.  That trademark strawberry blonde color of hers just goes so well with her pale skin.

She buzzed her hair?! If that's the case, I never knew that. It's so long that I wouldn't have guessed!

Nicole Kidman was the first one that popped in my head too.    Zhang Ziyi shaved her head?  Shocked  I love her hair too.  Jennifer Lopez always has the perfect chignons.

Hmm, I know there are others, I just can't think of them.

I also love Nicole Kidman's hair. She has the best hair in Hollywood, to me. Second, is Jennifer Aniston.

I love Liv Tyler's hair.  She's a very elegant looking woman, too.  (Think Lord of the Rings.)

Could you be thinking of Bai Ling for The King and I - shaved her head *gasp* .  Appears she has the kind of hair that just grows like a healthy happy weed though...g

If I had to pick someone to trade noggins with I guess I'd go for Debra Messing - she has the most fabulous head shape - goes straight up high and a low hairline all around too (means more hair).

I have to admit I just love Kidman though - trouble is I can't tell when anyone is wearing their own hair ...g

I mentioned Audrey Hepburn in another thread, but she should go here too.  She was my inspiration when I was learning the French Twist.

They looks so good don't they  Undecided.

She was doing one of those fund raiser specials on Channel 9 and during the interview they asked her and she was totally into "it's the only way to go".

Oh well, I can still enjoy the illusion  Grin...g

I thought Sarah Brightman's hair was 100% natural, too. lol. I remember thinking, "Wow, she must have been growing it forever. I wish my hair looked like that!"

Yes, Demi's hair is beautiful.
She's recently cut it back to about shoulder length, though.
I always thought her hair seemed to grow so fast- she'd have a shaved head one year- and before you know it -it would be waist length!

I LOVED Demi's hair in St. Elmo's Fire.  It was all long and red.  I'm sure it was real - don't think they had extentions back then..?

Charisma Carpenter, 2nd season of Angel before she cut it.  As I watch this season again I just keep begging her not to cut it (as if that would help  Roll Eyes )  I never liked any of her shorter hair styles.  She's grown it out again now to mid-back and it looks lovely.

I started to ask "who is your favorite long hair celebrity?" then I found this thread.  Mine has to be Emmy Lou Harris with her gorgeous long white hair.  I also love Jane Seymour's hair and agree that Tyne Daly had fabulous hair before she cut it on "Watching Amy". I loved to see her take down the bun and braid it for night.  Great scenes.  So, anyone have someone new to add this year?

Anyone see Jane Seymore?

Monday night on "How I Met Your Mother" Jane Seymour appeared as a sex-crazed older woman.  Although her hair is long for women of our age, I was surprised that she is now keeping her hair barely BSL.  It is still red, so she must be coloring it.  She looks fabulous, but I for one was disappointed that she hasn't let her hair grow out.

I too wish Seymour would let her hair grow again :: sigh::   But then, I always respect an individual's right to make their own decision.  Her hair is still gorgeous.

I am not sure Tasha Tudor can be considered a celebrity, but she is to me.   Grin  She is a famous illustrator and herbalist/gardener.  She keeps her hair up a lot and is now 91, but I admire her hair, her drive and her entire lifestyle.

I agree with Jane Seymour and YES Emmy Lou.  She's wonderful.  Cher used to have gorgeous hair.  Not sure how it looks now.  Stevie Nicks used to have pretty hair, but again not sure how hers looks now.  Let's search around the web and find out!

Remember Ted Nugent's hair way back when?  Wow!!
