HELP!!!!!
Aug 30th, 2005 at 2:21am

Hi everyone,
I've been lurking for a bit.
Let me say how much I appreciate the wealth of knowledge shared here.
Here's my situation:
My hair is waist length.
Straight as an arrow.
I oil it regularly with Weleda Rosemary Hair Oil.
I wash it 2-3 times a week.
I use a leave-in conditioner each time.
I use Sebastian laminates serum after the leave-in conditioner.
I use baking soda and shampoo (1/2 &1/2) to clarify once a  month.
I blow dry my bangs, NEVER the rest.
I dye it (roots only) every 2 months or so...black.
My natural color is a dark blonde.
The condition is very good.
My trouble is new hair growth.
It's driving me nuts!
The new hairs are short and they stick out, mainly around the top and sides of my head.
Regardless of what I do (serum, oil, leave-in) I can't seem to get them to lay flat with the rest of my hair.
Any advice/suggestions will be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Ursula

Hi and Welcome Ursula -

I have the same problem and I don't even have the same hair length *drat*.

Have you always had those?  I saw a picture of myself at ten years of age and there they were, so I've resigned myself that it's permanent for me.

If none of your products are new we can't trace the change to that.  The only thing I can think of is did you have a heavy shed at some time during the last year?  In that case it could all be regrowth.

There are really only two possibilities - regrowth or breakage.  Breakage would involve doing something you haven't done before.

Hope we can help ...g

In addition to what Gabi suggests....

changes in hormones(puberty, pregnancy, menopause) can also change the texture of your hair.  I never had short, frizzies until I was prei-menopausal, then developed frizzies everywhere!

I use a bit of jojobal oil to control them, or for extra control, aloe vera gel (the kind without alcohol).

Hi,
Thanks for responding promptly.
Yes, I have gone through a "shed" recently.
I've never had this issue before.
I know that they're new growth.
I'll try the jojoba oil.
I'll let you know how that works for me.
Thanks again,
Ursula

i got i book called Hair trix for cool chix by, Leanne Warrick. anyway, she says to control flyaways, gently smooth a dryer sheet down over your hair- she says "these sheets are designed to kill static in clothes and they'll do the same for your hair. An added treat is the fresh smell they leave behind!"

I use used dryer sheets to pet my cats all the time.  Gets a ton of extra hair without any of the trauma of brushing.
