I finally got to try out my samples of Pantene's new Restoratives line. The formulas that I had were Breakage Defense.

These are quite different from the standart Pantene Pro-V line, from the shape of the bottle to the ingredients.

Both the shampoo & conditioner are blue and smell kind of like green tea.

The shampoo is a transparent Copenhagen blue formula with a delicate and gentle lather. It uses Sodium Laureth and Lauryl Sulfates as its main detergents instead of the usual Ammonium ones. I washed twice with this and it left my hair feeling quite soft.

The conditioner has the rich consistency that Pantene is known for, but only contains one cone. It is a light French blue in colour. I worked this through my hair from the ears down, then put it all up in a shower cap while tending to my other shower duties. My hair felt heavenly after rinsing it out! Not weighed down, but tenderly cared for.

I didn't add many leave-in sprays afterward, so I could get a truer feel for what these new formulas did for my hair. Now I can say that they left my hair feeling softer than it probably ever has in its life! The scent is powerful and lingers the same way that Herbal Essences does.

After just one use, I give these products high marks and would definitely recommend them. Especially if your hair likes a very small amount of cones. All in all, they worked well, though I will probably not change from my current "hair regimen."

Dimethicone is the 5th ingredient in the conditioner.

The shampoo contains no cones.

It's just Dimethicone. Like I said, it's best for people who prefer a small amount of cones. My hair seemed to like it.

I just don't think I want to give up the Daily Moisture Renewal line just yet. 

Ophelia: Works well in my limited experience, but use caution. The conditioner actually did cause that same burning sensation on the back of my neck as Herbal Essences does. 

lol Magz I do the same thing, and just want to kick myself for the momentary lapse of reason.    Plus it becomes habitual after awhile and you find yourself wanting to try something you know won't work as well & trying to convince yourself that somehow "this time" will be different.  

The Restoratives lines are targeted toward frizz and breakage, but I have no doubt that they could give a miracle-like softness to normal hair.

I currently use the DMR line as I have for many years, but if the Breakage Defense (Restoratives) conditioner didn't burn, I would gladly convert. The stuff is awesome.

On a completely unrelated note, I find hair care lines to be so much like lovers, it's not even funny.
   Pantene's Daily Moisture Renewal line is my main (mane?  ) squeeze - we have our "tiffs" every now & again but for the most part, we're in it for the long haul. It represents the best of the good and the least of the bad qualities.
   Herbal Essences is the fun, sexy & exciting "fling" that offers no substance. One irresistable quality, but no good to me at all. In time the one quality that seemed so irresistable at first totally loses its appeal because I know the torture that goes along with it.
   Pantene Restoratives represents the richer, flashier, more debonaire suitor who has more to offer in the long run, but comes with one toxic flaw that could destroy the entire picture.

*sigh* I guess in products as well as love, there's no such thing as perfect.

Oh, how true Angel Spun, how true!

I know I've been talking about the restoratives line in my journal, but thought I should post it here.  So, yeah, I had to run right out & buy it...a new Pantene product...are you kidding?  I practically flew out to get it!  I've been addicted to Pantene since I'm old enough to care about my hair!

As Angel described, the first thing that grabbed me was the perty blue color, and then I had to smell it...of course, mmmmmmmmmm!  Fa-ruity!  Then I savored the moments as I massaged it into my hair with utmost care and rinsed- all the while running my hands over my hair to feel for any "differences".  My hair was left feeling very soft and smooth, nice!

The only drawback, for my hair anyhow, is that I cannot use it every single day, gets a bit too heavy, good for the cold winter weather here, though.  So I'm flipping and flopping back & forth between the Breakage Defense, and the Daily Moisture Renewal line, using the Purity once a week to clarify.  That's my routine, and I'm stickin' to it...for now.    Until they come out with a pertier, shinier new product!

It´s a relief to hear that!!!I´ve tried to find out more about what happened in Sweden...apparently when the schampoo PRO-V was first introduced, some hairdresser said that the PRO-V schampoo could cause hairloss...and this scared away all consumers.

I rely and you guys a lot more!!!!I´ll definetly buy that product if I ever come across it.

I use pantene restoratives shampoo but not for conditioner I just use the regular Pantene line for anti-frizz.  I like both and find they help my hair.  They too only have Dimethicone, but I don't know if it is a water-soluble one or not.  I will definitely look for restorative conditioners as well.

Pantene did work for me as well, but I wanted to try the curly girl method. My hair seems to love the cone and sulfate free way!

I used to avoid Pantene products because others complained that they were too heavy and left their hair greasy.  I find that they have something in them, possibly those cones that help keep my hair looking smoother and more manageable than other brands.  I use Schwarzkopf Gliss products too, they have a similar effect on my hair.  I actually appreciate products that smooth and weigh my hair down without it being greasy.  I've never had the greasy problem with any products though.

I have been using the breakage defence shampoo + conditioner for about a month now and have been really happy with it.  However, I did try the time renewal products for a few days earlier this week and was really disappointed with it.

My hair seemed to react very differently to it compared to breakage defence - it was a lot more fly-away and much less soft and smooth

So, I've reverted back to breakage defence.  That experiment is over and done with!

*Sigh* Now I have two, practically full, bottles of shampoo + conditioner - so annoying that I cannot buy sample sizes
