messy buns
Mar 7th, 2007 at 6:00pm

Ok spring is here and summer is coming.  As I have probably said before, my hair is thigh length and thick.  So--how can I make a messy bun w/it?  I am not hair talented.  I have been searching the web and none their ideas seem to fit my hairs length or thickness, so I came here knowing there is lots of good info.  I want to keep it from becoming sunburnt and yet be casual and cute.

Messy buns are usually made by letting the ends stick out of the bun.  With hair your length, it will probably be difficult to do that.  You could try doing a knotted bun and leave the ends coming out of the knot.  If your hair is too long to knot your hair just once, try chaining your hair and pull the ends through the last chain, then bun the chain and leave the ends sticking out.

The only other way I can think of to get the ends sticking out would be with a French twist/roll and let the ends stick out the top.

good luck!

While my hair is no where near as long as yours, it is thick.  Even at shoulder lenght it can be a lot to manage when making any type of updo.  Try separating your hair into a couple of bun.  Whatever you figure out, I hope you'll post pictures!!

Second thought-braid the start of your hair and then bun it, or braid the whole thing, bun it and leave a decent tassel, fan it out and pin.

I love these ideas!  Please keep posting everyone!  It really helps when you are going through a "ho-hum" hair phase like I have been having lately.  Many thanks again!
