My curls are returning
Apr 24th, 2007 at 1:32pm

I washed my hair and let air dry yesterday.  I have been letting it air dry now for a couple of years.  I noticed that my hair is returning back to its curly self due to better care. Some sections had been doing this, but not all of the head.  Well, now I am officially curly again.  But here is the problem.  After allowing my hair to dry, I want to comb it.  If I comb it, then it frizzis, some sections go straight  Cry.  I want it to stay curly even after I have combed it.  What do I do?  I have tried a mixture of olive oil and water in a spray bottle and spraying that on the frizzie/straight area, but that doesnt seem to be working.  Please dont suggest that I not comb it cuz it gets sooo matted if I dont.
Then when I do comb I lose a lot of hair due to breakage.  Yucky!!  Any ideas?

Thanx, Debr

I find that I get more curls with WO. Try fingercombing or a tree comb from Body Shop. Carry a spray with water and aloe vera gel in it. If you have many curls, caryying them in a hairnet for a while before going out can help.

Hope you can use any of my advice.Good luck!!

Try combing your hair before it is completely dry.  This will remove the tangles, but still allow the curls to stay defined and minimize the frizz.  Once dry, finger combing or using a hair pic instead of a comb should help preventing frizzies.

Giving your hair a quick spritz of water can help renew the curls too.

Try finger combing your conditioner through your hair including the hair at the scalp.  This should keep your curls from clumping together, which is bad for them (causes damage).

I suggest using Ouidad's moisturizing gel, scrunching it into your hair after its washed and then not touching your hair for 1 hour, this will help set your curls.  From there you can scrunch or finger comb as you like.  I use this gel everytime I wash and it keeps the frizzies away and gives my waves beautiful definition.

Good Luck!!!

OK, FataMorgana, what is the ratio of aloe vera gel to water?  What kind of aloe vera gel? Where can I get it?  Also, finger combing as opposed to comb combing?  That sounds like a good idea.  I do some minor (not much) finger combing now.  Would I quit using a comb altogether?

Thanx Debr
