Lisabella, I will tell you, it is one of those things the gov't never got right.  Ony 2/3 of the country got switched over to the pic id.  This was not intentional, they just missed that many people.  The result is that those of us who are using  the correct cards have to renew them every 5 years while 1/3 of the population is still using outdated cards.  It really is crazy.  How they missed so many people is beyond me but if they could not get that right, imagine how much health insurance fraud is going on.  Funny thing though, they never miss you if you don't do your taxes, etc!!!

Well, to heck with the diet today!!  Today is a day of celebration for me.  After being off work almost 8 months due to illness, my doc told me I can go back to work in a month...assuming the new meds go well!!!  I have decided that the reverse to the placibo effect is in order here, I AM going to do well on the new meds.

I am soooo happy Grin.  I miss work.  Yes, it will take me a couple of years to pay off the debt I have taken on...but the longer I am out, the more I will owe.  Yes, it will be intimidating to go back...but hey...when I was off work for 3 years and told I would never go back I had to go back into a new job with new people.  At least this time I am going back to people I know and people who care.  In fact, to give credit to my work mates, when I was in hospital, they bought me a small screen DVD player to watch movies on (plus 5 movies) and made sure that one of them came to see me each day for 3 months!!!!  I LOVE my work and my work group!!!  I am a lucky girl.

I have  a million things I want to get done around the house before I go back to work (dry wall the garage, seal the garage floor, put up shelves in the garage, prime the basement walls, dig new flower beds, finish painting the house...etc).  My friends and work mates are soooo cool, they told me (since my hubby is away for 2 months minimum due to work and I have jobs I cannot do alone) that they will come and help me on weekends in shifts (as in 3 or 4 at a time).

On the hair front...nothing new to report.  Sorry since I know that is what we are really here for.

I am just a happy woman today...too bad I cannot lose 40 lbs in 1 month...or even 20 for that matter!!

Ok, I am going crazy here.  I am desperately trying to change my photo of the little dog to a photo of my Joey (hence the screen name).  I have spent about 30 minutes trying...any help would be appreciated!!!!

So, I am declaring war on my psoriasis, now I am off the meds that made it so bad.  I am slopping cream on the patches on my skin and living with greasy hair as I use the oil with corticosteroids added prescribed to me.  Them there are the terrible shampoo sessions with tar shampoo.  Yuk.  Still, I will live with greasy hair and stuff for two weeks if I can beat this flaking and itching out of my life!!

Actually, while the shampoo is nasty and I have not liked the oil stuff because of the greasy hair, I have found that using and AVC rinse takes away the greasiness and my hair ends up looking great once shampooed...until I grease again, which is pretty much as soon as it dries.  I have to oil it twice a day and leave it in for 12 hours.  Once a day I use the tar shampoo after an AVC rinse.  Sooo, while it makes my hair very greasy...I am trying to find out what the oil is that they use as a carrier.  I have not had any luck yet but have contacted the company to find out...since some of you might want to try it...if you can tolerate washing out after a night in a shower cap.  I find it works better than anything I use for soft, shiney hair, even if it is medicinal (sp?).

I bought a new boar bristle palm brush today to keep in my purse once I go to work again.  I hate it.  It is too soft even for my fine hair.  Oh well, live and learn I guess.

I have a really nice wide tooth comb from Burt Bees and I have been looking to buy another one to keep at work since I usually run at lunch and then shower at work.  Sadly, it seems it was a promotional thing and I have not been able to find anything like it since.  I am open to suggestions from anyone.

Tomorrow I get back to the diet.  I wish I could magically lose at least half of it by the time I go back to work.  I suppose I could if I used a fad diet but I don't do those.  I would only pack it back on again if I did that.

Tomorrow I am at the folks (delayed today due to rain as they wanted me to BBQ for them and do some chain sawing) and will ask mom to measure my hair.  I cannot do it alone.

Have a great weekend folks.

Is the comb for wet hair or dry hair?  If it is for wet hair, you might want to consider a wide tooth comb made out of celluloid(?)make sure the seams are smooth though!  Conair and a host of others put out good ones.  Try the Body Shop, too!  Some members have gotten theirs there and really like them.
If it is for dry hair, well Ric the combmaker is the best if not one of the best!!! You can even get your name on it!  Hopes that helps some!

Thanx for your response Curly.  I guess I need one for each....I did not know it made a difference to be honest.  How come?

Ric the comb maker?  Is there a website I should link into?

Funny you should mention the Body Shop.  I was just on their website.  Guess I will go back and have a look.  Thanx.

Hey, I'm glad you're getting to go back to work! Also that you managed to get the avatar to work, that is one seriously pretty pup. Is he a border collie?

Hey Kiraela,  I was just getting to coming on my journal and thanking you for your easy to follow instructions for creating an avatar.  Yes, it is one of my bordercollies.  He is the real Joey Dog.  1992 is the year he was born...he sadly will not be with me much longer.  And thank you for the compliment.  I think he is a real cutey but I am a little biased.

Thank you everyone for the support about me going back to work.  I can't wait.  Then again, I can.  It is a nerve racking idea, but my life will be much happier and fuller once I am back...although my dogs are not convinced!!!  I had to break it to them gently with a dentabone. Grin

Went and did the stuff at the folks and intended on cutting my grass, and all that out door maintenance stuff today, but it started to pour rain on my way home and has not stopped.  Perhaps I will get a chance tomorrow although the forecast is for rain for the next couple of days.

Th psorisais war continues.  Obviously, no big change yet, expept that the keys on my laptop are getting oiled from the greasy stuff that is on my hair and gets onto my fingers when I play with it (must stop doing that).  Still, this is the way that it will be for a couple of weeks until I win the war.

Hair - greasy...what can I say.

Take care all!!!

I have a question for you people that are wiser than me with hair.  I could not find an appropriate place to put this...so here it is in my journal.

If any of you have read my last couple of entries, you know I have to lie with greasy hair, 24/7 for probably 2 weeks.  It is already driving me nuts so I have used a scrunchy to tie it up in a ponytail/bun.  I don't want this grease on my face and clothes for the next 2 weeks!!!  So, the question is...do any of you wash your scrunchies and how does it work out with the elastic.  I presume cold water to save the elastic.

And as a complete aside, how do I get the oil off my keys on my key board?  Gawd this stinks!!!

I wanted to see if I could manage getting a photo in my text.  If this worked, here is a REAL CAT that I met in the Dominican Republic.  He is only 2 years old  (will still grow a lot) and weighed over 200 lbs.  He was amazing...dogs don't want me to bring him home though, much less my kitties.  And yes, i did take this photo.

Cute Joey Dog!!  I had a dog as a kid that looked a lot like Joey, brought back happy memories.

Love the tiger-did you pet him?  I've always wondered how their hair compares to a domestic cat's.

***super good secret alert***

My secret for getting oil out of anything (fabric and off skin) is....

water and baking soda

Impressive, eh??

I don't measure it, just throw it into the wash machine along with the detergent and then add the clothes.  I think you could add your scruchies and just let 'em air dry.
Mix some warm water and baking soda and wash your face if you get the oil on it.  I've never used it on my face, I don't know if you'll need to use your regular cleanser after but I'm sure you'll want to moisturize.

Let us know how it goes!!!!
