Not a repunzel anymore
Jun 11th, 2007 at 3:42pm

I dont think I am a repunzel anymore cuz I cut my hair back to 37inches.  It no longer covers my bum, doesnt even hide the panty lines any longer.  But that is ok cuz it is healthier now.  I was sooo glad to get rid of those wispy ends.  They were really bothering me.  Yipeee, great day in the morning.   Grin Grin Grin.

37 inches? Wow!  Shocked

I'd say that still qualifies as a Rapunzel!

Thanks  I feel better now.  After my hair being past "panty line" it looks rather short.  I know tho it was healthier to do this.  Now if it would grow back to that length in a day or two, I would be sooo excited  Grin.

Hey!  37" sounds very long still to me!   How much did you cut?  You should show us a picture of your long locks.  Maybe it will grow back even thicker!

Hi Kireala,  yep, I agree with you.  My hair has already lost that "just cut look" on the ends.

Hi Blondstorm,  I think I can get pictures, but I dont have anyway of getting them on here.  I dont have access to a scanner or even know how to use one.  Sorry.  I cut off about 3 1/2 inches.  I have been doing this cutting back thing since about last sept.  I finally got the courage to take off all the damage.  It is a whole lot healthier now.  I also am trying the morrocco method of hair cutting to see if that has an effect on my hair growth.  Even tho I already grow an inch a month.  I am greedy I guess.

Debr, if you don't have a digital camera, the next best thing is to go to either walmart or (i think) walgreens to get your film developed - they will give you the option of getting the pictures put on a CD. When you get home, pop in the CD, get yourself a photobucket account, upload some pictures, and where it gives you the various urls under the photo, copy the [img] tag one, and post here!

Hi Joanna, thanks!  Since about June 07, I have been trimming my hair so that the nape and canopy become 1 length and to remove damage from ignorance.  As of today, my hairs length is 40 inches.  It looks as though it has only grown 3 inches since June, but with all the cutting (amount unknown), it would be a great deal longer.

Yes Debr,

I have to agree with the rest.  37inches is still a hell of a lot of hair than what I have.  To me you are still considered a rapunzel.

You're welcome Debr  Smiley

I mean, right now I would kill to have 37 inches or 40 inches of hair right now!!!!  3 1/2 inches does look and sound like a lot but in the end like you said, "Your hair is now is very much more healthier than it was before," and it is growing faster and thicker.  Since I've been a member of this board and have read lots of posts and have learned more about hair care on the long hair websites I have decided not to trim or cut as much as I use to many years ago.  I mean, when I was in high school growing my hair out long I never did believe in trimming my ends.  I hardly ever had to get them trimmed in the first place.  That's because I really took good care of my hair and it's ends, and I had chemically-treated hair at the time, and I still do.  I guess I always will have chemically-treated hair until the day I die.

I have to because my hair is soooooooo hard to manage with being naturally curly.  I think I'd rather my hair straight, flat, and fine rather than puffy, thick, and parched looking.  I mean, I don't want it too thin or fine to the point of looking like I'm going through any hair loss but I want it healthy looking and feeling but fine or fine/thick texture.  With my curly unruly hair I try to find all kind of ways to straighten it and keep it straight.  Even with my relaxed hair I still get lots of puffiness and frizz.  So, when that happens I take the flat-iron and flat-iron it  but not very often though.  I only do that once or twice a week.

I sure wish that I had a nearby real life friend like you with that amount of hair!!! I have a friend that I met at my church that can grow 50 inches of hair but she moved to NY, and she hasn't had hair that long in 20 years I think, and this is a female.  She is 40 years old now I think.  One day she called me on the phone after it had been 20 years seeing and talking to her, and as I was making a comment about how I admired her long brown hair and the length of it over the years she started out telling me that her her hair has never been 50 inches in her whole entire life.  She said that the longest her hair has ever been in her life was down her back, and she said that wasn't even waist length.  I think it was.  I honestly think she's lying, and me and her had this conversation a little over a year ago.  I definitely her being the one with waist length hair, and 50 inches  of hair!!!!  She said that I remember her as having shoulder length hair.

That is not true. I remember her as having waist length and 50 inches of hair.  I think she is having a very hard time of appreciating long hair and superlong hair.  She told me in our last phone conversation that from now on she is going to maintain her hair at shoulder length.  When we were on the subject of long hair she asked me, "What can you do with 50 inches or waist length hair?"  And my reply was, "You can do a lot of that amount of hair!!!"  And then she cut me off and said, "Length doesn't matter."  Well, I thought to myself, "Well, it matters to me."  I really didn't like her attitude about long hair that day.  But for a whole year up until now I've been trying for the life of me figure and think of which other girl could possibly have hair that long at our church?  And everytime I think about it she comes to my mind.  She is the only one I knew 20something years ago with hair that long.  I've never seen any other person with hair that long, and not only that she made a smart comment saying, "The only people you see with 50 inches of hair or longer is Indians and Chinese,." and my response was, "That's true  but whoever I saw flinging their floor length or 50 inches of hair wasn't or didn't look Indian to me.  They looked like a very light-skinned or very high yellowed person.
