EVOO how?
Jun 23rd, 2007 at 3:35pm

I'm going to start using EVOO, but don't know if I should mix it with anything?  Do you just rinse until its out, or do you shampoo afterwards?

Hi Roomtogrow,  I sleep in my oil.  I apply it ends first, then general body of hair, but NOT to the scalp as mine is oily enuf.  Then I put a towel on my pillow, and go to bed.  I just leave my hair loose at nite.  Then the next morning in the shower I wash it out, it takes 2 latherings with my current shampoo.  I follow with an ACV rinse (3 cups cold water, 1/2 cup acv vinegar).  Then condish(leave on during shower) final rinse. Wrap towel for a few minutes. Comb out, VIOLA!!!   Nice soft hair.

Another overnight oiler here. Though, I only do overnight EVOO treatments when I know that I'll be washing all of my hair the next morning, not just doing a CWC.
I load up the length of my hair with the EVOO (none on the scalp) and put on a satin sleeping cap so the oil doesn't touch my pillowcases or my skin. It's kind of like sleeping in a soft shower cap.
Anyway, the next morning, I pull off the cap and run a seamless comb through my hair before getting into the shower. All of the oil comes out in one washing for me. Then I finish my shower as usual...condition, treat, etc.

I have also used EVOO in place of baby oil in the oil spray solution that I use on the ends of my hair, but that makes for some seriously greasy ends, as EVOO is very thick and heavy. Also, I have just dry oiled with it like everyone else here does. Just a teensy amount - like less than a drop - in the palm of your hand, then rub palms together and run them down the length of your hair, concentrating on the ends. My hair is usually pretty greasy after doing this as well, so I just weave it into a braid and forget about it.

EVOO is a very pure oil, so you shouldn't need to mix it with anything unless you're making an oil spray for misting, etc. In which case, you can take just a teeny amount of EVOO and mix it with aloe vera gel or other oils and a whole lot of water, then shake it up.

Anyway, didn't mean to ramble. Hope this helps a bit.

oh, so you don't need to mix it and you do wear it over night.  believe it or not, without your tips, i may have rubbed it on the scalp too, which probably would be too greasy. thanks ladies! i will give this a try overnight. i still haven't tried the vinegar rinse either, so i can try that soon too. yeah!

I find that gets a good start for getting the oils out...then just one quick shampoo...guess it will depend on hair types though...Let us know how it goes.

I love to cook with EVOO but only have put it on my hair once so far.  I might try it overnight but i would have to get some sort of cap first I think O_O
I was brushing my hair a few days ago though and the length of it seemed sort of dry and frizzed out, so I ran to the kitchen and just barely coated the palm of my hand with EVOO and then fingured and brushed it in, and then braided, my hair was shiney and not dry.

Some peopel say it's too heavy to not wash out, but I think it depends on your hair, it was a good quick-fix for me when my hair was too dry.
