Chlorine
Aug 12th, 2007 at 4:21pm

I know it's probably best not to get your hair in Chlorine to begin with, but I've been swimming this week a few times. I was wondering if anyone knew the best shampoo to remove Chlorine from your hair?

My hair has really improved, and I'm just trying to keep it up, I don't want to mess up now.

I'm scared that the Chlorine is going to dry my hair out.

Before you get into the pool, wet your hair thouroughly with water.  You might then want to either put conditioner on, or oil and you may want to cover your length with a shower cap or plastic bag.

www.ouidad.com makes a shampoo for swimmers (I think its called Water Works) but I think any shampoo would do, probably something moisturizing is best.  Rinse real good before washing and get a good moisturizing conditioner.

Good Luck!!!

Chlorine is very drying on hair.  As Sakina mentioned, wetting the hair with clean water before entering the chlorinated water will help.  As extra prevention, you could use some oil or conditioner on your hair to make sure it is fullof moisture and unable to soak up the bad water.  When done swimming, a good rinsing is necessary.  There are a number ofproducts on the market now for swimmers, but the best I ever found was Aussie Mega shampoo.  This is a good clarifying shampoo.  Always follow up with a conditioning.

Depending on how long your hair is, you might consider wearing a swim cap to minimize the contact with the bad water.  Another method is to put your hair into a bun that is on top of your head, then put a plastic bag over the bun and secure tightly.  This can help keep the water from at least the length of your hair.

Swimming is a great activity - so don't give it up for your hair.  You can still have great hair and swim.  Smiley
