Another use for jojoba and rosemary!
Oct 10th, 2007 at 9:00am

This has probably been mentioned before, but I'll go ahead and write it up anyway in case anyone missed it.

I am on an epic quest to tame my curls without adding too much gunk, and last night I had an idea which has shown surprising results this morning.

After reading many recipes on this site, and examining my essential oil bottles for inspiration, I remembered reading about how Rosemary is great for dry hair and scalp, and many ladies use various types of oils in small amounts as a leave in... So I thought, well, why don't I try some Rosemary and Jojoba (filtered is all I have) in lieu of my usual Alcohol-saturated Biosilk?

I mixed about 2 tablespoons of jojoba with about 10 drops of rosemary (I was winging it) and just a few drops of lavender because I love it for everything, and shook it up in a little bottle.

I washed and conditioned as usual, towel dried my hair (added a little infusium leave in, dried again) and poured a little in my hand and began working it through my whole head, root to tip….I probably used about a tablespoon, it went a lot farther than I expected….it soaked into my hair so well in fact, that that it was actually hard to tell when I had enough and I almost over-did it.

I went to bed, and when I woke up my curls were both soft and voluptuous without being overly frizzy and falling apart. Biosilk tends to weigh my curls down into more of a sleek look, but the jojoba and rosemary seemed to lift them up.

I was able to do my hair this morning without any additional product, and I really like how it turned out. The jojoba provided me with a more care-free style and volume than my usual heavy Grecian Goddess curls (Okay, I’m not actually Greek, but that is what I have been told my hair looks like). It was definitely a worthy experiment, and something I plan to repeat!
