green streaks in dark hair
Feb 6th, 2008 at 2:47pm

I've been turning over the idea to put dark forest green streaks in my hair (it's my favorite color). What would be the best way to do it? I've never dyed or bleached my hair. I have thick, coarse, very dark brown hair.

I was thinking streaks on the underside so that it wouldn't be terribly noticable and I could hide it easily for a job interview or something. I assume I would have to lighten my hair first before dying it, is there a "gentle" way to do this?

I was also thinking maybe I could get clip-in hair pieces, so I can take them in and out as wanted. Anyone used those? Is there a place I could get green ones that aren't florescent lime green?!

thanks!  Cheesy

Just-above-shoulder-length, dark brown, thick, wavy-frizzy hair. &&I had butt-length hair through high school, shaved it ALL off in college, have shaved it twice since, and now intend to grow it butt-length again. xD

No. When adding unnatural colors to your hair, the hair that's going to be streaked must be bleached first and then dyed to the color of choice. You probably already know that bleaching is terribly damaging. As is coloring.

And I have never seen the clip-in hairpieces in just a regular green. Perhaps if you were to find them in the usual neon green and then color them in some way...? Not sure.  Huh

If you didn't want to actually color your hair, would just a green hairtoy work?

There are some folks on Etsy.com that could make you clip-ons in your choice of colors. Here's a few makers:

http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=9389254

You can do a search for others on their search engine.
