Hi folks.

Hair: I figured with all the experimenting I am doing, it would be a good idea to track what I'm doing - then I'll know what works!   Smiley

So, it was two weeks ago I swore off my hair dryer and flat and curling irons.  Except for my bangs - they are totally unruly without being dried and I'm not ready to grow them out yet. I went through mild anxiety attacks leaving the house without "doing" my hair, but I got used to it. I figured out my hair works well with -cones, but the other things I was using on my hair had WAY TOO many alcohol ingredients - so those have been pushed to the back of the cabinet until I crawl under there to get rid of them.

Last Friday (5/16) I used Manic Panic's Ultra Violet for two hours - I love the purple/black color my hair gets.  I must have missed the end saturation, but now I have shades of red, purple and black.  Not bad!!  Wink

I bought my first bottle of jojoba oil two nights ago.  I don't have anything to wrap my hair in yet, so I didn't oil before bed.  I sectioned my hair yesterday morning, oiled and braided the sides back and went to work.  When I got home last night, I oiled and braided the rest of my hair, then three hours later, I went to bed.  I figured by then the oil had pretty well soaked in, and there wasn't any oil on my pillowcase this morning.

This morning, I washed with color safe shampoo, then used a small amount of Pantene Color Safe conditioner.

Because of the *lovely* rainy cloudy day outside, I had to give up the dream of straight hair today.  Well, my curls started, and then they frizzed.  I refused to leave the house like that, so I put a little more oil on the ends, and the frizzies were controlled.  But now my hair still looks wet.  It doesn't feel heavy or greasy, but I think it kinda looks like it. Embarrassed  I'm going to try to wash it again when I get home and see if I can braid it again to tame it to go out tonight.

In other news: my friends in the band are in town for this weekend, so I don't have the option of hiding at home with bad hair.  One of my guy friends asked me to explain my "mild goth" side to him.  I told him I haven't figured it out yet, but when I do, I'll let him know!

Any of you prayer warriors out there, I have a friend taken to the hospital two days ago.  They are not sure why she is sick, and they are trying to figure it out.  Today they start testing her heart.

guys: this is not really a subject for me.  Had my eye on a singer, but was completely blown off last week.   Sad  But, it's his loss!!   Cool

school: Gotta write another program this week - it's due Saturday (ooo - that's tomorrow!! Shocked).  I'm hoping to spend an hour or so on it tonight, and then all day Saturday until it's done.  My Math class doesn't officially start for another week, but I'll get the 2nd chapter finished anyway, so there is no pressure.

I love learning from all you Rapunzels, and someday I hope to join the ranks!

Oil can cause dyed hair to fade quickly.  Deep conditioners might be a better choice since you color your hair at this time.

I hope your friend is OK.

Weird for us to have a gloomy day, huh?  I'm glad it rained though.

Congrats on starting your journal!

OOPS!  I forgot about the oil removing color.  I'll have to hold off for a while then.   Smiley
Thanks Sakina!

It's odd for us to have rain, but it's nice because it doesn't happen too often.
It's pouring right now!!!   Grin  Smiley
But it reaks havoc on my hair.  Maybe if I were to just accept that I have sorta curly hair it wouldn't drive me so crazy!

Yes, acceptance of your hair's natural state is the most positive step you can take in the journey toward long hair.

Humidity makes hair frizz out, especially if it's naturally curly or wavy. Since your hair is colored, you should stay away from oils. Instead, try working an anti-frizz serum through your hair or a gel that fights humidity. If you want to go the natural route, try pure aloe vera gel.  Smiley

You could also try braiding your hair if the frizzies bother you that badly. That's what I do with my hair when it rains. I'm a natural straightie, but humidity likes to have its way with my locks as well.  Roll Eyes  C'est la vie.

BTW, it's raining where I live too.  Wink

Today is looking so beautiful!  We had a wonderful weekend - hopefully the weather will hold again.

Hair:  It was a busy weekend!  I used the anti-frizz serum Friday night and Sunday morning after a gentle wash.  Last night I rubbed (lightly) Midnight Expressions conditioner into my length and braided it.  This morning was a color safe wash with another application of Midnight Expressions.  I'm slowly accepting my waves.  Cool  Three people this weekend pointed out how shiny my hair is and asked what I used on it!  I told them "More importantly, I DON'T use hairdryers or irons on it anymore!"   Smiley

In other news: My friend was released from the hospital Friday evening!  The doctor is "guessing" she had a bacterial infection.  But she's home and feeling much better!

The guys have left, and won't be back until August!!  Cry  I'll see them in Text Land, but still....

On the drive home on Friday, my truck decided it wasn't going to like first and second gear, so it's being towed to the shop this morning.  Fingers crossed!!

guys: Saw the singer at the show this weekend.  Had his arm around a girl that later turned out to be our waitress.  Now I know why he wasn't attracted to me!  Tongue  She and I have are NOTHING alike.  But he made a point of coming over to tell me that his band is getting back together and would I come see them play?  Sure!   Roll Eyes  Dream on, dude.

School: Wrote the program on Saturday - took me 5 hours!! Sad  I'm still not sure if it's right, but it's done...  I have another one to write this week.  I'm hoping to figure this out soon!  The math class is going ok - doing homework problems on my breaks at work and studying for the next test.  What else is new?   Wink

Ohhh boy. Honey, having been in the music circuit my whole life, let me offer you a little unsolicited advice: Avoid lead singers. They are 99.99999% of the time the most screwed up ones in the bunch. Lead guitarists and drummers follow closely behind. But male musicians on the whole are usually total players. They can steal your heart with their talents and break it just as easily with blatant disregard.

Glad to hear that your friend is feeling better. I know I've prayed for her at least once.

Thanks for the advice Angel Spun!  I obviously need all the help I can get!   Smiley
I wasn't looking to spend the rest of my life with this one, but he had shown interest in me before, so I was considering it, and then I gave up on the idea.  I don't need "singer drama" in my life!   Cool

Thank you for the prayers for my friend - she is back at work after a long resting weekend.  She's feeling better, but is still kinda tired.

But, according to your list, you only leave bass-players!?  Is that our only choice?   Wink  What about maybe, the bartender?

Thank you again!!

hehe No problem, hunnay. And don't we all??  Grin

Of course the singer showed interest in you. He probably shows the same interest to every girl he meets! Don't take it personally. There's probably nothing about you specifically that interests him...just the fact that you're female and you happen to be around at the time.

Bass players are likely to be the least %#$&ed up band members...but that doesn't mean they aren't %#$&ed up. I fall back to the "all male musicians are total players" rule. Read back far enough in my journal from last year and you'll find my personal experience with a bass player affectionately nicknamed Mr. Clueless by the ladies of this site.  Grin

Not saying that you can't crush on the boys in the band if that's your thing. Just thought I'd offer a little warning (in case that really is your thing) about the typical bs that goes with it. It's a block that I'm unfortunately familiar with.  Undecided

Anywho, my journal this year relates experiences with a drummer and a bartender, if you're interested.  Roll Eyes

All the best to your friend. I hope and pray that she recovers completely and that the 2 of you are hanging out, catching up, giggling and gabbing like silly teenagers at the mall very soon. lol Cheers!

Holy cow it's Thursday!!  Shocked

Hair: Yesterday was a no wash day.  Hair was up in a claw of death until going to Munchkin's high school graduation.  I braided my sides back and pinned them together.  Then I did a basic braid and incorporated the tail of the sides into it.  The entire thing was polished with Midnight Expressions rubbed in first.  My braids were so shiny!!  I didn't bother to take it all down before I went to bed.  This morning was a wash with color safe shampoo and conditioner.  Then, I reapplied the conditioner when hair was almost dry and re-braided the sides back.  My hair is just loving all this moisture!!  I am going to start practicing the crown braid.  I used to corn row my own hair (back in my wilder days), so I think I can get the idea, and I'll love the shoulders I get from all the practice!   Smiley

guys: I'm going to say this isn't really a topic until someone comes along, and I don't see that happening for a while.

In other news & school: Turns out the truck was just really, really low on clutch fluid.  My brother gave me that "You silly girl" grin and promised to teach me how to check it so that this wouldn't happen again.  Still no lesson!!   Roll Eyes  But, he feels silly for not teaching me that yet too.

My little nephew's birthday party is Saturday.   Smiley  I was drafted to make the Spiderman cake, which means sometime before midnight on Saturday I have to write my program, bake this cake and decorate it.  But it's for Little Man, so I'll do it.

Hair: Tried Garnier Long & Strong leave in conditioner before the braids last night.  I think it just made it smell good!    Smiley   Washed and conditioned this morning with Midnight Expressions.  I think my purple is all gone now. Sad  Probably from that stupid encounter with the oil.  But....  I've learned.   Nothing special today.  More leave-in conditioner on wet waves this morning, and pulled the top and side into a mini-claw of death.  I bought a new comb yesterday - this one said that it was made of ceramic and was charged with positive ions to reduct static? It's got really wide smooth teeth and it's pretty.  It was a dollar.  I bought new sponge spiral curlers yesterday - they were a dollar too Smiley.  As soon as I get the energy to try them - I'll post the pics!   Smiley  Before I make another silly mistake - wet hair, use aloe vera gel (or another hair-friendly gel), roll hair, then let dry, then.... more gel or anti-frizz serum?

School: well, I got a 95% on my math test, but my programming instructor told me to re-do my last TWO programs!   Shocked  He said that while I did get to the desired answer, I did not do it the correct way. (Oh - and it's OK to retake that test that I got a 40% on too!)  Guess what I'll be doing while the conditioner sits on my braids each night for the rest of the week?!

In other news: Little Man's birthday was up and down.  The cake I made was a disaster!  My first attempt at Special Angel Food was a nightmare.  But I decorated it (cuz I didn't know what it tasted like) and took it to the party.  It was beautiful!  Got lots of compliments on it!!  Until they tried to cut it....  Embarrassed   Luckily, they had a mix up and had TWO other cakes there, so Little Man still got a Spiderman cake.  I wanted to crawl under the table and just shatter  Cry.  But I put on a good face, and told people not to touch it.  I threw it away when I got home.  Maybe next time!

There is a Rob/White Zombie tribute band playing in a couple weeks.  I'm thinking of going....

Does this anti-static comb work well? Static isn;t usually a problem for me in Summer, but Winter it is ridiculous! And I'd love to see the spong rollers too!(haha, mini-claw of death XD)

And at least the cake looked pretty! Usually when I undertake cakes and ther decoration both turn out wrong somehow. So you've got that going!!

I haven't had any static problems to try it on, but if I do - I'll let you know!

Still haven't tried the sponge rollers yet, but I bought some Pantene Restoratives stuff today.  The hair mask, the fortifying treatment, and the S&C.    Maybe I'll try them tomorrow...

Thanks for the "boost" for my cake!  I took all three levels of the Wilton Cake decorating course back when I had time and money to spare, but that just taught us how to make it look pretty!  I guess I passed that part!   Roll Eyes

If I make it to the Zombie show, I'll let ya know how it went.

Hair: Wednesday night I rubbed the Fortifying treatment into my braids before bed.  When I took them down the next morning, my hair was kinda stiff - like it had gel in it.  I used a vinegar rinse, then washed with Daily Moisture renewal and conditioned.  Talk about shiny and soft!!   Cheesy  Yesterday was an extremely busy, physical work day and I had my sides braided back (with fortifier) and the back basic braided.  I had to redo the back twice during the day - bumped my head so many times my braid kept falling out!!   Grin   Today, I rubbed the fortifier into the back and had it in double mini cinnamon buns, until Mom called from work to take me to lunch.  EGAD - I can't go out like THIS!! Shocked  I took all the braids and buns out and did a simple french down the back.   Cool  I can't wait to wash it in the morning and see how shiny it is again!
Still haven't tried the sponge rollers - gotta get there.... Embarrassed

School: I started studying at 9.30 this am, and just finished all my programs and both tests about 15 minutes ago.  The Good News:  I got a 90% on the test I was allowed to re-take, and then an 80% on this week's test.  I also got last week's program re-written (thank you teacher for the chance) and this week's program written.  YAY!!!  Smiley

In other News: Brother Luc left this morning for his two weeks in the reserves.  He is going overseas next year, and he needs to learn how to survive over there.  He's in Virginia now, but we don't know when he will be deployed.   Cry He was in Desert Storm and made it, so at least we aren't all new to the idea of him being over there.

Hair: Today, I have two mini cinnamon buns behind my ears.  I applied a fair amount of fortifier and wrapped them up this morning.  I'll wash and condition at some point this evening.  The last few days have not been the greatest of hair days.  My braids turned out really sad this week.  I actually had a ponytail day!  It only lasted till after lunch before my head started to hurt.  I'm hoping to be able to leave hair down tomorrow.  But if I take my first walk to the bus stop, I'll tie it up and protect it instead.  I'm not having all my hard work ruined by wind and engine exhaust!  There won't be any sun damage though.   Cool

I also found a small fact - my short layer is only 15".

School: Another day starting with studying at 9:30 am.  I stayed home from work today for this again!  I have re-worked the lesson 4 program again and submitted it.  I still have to write the lesson 6 program, take the lesson 6 test, then take the Chapter 3 test for math.  At least if I don't get it done today, there's always Saturday.  Smiley

In other news: Little Man's official birthday was last night.  What a joke!  I'm so happy he had his pizza party last weekend.  Brother Luc called last night while we were all there.  He only had a couple minutes, so we all shouted "We love you!" so he could hear us.  I may have to miss the AstroCreep show - Brother Luc comes home that day and I am his ride home from the airport.  That's ok - I'd hang out with him over a show any day and I can catch the next AstroCreep show.

I'm considering riding the bus to work for a while.  It'll give me a half hour in each direction that I could be using to study, plus there is a half mile walk each way from my house to the bus stop.  That would give me extra money (that's always good) and a guaranteed bit of walking.  My bunny friend asked me how I was going to handle that length of a walk in the sun, when I'm always dressed in black.  I was thinking of carrying an umbrella and changing my shoes so that I'm not walking in my boots, but in tennis shoes instead, and layering on the sun block.  I'm not sure yet. I guess I'm still in the "thinking about it" stage, and I need to work out the details.

Well, back to studying.....

Commuting via the bus sounds like a great idea.  It gives you study time, walking time and it saves money!!  As for the sun - an umbrella works, or wear lightweight clothing  to cover your arms, etc.  Good walking shoes is always a good idea.

Give it a try!

Taking the bus is great!  I used to take the bus all of the time and never even realized (until I stopped  Roll Eyes) that walking to and from the bus stop burned so many calories, even though it doesn't feel like a workout at all.  And as bikerbraid mentioned, it also gives you extra study time. Hair: Yesterday was spent studying, and all I did was tie it up in a claw of death.  It was SO hot - 113 yesterday, and we were trying to use the swamp cooler and not the A/C.  Tongue  We finally gave up around 7:00 pm and switched on the A/C. A few hours later I rubbed in fortifier, braided and went to bed.  Normal W&C this morning, put two drops (!) of oil on the ends and went to church.  After coming home to a nice and cool house, I got restless.  I dampened my hair with a spray bottle, and began kinda pin curling my hair. It took me an hour and a half!   Shocked  I put a dot of aloe vera gel on each section before I pinned it up.  My layers were a little tough to work with, and I must have used over 100 pins (hair pins and brand-new bobby pins), but it's all up.  I misted all the curls with the spray bottle again once they were all up.  I figure if the idea doesn't work out, I can always wet it again tomorrow and no one will know!   Smiley  I used bigger sections of hair so that my curls wouldn't be too tight, so consequently the pin curl pins laughed at the idea of holding the curls in!   Grin

School: Literally spent 10 hours yesterday on homework.  Got a 60% on the Chapter 3 test.   Sad  Oh well, I'll just have to keep trying.  I got the Lesson 6 program written and submitted and the test taken.  (I don't remember what I got on it.)   Huh  I couldn't bring myself to even crack a book today.  I'm too tired!!

In other news: Talked with our class helpers today about the church women's retreat.  She agreed to go to the spa with me!  I really did NOT want to go alone, so this will be fun. We are both going the mani and pedi route.  I kinda want to get a facial too, but I'll have to see. My mom and her mother-in-law are also going.  I'm so nervous about this!!  But then, I have an anxiety disorder, so that's nothing new!   Cool

It's kinda noisy in my head sometimes.....

Hair: I haven't been very good to myself this week.  Lot's of time in the claw of death, and no extra conditioning.  I washed once this week, and applied a little leave-in.  Talk about dry!!  So last night, I coated my length with fortifier and braided it.  Used a little vinegar rinse and W&C this morning.  It's happy again!   Smiley  I left it down today, with a little anti-frizz and a "saving grace" braid.  I have no idea what tomorrow holds, but maybe I can oil and braid it for the day.

Oh - and the pin curls?  Not the greatest, but not bad either.  I had SO much volume that one of the guys at work asked if I had extensions put in because "that can't possibly be all YOUR hair."   Idn't he cute?  Roll Eyes    I pulled the sides up in baby ponytails.  It was ok, but not really what I wanted.

School: No math test this week!  But I only have tonight to get the next program finished.  The school server will be down tomorrow for maintenance, so I will not be able to turn in homework.  oh joy.

In other news: Brother Luc returns tomorrow!  If I make it to the AstroCreep show, I'll have to leave it to go to the airport.  I will also be at the show alone - my friend decided to go to Mexico instead.
I have also decided against riding the bus.  Monday morning I looked at the temperature gauge on my shaded patio, and at 6.30 a.m. (time to leave to catch the bus) it was already 93 degrees.  I could have handled that, but the walk back that afternoon was going to be over 110.  As much as I love the heat, my tolerance isn't the greatest.  I figured if I saved $47.00 in gas, but then spent $50 on a trip to the emergency room, where's the savings?  I'll look into it again when the worst of the heat is over.  Or maybe when the monsoons hit - then it's raining and that's always a good thing.

I did go outside yesterday to warm up.  I wore open shoes to work, and was freezing after lunch.  I am the sick one that loves the desert heat.  I don't like the sun, but I hate being cold.  I like to walk outside and that hot oven blast of dry air warms me to the core in a matter of seconds.    Cool

Weight: Polo sent me a diet and exercise plan that I started following yesterday.  Maybe when he returns in August, he'll be able to see what he's helped me accomplish.  I gained way too much weight during my surgery recovery.  I'm still taking all my vitamins, so I'm hoping the result will be a healthier me.  The last time I was weighed, I was 149.5.  My usual was 118, so I've got a lot of work to do!!

I love the heat, too.  Unfortunately I'm in Michigan right now missing out on those triple digits.  I'll be home soon, though.

I agree, a walk home in the afternoon heat would suck no matter what!

The good thing is those triple digits will be around for some time, so I'm sure you'll experience them soon enough!

I hope things are going OK for you in Michigan.  Maybe you could walk outside and think "Wow.  It's June and I can sit outside without worrying about heat stress."   Smiley

Hair: Going to wash today.  I really should have done it yesterday!!  Going to try CWC and see what happens.  If it's over done, it still wouldn't be worse than what I had yesterday!   Embarrassed  The base of my hair (& my face for that matter) have been getting really oily.  I rubbed fortifier in the length before I braided last night.

School: Been studying.  Have a test due and another program on Saturday.  My instructor told me to "Stop being surprised." when something works.  HA!   Grin  He has NO idea who he's dealing with!

Weight: Two people at work commented that they think I've lost a little!   Cheesy  I'm refusing to weigh myself for a little while longer now.  Started walking leg lunges this weekend.  I'm up to 10 per set!   Roll Eyes  I'm hoping to get to two sets by July 4th.  Still following the carb diet - mostly. Tongue

In other news: Did not go to AstroCreep.  Just didn't have it in me to go by myself this time.  Also turned down the Motorhead concert in August.  I'm not sure if I just don't want to go outside or what it was.  The guys return in August, and I'm hoping to make it to plenty of their shows, but I'm going to be in big trouble if they return during finals.

I'm trying to be low carb, but will all my food allergies, its not very easy.   Smiley  I was really good at counting fat grams instead of carbs, but I'm trying.

Hair didn't turn out too bad today.  I have a top half braid.  I applied some anti-frizz, since those clouds outside that made such a beautiful sunrise this morning mean that it's a little humid out there.
Yes - I was awake at sunrise.   Tongue

Yep, when I walked off the plane last night and was washed in heat I thought, "Ahhh, there's no place like home!"

Walking outside in MI right now is, "Holy crap!  Run for cover!!!" as you get dive bombed by giant mosquitos!!!  I totally forgot about that.  I've been living in AZ 9 years now and am so glad not to be bothered by those buggers!!

Argh!  My computer froze and I lost my post!

Sakina:  I had to fly to San Luis Obispo in May once for work, and I didn't think to pack anything to keep warm.  I ended up buying a sweatshirt at the college to keep from freezing!  When I stepped off the plane in Phoenix, my coworker and the other folks on the plane thought I was insane because I accidentally said out loud "Oh yes. I'm home!"

Hair: I haven't been very good this week.  It's only been washed once, and either pulled up, braided, or just there.  It was in side 'tails for work on Thursday, with RWB ribbons.  I'll treat it today though.  Some deep conditioning, and up so it can all soak in.

School:  Spent another 10 hours on it yesterday, and I'm not much better off.  I found out that I'm also too far into the class to drop it.  So, my choices are: drop it and see what kind of grade I get, continue and see how I do, but either way - I can re-take the class in the fall semester.  I'll just be out the money. Undecided

Weight: Not doing bad, but not great either.  This week was so insane I didn't get ANY walking leg lunges in, but all the running around at work should count for something!  My dieting is going good, and I think I'm losing a little.  I might get on the scale when I measure my hair.

In other news: I wore a skirt for the first time in over a year, and boy did I get razzed for it!  My favorite two comments were "Wow.  I didn't know Goth could look that pretty." and "That vampire look does well on you."  I guess those were compliments, but they made me laugh.  Grin  I'm considering wearing a skirt again before the next 15 months are up.  It just that I'm now the IT person, and crawling under a desk/workstation because a connection goes out is kinda difficult.

OMG, I hate when that happens to me at work! On the rare occasions that I have time enough to put myself together in the morning, I almost always hear about it at work. "Oh, you look so pretty today!" and "What's the occasion?" and "Are you going out after work?" UGH! One day, my boss even went so far as to say, "Have fun on your date later tonight."  Angry

So I kinda know where you're coming from. But I also kinda like the surprise factor. Just when you think you have me pegged, BOOM! I throw a curve.  Wink

So - Wow.  It's Friday.   Seriously?   Shocked  Things have been just way insane at work.  Huge meetings, people flaking out on work, stress over losing jobs - is this one going to leave?  No, THIS one is.  Well, THAT one's leaving for sure!  holy cow.

Hair: I've been decent to mine this week.  Applying fortifier at night and braiding.  Then rinsing in the morning.  Mostly been up in the Claw of Death all week, but that was just for simplicity.  I got a very nice hair compliment this week!  One of the guys at work knows that I'm growing my hair, and he told me that he has noticed that if it isn't MUCH longer (which it isn't) it looks SO healthy now, and it LOOKS longer!   Smiley
I also entertained the idea of "dusting", but I'm not really sure what it is.  I was covering for the receptionist for a little while (like three hours), and I started checking out my ends to see if they were split and maybe I would need a trim.  Well, I found ONE split end.  Just one.  So I waited until I got home so I could trim it with good sharp hair scissors instead of the ones I have at work.  I was so happy!  My last trim was some time in May.

School: Well, I tried to quit the math class, but the system won't let me.  But I sent my instructor an email telling him that I will continue to try, but I did try to quit.  I will just have to take it again in the fall.  My programming class isn't too terrible, but I wouldn't say that I'm doing good either.  I'm going to try to get the test taken and program written today, but I'm keeping one foot in reality where that is concerned!   Smiley

Weight: Not the greatest, because I thinking I'm moving my weight around on my body instead of losing it!  My waist/sides are getting slimmer, but the scale still says the same.  The jeans that I bought three weeks ago aren't as tight - I have to keep hiking them back up.  Guess I should find a belt that I like. I've been swimming a few times this week, and walked 4 miles a day just at work this week!

In other news: This is our weekend at the retreat!  We are going to the Carefree Resort tonight and returning Sunday.  We got our pedicures last weekend, and I have a new indigo cross on my right leg.  It will be so awesome to get away from homework for a couple days!!
Also - I love my indigo kit!  I followed one of the links someone (was it Lisabelle?)  posted here about dying hair black with indigo, and I've read the Henna page and the Indigo page.  So I ordered the indigo kit and I LOVE IT!!!  My first attempt was pretty sad, but they usually are.  My second attempt looks pretty good!!  I wish I could find my camera to post a pic.   Embarrassed  I printed off tons of pattern ideas from the internet, so I'm hoping to try some more next week.  It's pretty quick now that I get the idea of how it's supposed to work. One of my friends at work told me to "get really good at it" and then I can paint some on her!

Hair: I've been better about it the last couple days.  It was mostly tied up while we were in CareFree, just because we were doing "stuff".  I braided the sides back on Saturday and had lots of people ask me about it.  That kinda back fired cuz after a couple minutes I was thinking "OK! Haven't you ever seen a braid before?!  Stop touching me!"   Shocked    But I knew that was just panic, so I kept smiling and people went away.   Smiley
I braided it at night without fortifier, and I washed it Sunday and left it down.  Washed/conditioned yesterday, fortified and braided last night, then rinsed/conditioned/oiled this morning.  It's mostly down with a little claw of death today.  I'm hoping to get to use the moisture renewal mask this weekend.

School: I'm so ready for these classes to be over.  I'm holding my own in programming, but I've given up on the math class.  I'm just waiting for the fall sessions to open for registration so I can take it again - darnit!

Weight: Switched to the South Beach Diet.  My mom got a call from her doctor on Friday, and told her that she needed to be on some kind of Mediterranean Diet.  So, we committed to South Beach.  It's day three.  I'm not doing bad!  I had a single hershey kiss yesterday, but that was my only slip.  Still walking and trying to get time to swim.  We walked so much this weekend, I think we did good!

In other news: The retreat was a blast!  Got lots of time to hang out with Mom and my friend, and her mother-in-law and friend.  We decorated a pair of flip flops in a class taught by our jewelry class teacher.  We found the only pair of small black roses our teacher had!  Cheesy We had wonderful meals (ok - so that's why we started the diet Monday!) and just time away.  Mom's car battery died Sunday when we tried to come home, but then when my brother got up there, and pushed it into another parking spot so he could get close enough to jump it - it started!  WHATEVER!!!  We drove it over to my other brother's place and got a new battery.
I removed my indigo cross yesterday morning.  Time to pick another design to try! Smiley

Hair: Condition only this morning, and then a leave in conditioner and some anti-frizz stuff.  Something didn't work!!  My hair kept getting bigger and bigger this morning, until I finally tamed the top back into a mini claw of death.  About 10:00 am, I had enough of my bangs and pinned them back with sparkly pins.  THAT only lasted till about 11:00, then the whole thing went up into a full size claw.  ACK!!!   When I got home, I combed it out, applied massive amounts of fortifier and put in double braids.  Tucked the bangs back in micro claws of death.  Maybe tomorrow will be better....   Huh

School: Haven't studied since last Friday - I'm such a loser. Embarrassed
Weight: Going to try a new dinner recipe tonight - Gingered chicken.  Used fresh grated ginger, lemon, fresh pepper and garlic.  I can't wait!!  Smiley  Last night was rosemary, onions, mushrooms and garlic all over chicken.  That was really good.  I'm not so sure how much weight I will lose, but I'm having fun learning to cook stuff!

In other news: Not much going on.  Still searching for design for indigo body art.   Smiley

This crazy monsoon weather is making my hair act weird, too.  For me, a good oiling w/sunflower oil is helping and washing 2 times a week is keeping the frizz and expanding volume in check.

Those recipes sound good!

Hair: Woke up this morning, took the night braids down, lightly combed it, then put lots of fortifier in and double mini cinnamon bunned them.  Then I had to run to the computer store - more on that in a second - so I took the buns down, french braided the slimy stuff and took off.  It'll stay in it's single braid until the morning.  Then I'll vinegar rinse and wash/condition.  It was so soft when I was putting it back up this morning!!   Cheesy  I'm going to try to oil it while it's damp tomorrow and braid it for church.  I want it to come down eventually tomorrow - I get to see Dad for dinner!   Cool

School: Only one more small program then the final project!  I'm so not sure how this is going to happen.  The only upside is that I'll have to turn the last project in before the boys in the band get here - yay!!   Smiley

Weight: actually got on the scale this morning - 146.  I'm down from where the doc's office said, but I also didn't weigh myself at the start of the diet.  But that's what a journal is for, isn't it?   Wink  Lasted my first Saturday at home while on a strict diet - I'm so proud of me!!   Cheesy

In other news: My home computer crashed!!  My little nephew was playing on it, and kept telling me it was acting funny.  I ran all the updates and cleaners I could think of, and the last time it was starting up, I got the black DOS-looking screen that said "Hard drive failure imenent (or however it is spelled)"!   Holy cow!! Shocked  So, I took it to the shop that I just got my laptop back from.  I was really not ready for this.  But I bought an external hard drive for back ups, and the new hard drive, so at least it will be good now for a while.  This all means that I won't have as much $$ to play with the guys when the get here.   Cry  Not that I won't have as much fun, but its always lame when funds are low.

Hair: Well, I broke down this week. Embarrassed  On Monday, I dried and flat ironed my hair.  I was so proud of how long it has gotten, and I was really missing it being straight.  I oiled it after it was done, and kept cooling it after every pass with the iron.  I lightly oiled it Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday before going to work.  It was very soft, and very shiny and lots of folks noticed.  It was nice.  I guess I'll be ok if I only do that every three or four months.  I washed and conditioned today, and then oiled while wet this morning.  My curls were back and happy!  Smiley

School: Still working on that last program.  Then the final....  Sad

Weight: Still going strong.  I had to wear a belt this morning!!   Cheesy  I'll weigh again in the morning.  A friend at work told me that I inspired him to start working out again, so now we "check in" on each other every day - "Did you workout?  What did you do?"  Knowing that we have someone to "answer to" is really motivating!

In other news: The home computer is back, and functional, but not back to normal.  Still working on reloading all the software and stuff.
Work stuff:  Two people left our company.  One of them means a huge impact on me, and they were both friends.  So today was completely crazy.  Cleaned out one of the desks, cuz I'll get to move into it.  Not what I would call fun, but necessary.

Hair: Better today.  No wash, no rinse.  Just there.   Undecided  I guess it's better.  I put a little braid in behind my left ear.
AND - I finally heard the comment I've been dreading and still do not have an answer for :  "Ya know, your hair is getting too long.  It doesn't look pretty anymore, even when you iron it.  It's just long - there's no style."
When I said, "OK, but it's healthier and shinier than it's ever been."  I still got, "Well, yeah, but it's just long."   Cry

School: I wrote for help from the instructor and - huge surprise  Shocked - no answer.  Guess I'll give the final an honest effort and take whatever I get for it.

Weight: Doing good!  This morning's weigh in was 142.5!  Still losing, but the size 10s still fit well.  The 8s are still a bit too tight.  That's ok - I'm getting there!

In other news: I got a text from Dad today!   Smiley  It was so cool!  Talk about making my day!  Cuz before that today had really sucked.  I was so busy I seriously had to be reminded it was lunch time!  Not that I wasn't starving, but I was just ignoring it to get all the stuff done!  But I took the break, and was good.  Working on learning all the new responsibilites.  Talk about not fun. Tongue

Hair: Used Herbal Essences temporary color in Plum Pucker!  The boys are in town, and I felt like changing it up a bit.  It's very, very shiny!  I'm so happy its healthy now.  No cutting yet.  I really don't plan on it.  Maybe a trim, and some off the bangs, but I'm going to keep fighting the negativity and keep it long.  I am keeping it pinned up so others that don't like it can't tell how long it is.  Thank you for Angel and Trisha for helping prop me up!

School: The last assignment isn't working.  I really need to start working on the final.  I hope I at least get a passing grade for this class.  I so don't want to take it again.

Weight: I don't want to weigh myself yet.  Went out to see the band play, and kept to the no carb drinks, but still.  I don't want to see that number go up again!

In other news: (aka guys) Jeez, was I stupid.   Tongue  After leaving the club after the show last night, I had been thinking about a seriously-long-time-ago ex of mine that I had run into about a year ago.  He was still working at a server, and I swung by just to see if he still worked there.  He didn't, and I was basically ok with it.  But when I got back to my truck, it wouldn't start.  Dead battery.  I called roadside assistance, and they jumped it - and get this - when the radio kicked on the Toby Keith song "He Ain't Worth Missing" was playing.  I sat in my truck for a minute and said (out loud) - "OK.  I get it.  I won't do this again."  This was all after seeing the little singer guy that I had crushed on.  His girlfriend and I were pretty friendly - mainly cuz neither of them know how I felt.  So, I didn't get home until almost 4 am, and then had to get up and do homework today.  I guess Someone was trying to tell me something!   Cheesy  Anyway - the driver fixed a wire on my battery, so hopefully it's better now.  And I promise to quit beating myself up.

Oh, honey...karma has spoken.  Grin  You broke up with the guy for a reason (or several). It would do you best to leave the past in the past where it belongs.

Also, a little unsolicited sisterly advice...leave the taken guys alone as well. Especially if they happen to be in a band!  Tongue  That's asking for trouble on both counts.

Yay!!  I found my favorite website again!   Cheesy

I won't try to sum up the last 5 months in a journal entry other than to say "crazy would be an understatement"!

quick version - Hair has reached BSL quite nicely.  I have to pull my hair over my shoulder to keep from catching it in the clasps.   Smiley  Still defending the length.  I dyed it black a couple weeks before Halloween, and I'm really liking the color as it fades as much as I liked it when it was "new".  But now it seems to be thinning at a rate that is truly scaring me...

I SO need to take a new pic!  Shocked

I've lost all but 8 of the pounds I wanted to - checking in at 128 this morning!  Cheesy

Still in school.   Applied to the Arizona State for Spring.  No guys in my life.  Had to buy a vehicle, so I now own a 2006 Dodge Dakota (black).

I SO missed you guys!

Thanks Angel and Trisha!

Hair: Would you believe I am still using the Pantene Restoratives Daily Moisture things I bought way back when?  Not just the same stuff, I mean the same bottles!!  This weekend I found some Breakage Defense Leave-In treatment on sale, so I'm going to try that for a while.  I'm not getting any breakage or split ends, but I figure it can't hurt.  Can it?   Huh   As for my thinning problem - I have really no idea what to do about it.  I am easily getting 30 hairs a day on no-wash or rinse days.  On the days I wash it, I get 50-80 while combing it after my shower, and then another 30 through out the day.  It's been doing this since the middle of October, right after I dyed it.  I haven't changed the hair vitamins I'm taking, or my diet.  I'm trying not to stress about it, because I know that's not going to help me!   Smiley

I was looking at the hair chart in "Grow with it" and I think I might actually be mid-back.  Is the difference between BSL and mid-back just the width of the bra strap?  Above the strap is BSL and at the bottom of the strap is mid-back?   Undecided

Finally got to use my Amish hair pins last week.  I love them!  I have to keep practicing, because I put my bun in SO tight I got a headache.    Shocked  A friend at work watched me tie it back and put the pins in and said "Wow.  I've never seen you do that before.  It looks great!"   Smiley  So I'm getting used to the idea of a bun, just as something different.  My single braids are getting to depressing, because of all the shedding I get when I braid it.

School: One more week and a test and this semester is over!   Cheesy  I had to re-take the math class that totally fell apart over summer.  I applied to ASU, and I'm waiting to hear from them.  Either way I have a couple classes that I want to take in the Spring, just cause.

Weight:  127 this morning!  Bought a couple new pairs of jeans this weekend.

In other news: Other than the new truck, that's about it.  Work is going just like always.  Tried to get a Holiday job, but (surprise) no one called me.  Guess I'm not supposed to work extra this year.  Bought a new Christmas tree this weekend.  Tried to talk Mom into the black one at Wally World, but she wouldn't go for it.  I so wish I had space in my room for it!  Mom and I can actually put the new one up without my brothers helping us.   Smiley  Did some shopping this weekend.   I love this time of year.

I saw the black tree at Wally World too. Cute, eh? Too bad it comes pre-lit. Tongue Borders actually has smaller black trees (not lit) around Halloween if you can find them. This year, I saw them clearanced for $13!

And don't get discouraged about shedding. You're supposed to lose about 100 hairs per day. It's also common for people to shed more during the fall.
You could try doing scalp massages every morning to get all of the "dead" hairs to fall out at once instead of throughout the day.

Hair:  Following Angel's suggestion this morning, I tried the scalp massage, but I'm not sure what I should be applying to my scalp?   Undecided  So I just massaged my head with my finger tips.  Then lightly combed it, hoping I could get most of the shedding over with.  Then I put some Breakage Defense in the length and headed out.  Within 20 minutes of arriving at work, a computer crashed.  I knew I would be under a desk, so I wrapped it in a bun (with my pins!   Smiley)  so that the dust under the desk wouldn't get in my hair.  It's lunch time now and it's still up! I'm thinking I'll try to leave it up cuz I don't have a headache yet.  Then maybe tonight I'll get all the shedding at once again.  I got another compliment on the bun and the color today.   Cheesy
The only thing is it's kinda chilly at work, and my neck and ears are cold.   Angry

School: No school tonight, so I'm going to try to study.  I have the last test on Monday, and I'm not real secure with this class.  I'll only get to study after I see if I get Little Man tonight, and go to Wally world for fabric paint.  He needs his name on his Karate uniform.

In other news: I have a "holiday cocktail" party to go to this weekend, and I am being such a girl!  I bought a black dress a few months ago that I haven't worn; I bought a purple one a few nights ago;  I own a red one that I've only worn once a few years ago.  And - NOPE! - I don't want to wear any of them.  I don't like how they look, I don't like how they fit.  and I hate shopping with a passion.  I don't want to take the indigo design off my foot, but I don't have shoes to show it off correctly.

I may end up wearing something totally understated.  I am seriously considering dark jeans and some special top.

I hate parties.... Tongue

Hair: Been trying the scalp massages daily, but the shedding has not changed.  I used up my Restoratives shampoo (finally!) and now I'm using up the Pantene Brunette Expressions.  Still using Restoratives conditioner.  CWC twice a week.  This is something I have never experienced before:  My black dye is actually growing out - like I have roots.  I cannot count the times I have dyed my hair, and this is totally new to me.  Normally, it just fades out.  So now I'm really confused as to what to do.  The only thing I can think of is either to dye the roots a color between the black and whatever color is growing in, or start using "non color friendly" hair treatments - like oil.  Still using the breakage defense daily.

School: I got an A in my calculus class!   Smiley  Now I am STILL waiting on ASU to make up their minds.  They got all of my transcripts except the high school ones - which were mailed a WEEK ago!  What's the hold up?!?!?!?!

In other news:  The cocktail party was lame.  I ended up wearing something totally different out of my closet.  I steam curled my hair.  Turned out I was the only one there in a dress!   Angry  I took the indigo design off my foot just cuz.  I also got that too-familiar feeling of being looked at like a slab of meat.  The people that talked to me could not have cared less about my intelligence, but after adding in the influence of alcohol only wanted to talk about my hair and the weight I've lost.   I will not be attending another function like that again.

In other other news: Considering working for our government.  I've begun filling out applications and sending resumes for most of the alphabet companies:  FBI, CIA, Secret Service, DPS, NSA, ATF, DEA.  Not going to quit school just yet, but maybe get to do something I WANT to while I finish school.  Began training for the physical tests.  I can earn 8 of 12 needed points with situps already, but I need to train to run 1.5 miles and sprint 300m as well as pushups.  Can't wait!!   Smiley

Hair: Still doing daily scalp massages, but still shedding like crazy.  Oh goody - and no length to add on for December.   Angry  I'm down to Brunette Expressions shampoo, and Midnight and Brunette Expressions conditioner.  CWC twice a week and daily Breakage Defense leave-in.  I haven't decided how I'm going to even out my color yet.

School: Well, ASU finally accepted me!!  But - my first choice of majors did not.  I was accepted to my second choice, but I'm still calling the first school to find out what I can do or what I did not do to get in.  I am signed up for three classes, One all semester, and two that are only the first 6 weeks, and another one in the second 6 weeks.  oh boy....

In other news: Last Monday - power walk 1.5 miles in 22 minutes.  Wednesday - power walk 1.5 miles in 18 minutes and ankle weights.  Saturday - walk/jog to the park (half-mile away) with Little Guy on his scooter.  Sunday - bike ride to and around park with Little Guy.  Tonight (Tuesday) - bike ride again with Little Guy.
Going to an FBI recruiting event in February - can't wait!!   Cheesy

Thanks Sakina and Angel!!  I'm kinda geeked about being a Sun Devil.   Smiley

Hair: CWC twice this week.  I also oiled the area between an inch away from my head and my ears.  It has helped tremendously!  The line of black color is nicely faded enough that I think I'll only need to do that one or two more times and my color will be tolerable.  I have gotten so many compliments on the dark color, I'm not ready to pull all the color out, but I'm also not willing to continue to dye it.  It's been so shiny lately, but it's still shedding like crazy.  My hair is drying now in about an hour, when a year ago it would take closer to two. Huh

School: I officially start class on Monday at the community college.  Tried to buy books last night, but can you believe the place closed at 5?!  Please!!  Guess where I'll be going this morning....
Talked to a few more people at ASU.  All they could tell me was they'll keep looking up my application and they would call me back.  I'm going to try to attend the Spring Welcome this week, but I'll have to leave that early so that I can go to real class.
I signed on to my online class already and submitted the first assignment - email the instructor.   Smiley

In other news: Still trying to train, but Little Guy has been seriously jazzed about me taking him to the park on his bike.  So, my power walks have been replaced with very easy bike rides.  Still haven't lost any more weight.  I'm hoping to lose some more walking all over campus, but I'm more worried about training.  I don't know how I'm going to accomplish this...   Undecided
Also - the guys are back this week!  I'll get to hang out again.   Cheesy  I was really hoping to show everyone the Old Luc this trip, but I think I'm the only one who is going to care.  As long as I'm there, they don't really care what I look like.  They are happy that I'm not on crutches anymore!   Smiley

Hair: CWC only once this week.  I put in up in a bun yesterday with some breakage defense.  Before bed, I combed it, applied some Midnight expressions, then braided.  This morning, more leave-in breakage defense, and back up into a bun.  I'll CWC tonight before going out to play.  I can't wait to see how happy it is with all the moisture.   Smiley

School: Last night was the "Spring Welcome" at ASU.  Jeez, was I clueless!  I went there hoping to speak to an advisor and get a grip on some classes.  Only to find out that I was already supposed to SEE an advisor since classes start Tuesday.  At least someone there gave me the phone number to call the advisors.
Also - I found out why I didn't get into the CIS program:  I've never taken the SATs.  Or ACTs for that matter.  The only way "in" without those tests is to have graduated in the top eight percent of my high school class.  Well, yeah - I'm sure there were LOTS of people that applies to - just not me.   Roll Eyes
So, now, on top of Unix, Business Ethics, Statistics, Accounting 212 and the Microsoft Certification, I have to study for the SATs.   Holy cow!!   Shocked
Did I mention I work full time?  and help my nephew train for his karate classes?  I think I'm losing my mind....

In other news: Little Guy is loving our twice a week trips to the park on bikes.  He's getting pretty good at it, so I'm actually getting a little exercise, but not much.
But Somebody must be smiling on me - Weighed this week and saw 126.   Smiley
Also, I walked to ASU from my house, and it was exactly one mile from my house to the building I needed to be in.  So maybe walking 2-point-something miles twice a week on top of whatever else I'm doing will help me out.

The band is here!  I can't wait to see everyone tonight.  I'll be late tonight because of Little Guy's belt ceremony, but they'll understand.

Hair: Very happy and shiny.  Used a moisture mask Friday night after CW.  Then breakage defense, Garnier's fortifying leave in, and a little aloe vera gel on the ends.  I think just as many people noticed my weight loss as they did how shiny my hair is!    Smiley  Yesterday was just down and there.  This morning was CWC, then breakage defense leave in.  When I got to work, and turned on my desktop space heater, I noticed how fast my hair was drying, so I put in more breakage defense and wrapped it up in a bun.  At least I can protect my hair from the space heater - I'd rather not need the heater....

School: Read a little bit of a Unix assignment, but that's it.  I just couldn't give up my last weekend to homework.   Embarrassed

In other news: What a blast!  Little Guy's belt ceremony was awesome!  He skipped a level!  He's now a purple belt with a white stripe.  It's like purple and a half.   Smiley
The band was awesome.  Saw all the guys.  Got to talk to the singer I crush on.  He loaned me his copies of the CDs I wanted to buy from him and told me to burn my own set.  They aren't being printed anymore, so there aren't any more to buy.  So I've been listening to him in various forms all day....   Cheesy  He told me I could keep them as long as I want, but I'm going to get them back to him by Friday.
Going to see Mark tomorrow night at a different place, and then going to make the week day shows.  Was invited to a semi-get-together on Saturday.  Not sure about going - it's all the way across town and then some....

Hair: Not really taking care of it well this week.  Breakage defense and bun during the day because of the space heater, and then finger comb and leave down all night.  Tomorrow will be lots of conditioning.  Using the mask, probably braided until time to shower before going out.

Thank you to the popularity of low-rise jeans - I found out this week that I am 2 inches away from waist length!!   Cheesy

I'm getting lots of pressure to cut it. Especially since another long-hair just cut hers to swing above her shoulders.  She lost 11 inches!!  I just keep saying that I'm not ready to cut it yet.  I do keep toying with the idea of having my Trinity hair back - wicked short and dyed black.  I don't know.   Undecided  Not sure if I have the time to maintain that kind of hair.

School: Holy cow.  Unix is going just fine.  Started two other classes this week.  MW 5.45 - 8.30, TR 7.10-9.55.  I must be insane.....  But turned in all first week assignments on time!

In other news: Got to hang out with the guys all week!  Tuesday was acoustic night - way amazing!  Stayed almost all night.  Wednesday and Thursday (after class) were incredible!  Can't wait to see tonight's show, but still bummed that there won't be a Saturday show.

Also, returned Crush Singer's CDs to him.  He asked what I thought - silly boy  Roll Eyes -  so I told him that I cleared my MP3 player, and only have his music loaded to it.  I really haven't listened to anything else all week.

Going to the get together.  Mark is going to try to cook for me without killing me - have to give him the official list of food allergies.   Tongue  Packing lots of drugs for the overnight - they have animals too - and taking a set of epi-pens just in case.   Embarrassed  Being a total girl and trying to figure out what to wear.  He told me to bring a swimsuit - do I even OWN one that fits?  The upside is that this morning's weigh in showed 125!   Cheesy  Going to see Pelvic Meatloaf after dinner, and then back to the house for hot-tubbing, wii, and drinks.  I so can't wait.

Hair: CWC Friday evening, Condition mask on Saturday before WC.  Got a pretty decent trim.  Took about an inch off.  It's funny that just losing that much, and I feel like my hair is swinging short over my shoulders!  It's not, but that's how it feels if I'm not looking at it.

School: I was bad.  I didn't even think about it this weekend.

In other news: Saw the band Friday.  Had a mild panic attack during the second set, which my friends reacted to correctly this time - no paramedics.  Embarrassed  Then, while trying to leave, a fight broke out in the parking lot sending all the bouncers out.  Which led to CrushSinger (backup bouncer and bar back) wandering around the parking lot.  He came over to talk to me, and when he reached for my necklace, I almost passed out.  He just wanted to see it and THANK GOD he barely noticed the look on my face.  I can be such a wimp...  Embarrassed  But he liked it, and we talked for a minute, I got a hug and got to leave.

Saturday's party was incredible!  Too many things came up for Mark to cook, so we went out for dinner.  It's better that way anyway.  I've never played with a wii before.  Wii sports was a blast!  The boxing kicked my butt!  My arms and back are still sore today.   Grin  We figured out that you can golf while still sitting down.   Smiley  The hot tub was interesting.  I kept my hair pinned up until the dare to jump into the non-heated pool was dropped.  Sorry, but the pins came out, and I dove in.  But at least I rinsed my hair when I got back in the house.  And then the curls showed up.....

My weight loss is still going strong - and they noticed!  They even told me that I didn't have to wear Band Gear to the shows if I looked so much better in other clothes.  I think that was a compliment, so thanks guys!

Now, back to my little world....

Hair: Gotta love this rain..  Angry   CWC Yesterday with a vinegar rinse.  Breakage defense in the length.  Today, no wash and more breakage defense.  It may end up in a bun today.  Still trying to use up Pantene's Brunette expressions.  Big Brother asked me what I was going to do about my roots growing out.  I told him if anyone is close enough to see the line between Espresso color and black color, they better be interested in things OTHER than my color line.   Cheesy

School: Business test - 80%, Accounting test - we'll see, UNIX - 1st section done - need to take test.  Hoping to call ASU and get an advising appointment for tomorrow.

In other news: Took the day off for Mom's birthday.  We went to lunch and went shopping.  She had a good day.  This weekend was Munchkin's 19th birthday - not the most horrible experience, but not too bad either.
Tomorrow is the recruiting event.  Have my interview outfit ready, and my resume polished up nicely.  Still debating what to do with my hair.  Big Brother and Mom think it should be ironed to look professional.  That won't be an option if it's still cloudy.  I was thinking of maybe braid the top/sides back, and tie the tails together.  That way the length can wave or whatever it wants to and still look ok.  Undecided

Had an allergic reaction at work to the air fresheners installed in the ladies room.  In my defense, they installed TWO automatic dispensers, when one would have been plenty.  Quick thinking and quicker foot work got me out of the room in time, but I was then dealt a horrible coughing fit, and then had to use my inhaler a few times later during the day.  Also meant I had to leave the building to use the restroom.  Management told me today that they'll try a different scent and only one in there this week.  Of course, then I'll have to go in there and see if I can still breathe.
I hate my allergies.

Hair: Same ol' same ol'.   Two evenings this week with added breakage defense and rolled into a bun.  I think I'm still recovering from my trim.  Nice and soft though.  I can't wait for the length to come back.  Maybe I'll measure again for March.

School: got my appointment - I'm a Junior!   Cheesy  I'm so thrilled!  We layed out my academic plan, and since they are beginning to close the West campus, I'll have to take courses on-line or downtown.  I'm not so happy about that, but hopefully I can stick it out until (if) they re-open West.  Another Law test next week.  Looks like I'll be able to finish in two years, if I work myself pretty hard.  The bummer part - the FIVE classes I'm in now will not count for the degree.

In other news: The recruiting event was only open to the students and alumni of the school that was hosting the event.   Sad  I looked good though!!   Wink  I ended up letting my hair just do it's thing.  It was long, dark, wavy, and very shiny.  After leaving the place, I tied it up so that I could walk to campus.  I'm going to keep training and working on school. I'm back to that waiting thing again - and I'm not very good at it..... Huh

Happy Friday the 13th....

Hair: CWC this morning, then breakage defense and aloe vera gel in the length.  It was wet when I left the house this morning (and 38 degrees outside!!) so I tucked it into my jacket on the way to my truck.  No space heater until it dries....

School: no luck in getting a late add to ASU for spring.  Guess I'll have to just wait for summer to start...   yeah, cuz PATIENCE is one of my strong points!   Roll Eyes

In other news: I love Friday the 13th.

Jeez, I stink at this...   Tongue

Hair: Been pretty consistant.  Every other day CWC, leave in detangler, aloe gel on the waves.  Got some MEGA compliments on the locks this weekend.  The guys are back, and one night, all the folks in my normal crowd seemed to "notice" my hair.  The next thing I know, four different people are asking if they can "pet" my hair.   Shocked  I told everyone about the site!  Said "If you want to grow hair like mine - go to this site!"   Cool

School:  Got into ASU for Summer and Fall classes.  Got the student loan secured.  Now I'm just waiting to buy books and for June 1st when classes start.   Smiley

In other news: Yep, the band is back.  They had a new (to me) set with them on Friday, and talk about awesome.  They are Warner Drive.  Bought a CD, got it signed, added friends to MySpace, can't wait to see them again when they return.   Cheesy

Weight is doing well.  The scale still says 124, but the exercise is toning legs up nicely.  Some of my old clothes fit again!   Smiley  Trying to come up with a non-band-gear outfit for this weekend.

Guys: I think I made a friend!  Friend of the band is a pilot, and we hung out a couple times during the shows last trip, but things have for sure changed.  We've spent the first week of this trip together.  Emails and texts mostly.  He is trying to understand my anxiety and allergy issues, but it's a lot to expect of one guy!  He also LOVES my hair!  He likes to run his hands down the length while we are sitting at the shows.  I sent him some pics of when it was Trinity short.  He said it looked good, but he likes it long and dark now.  Smart man....  Wink
PS - CrushSinger got married, so we wave at each other and say hi.   Cheesy

Hair: Pretty good with the every other day CWC.  Tried some soft rag curls this weekend...  not bad, but I need practice...  Thinking of dying it again.  My growout line is really getting far, and I'm not ready to be natural..

School:  Not really a topic yet - major holding pattern here.  Undecided

In other news: The Captain (pilot) has become a major part of my life in the last couple weeks.  He is so awesome.  He passed the family test!   Cool  He absolutely loves my hair and told me to never cut it. Ever.  I had to laugh.  It was just too funny.  We have so much in common.  I don't want to ramble too much and sound like your average 'tweener with a crush, so I'll just bow out .... mumbling "wow"....... Thank you!!

Hair:  Still going strong with every other day CWC, using the curl girl method for wavies.  The routine must be working, cuz I have mega-watt shine and softness.  I'm almost ready to buy more products, and I think I'm going to go back to Pantene.  I was using Garnier this time, and I think the change up has been helping.
I haven't made up my mind about the color yet.  I really can't afford (money or damage) for highlights, which leaves me with WHICH dark color will I dye it?  I'll probably make up my mind after the next person notices both of my grey hairs.   Wink

School:  Got the textbooks for summer semester.  Started reading the first one and jump starting the notes.  Not what I would call riveting, but at least it's interesting.

In other news:  Yes, the Captain is a huge part of my life.  I took yesterday off of work, and we spent the whole day together, doing a whole bunch of nothing.  Lunch, his guitar lesson (I got to play with teacher's baby!), Guitar Center (bought a piano music book), book store, dinner, watch tv and cuddle.  It was so awesome.  He is encouraging me in so many ways.  He wants to hear me play the piano - which I haven't done in easily 18 years, but I bought that music book and said that maybe I'll play his keyboard for him - it doesn't need tuned like my piano.   Cool  He was beginning to show me how to play a guitar, because I said it would be nice to learn.

Talk about a butterfly....

The down side is coming - he has to go back to work.  He's been off for quite a while, and he finally got the email that he's going to start flying again.  Monday is his first official day that he'll be "on duty".  So, from now on, 18 days a month, he'll be out of town.  Which once school starts won't be so difficult to deal with, but May is just going to byte.   Sad

Hair:  The Garnier products are almost used up.  I'm stretching out the conditioner and using up odds and ends again.  I bought new bottles of Pantene's Curl product.  Maybe it'll help my waves a bit?   Undecided  But I really hope the shine stays.  The Captain loves to run his fingers through my hair, and if it begins to tangle, I'll have to come up with something else!

School:  Actually cracked the binding on the first book.  Not too many notes to be had, but the book is vaguely interesting.  Still gotta finish that Unix class - soon!

In pilot news:  The Captain left this morning for his first assignment since we've been together.  He'll be back sometime Saturday.  I cannot believe how incredibly difficult this is!   Cry  We've only been seeing each other for about a month, and holy cow this four days feels like it's going to be forever!  I got to talk to him a little this morning before he got near the plane and had to start working, and I'm doing my best not to let him hear me pout.  He doesn't need that.  He knows that I'm going to miss him, and he said that he will miss me too.  Awww..   Roll Eyes  I guess I had better get used to this, and get good at it, cuz this is his world.
I played his keyboard for him Sunday night, and he liked it.  I've placed a few calls to piano tuners so that I can play my piano for him someday.  I watched him shave last night.  Since he's been on vacation for a few months, he had a jaw-line beard and full goatee that had to go.  It was so different.  I've hardly ever seen a man shave before, and this was such a huge change.  It was almost like his voice was coming out of a different face.  But again, this is normal for his world, so I will get used to it.

Hair: CWC for the first time with the new Pantene products this morning, and I am loving the moisture!  The conditioner is SO thick, that I actually rinsed a second longer than I normally do.  I'm hoping this helps those waves out a bit...  And the Captain asked me if I could try to grow my hair to my waist!  Just to see if I could do it. How awesome is that?!

School: I plead the 5th.   Embarrassed
In pilot news:  He was back for a week, and what an amazing week!  He is working with his next door neighbor's wife, getting her to sing, so that she can sing a song for her husband when he returns from deployment.  The Captain plays guitar so she can sing.  It's so cool!  Now, he has left again yesterday and again will not be back until sometime on Saturday.  I have an aunt coming in from Virginia for 10 days, and she already said that she is anxious to meet him!  The family still likes him.  They asked where he was yesterday at the Mother's Day family dinner.

In other news:  Cheesy  The scale read 119.5 this morning!  Yeah!  I'm almost there...  AND I have all this week to work out.  I've dug a lot of clothes out of storage, only to find out that belt-lines have moved just enough in the last three years that most of the old stuff is going to Goodwill.   Shocked  I'm excited about my aunt coming to visit.  She had a daughter that had waist length red hair almost all of her life, so she said that she can't wait to see mine.  I'm still getting the pressure from the rest of the family to cut it though.  But now they seem less worried about my hair and more worried about my weight.  Whatever!   Roll Eyes  At least they are laying off my hair for now....

Thanks for letting me vent!  Wink

Hair: CWC every other day, leave in Breakage Defense, and Aloe Gel.  Same routine.  I guess it's ok.  Although I'm getting mixed reviews now.  I have friends that can't keep their hands off my hair and tell me how pretty it is, and then others that tell me it "just doesn't look healthy like it used to" = used to being when it was shoulder length, layered and multi-color-highlighted.   Sad  My Captain likes it, and I guess right now, that's what matters.  Still aiming for waist length by Christmas, but at this rate - who knows?

School: First official day of school!   Cheesy  Can you believe - our first assignment is to read FOUR chapters of the book and take our first quiz tomorrow!?  Holy cow.   Shocked  Good thing I already read the first three chapters... Cool

In pilot news:  He is back only for today and tomorrow and then gone for another 7 days.  I guess I could look at it that I'll have plenty of time to study and try to work ahead in class so that when he's off for a week later this month, I won't be doing school work while he's home.  He has brought me something from each trip he's been on.  He got to fly to Cabo for two days!  He got to visit our friends in Colorado, and he got a surprise night at home once.  My family still thinks he's just awesome - and so do I!   Smiley

In other news: Massive allergy attack last week left me without a voice.  Why is it that when you try to talk to people, and you're still in the process of losing your voice, they ask "What happened to your voice?"  I started telling people "I left it at home - it was getting me in too much trouble."  Then, when my voice was totally gone, and all I could do was whisper, THEN people felt the need to whisper AT ME because that's how I was talking!  People are funny - simple, but funny.   Grin

Off to see my captain!!!

Hair: So, after a little research, it appears that my hair averages growth of 1/3 inch per month.  Not stellar, but I guess I'll take it.  Still aiming for waist length by Christmas, but we'll have to see what happens between then and now.  The black hair dye (from Halloween) is finally fading out, and I can see my natural espresso color showing through both at the ends and the base.  The same routine I guess is still holding - CWC every third day, Breakage Defense after shower with Aloe Gel, Breakage Defense daily in the length.  I have two lace braids in my sides with the tails joined in the back today to pull it back out of my face.

The Captain still likes to play with it, and tolerates it when I put it up in a claw of death, but always likes to play with it when its down.  Maybe I should start asking him to rub conditioner or oil on his hands before he plays with my hair?   Wink

Hair: Gotta share this - my biggest critic of growing my hair out finally caved today - well, almost.  She told me "Your hair is really starting to look pretty and healthy again.  It's not stringy anymore.  It could probably still use a bit of a trim just to make sure it doesn't start looking stringy, but it looks good.  Whatever you have been doing is really working well."

Please keep in mind that this is a family member, so she feels she can be brutally honest with me.  I think it's hysterical, because I've been following the same routine for months now!  Grin

Side note: My aunt has been very sick, and I've been visiting her in the hospital and now the rehab center, and about 6 people have stopped me in various places and told me that I have beautiful hair!  Maybe this family member is listening and trying to see what all those other people see!  One of the ladies that stopped me told me that my hair reminded her of when she was young - but hers was never as pretty as mine!   Cool

The only thing I'm thinking of is starting to use oil more.  My dye job from Halloween is way grown out, and while no one else seems to be able to see it, I can.  It's grown about 5 inches from my scalp, so I'm thinking I could get some pretty decent oil on it.

I'll post this question somewhere else too, but I'm thinking about it now:  If I oil before I go to bed, do I wash, then ACV rinse, then condition in the morning?  Or would that be overkill on the moisture?  Is that possible??   Cheesy

BTW - the Captain is still a wonderful man.  I love spending every minute I can with him, and I miss him so much it almost hurts when he leaves.  I believe that he is a gift to me from God that I really don't deserve.

I was just trying to comfort someone on another forum about these types of comments/compliments that may be well intended but "ough!". Roll Eyes  Just like some long hair enthusiasts may be on a crusade to get everyone else to grow their hair long, I know plenty who genuinely don't like long hair and are on the opposite crusade. Grin  Well, it does seem almost religious with some people.  I wish people would just respect that others, unless they ask for advice, probably are happy with the way they wear their hair/clothes or whatever.

Hair: Either the humidity (I doubt it) is really doing wonders for my hair, or my hair all-of-a sudden really likes oil!  I've been using Jojoba Oil every day this week.  I CWC on Monday with the usual routine of breakage defense and aloe vera gel, but then before I went to the hospital I oiled the length.  Then every morning since then I have been one-drop oiling the length.  My hair feels so silky!  It's a noticeable difference to me.  But maybe I'm just losing my mind....
Also, no more critics on the length.  In fact - I've had more people tell me that it's beautiful, and this week when anyone has touched it, I get the "Wow" reaction.   Smiley

School: Final due by 10.00 am tomorrow, and there are rumors of computer issues with the exam.  Next class starts Monday, but I already have the first paper written - just waiting to edit it and submit next week.

Pilot News: He should return sometime Saturday for 6 days.  He has offered to help me with my papers that I need to write for this new class.  He's been such a doll going to the hospital with me everyday that he's home.  He even thought to bring her treats when we visited.  He takes her for walks in her wheelchair.  He's just so awesome.  It's almost unreal.

In Aunt news: Today she had a Picc line installed.  It's like a semi-permanent IV that goes in a large vessel in her upper arm and all the way in to her chest by her heart.  They're dumping massive intense antibiotics into her, and the drugs had started to blow the veins in her arms, so the Picc line is necessary.  Her face lights up whenever the Captain calls and I'm sitting with her.  She loves to say Hi to him, and asked him to pray for her when he's "way up there - close to God".   Cry

Wow - so much has happened in three weeks....

Hair: Still going strong with CWC every third day, and oiling during the day.  1 drop in the length, then wrap it up in a bun until night time.  It's so happy!   Smiley

School: Passed the last class - barely.  New class - turned in two papers, working on another due Monday.  Emailing with City of Phoenix to verify my current education plan qualifies as "closely related field" to work there.  Until I get an answer, I'll keep plugging away.

Pilot News: He hasn't been working as much - which is awesome for me!   Grin  He has helped me with each of my papers so far.  We went to the drags with his car, and then almost found a car for me!  But it got away from us in auction.  But now that he knows I'm interested, he's all excited about finding one for me.  He left this morning to return next Wednesday.  We started planning our vacation that we are taking in August.  I can't wait!   Cheesy

In Aunt News: She came home to our house on the 11th.  They took the Picc line out.  She then went home to her house on the 18th.  There is a nurse coming every day to change the dressing on her foot.  She's trucking along with her walker now, and getting strong enough to walk on her own.  She is so happy to be home.  We still visit her, just not every day.

Thank you all for your prayers for her!  They SO worked!!  Smiley

Hair: CWC every third day, oiling the length lightly twice a day.  Decided to start growing my bangs out, but I have no idea how long that will last.   Huh

School: Got a B in my last class, and got one of the SEVEN  Shocked books I need for fall.  The rest are on order.

Pilot News:  Well, here we go!  On Monday, we are going on vacation together.  We are going to Colorado - and I am going to meet his parents!   Shocked  He hasn't brought a girl home to them in years.  So once I'm over that panic...

We are going to borrow his brother's Harley and go for a four day ride.  We are going to a couple state parks, and just enjoy how pretty Colorado scenery is.  We are going to stop by the band's house one night and hang out.  I so can't wait!  My biggest concern is how I'm going to pack four days of stuff into saddlebags!   Huh

In Aunt news: More roller coasters.  They found out that her heart was not functioning at even half capacity, so they put a stint near her heart.  During that procedure, they discovered that she needs three more, and then some in her legs.  During the tests they do before the stints, they found an infection in her lower intestines.  They discovered yesterday that she is bleeding again and gave her blood, so today they are doing tests to find out where she is bleeding and hopefully fix it.
So, she is back in the hospital, and we have to wear gowns and gloves when we go to visit her.  I told her that I would stay home from my vacation to be with her, and she said "Absolutely not!  You go be with your honey.  Meet his family, and then come tell me what they're like.  I'll still be here."

Cry

Wow.  It's been way too long... Sad

Hair: Going to try to measure this weekend.  The fall shedding is driving me just batty!  But otherwise its happy, and I've been keeping it tied up mostly.   Still growing the bangs out!  They are just below my eyes now, so I'm using little clips to hold them back or to the side.  And the waist length by Christmas goal?  That's not going to happen.  I have about two more inches for that, and since my hair grows two inches in six months... yeah....  Sad   But I'm still CWC every third day, and oiling daily before it gets wrapped up in a bun.

School: Almost finished with fall semester.  Mostly signed up for spring.  Have two classes enrolled, and now I need to pick two more.

In Pilot news: Things are still going wonderfully!  We had a blast on our trip!  Meeting the family went rather well.   Smiley  He's been working and being very supportive about the school work that I need to get done.  He helps me write papers when I need to, and is even helping me fill my spring schedule.  I am so looking forward to spending Christmas with him!  He asked if he can get me anything for my hair for a present!   Smiley

In Aunt news: She is still on disability from work, but thankfully no more time in the hospital.  She is still not as strong as she used to be, but she's doing good.  She's back to her ornary self!   Cheesy
