2008 part of my journey from mega short hair-long
Jul 26th, 2008 at 12:09am

I'm at the very begining of my journey to long hair. My hair is this short really curly 1- 1.5 inch little afro at the momment. It's healthy though, its got a natural sheen, its thick, and my curls are really happy. I'm hopping it will be ear length by christmas, and chin length by this time next year. I hope to be shoulder length in two years.

My current hair care  routin is:

cowash twice weekly
water wash on the days i dont cowash
condition daily
Acv rinse with every cowash
deep condition weekly

I'm looking into:

Henna most likely going to become a part of my weekly dt when i get my hands on some
cassia is said to have a conditioning effect on hair
shikaki to wash and exfoliate my hair and scalp

protective styles to use when its long enough(i'm closest to puffs and braids):
puffs
pony tails
twists
braids
buns

Deep conditioned and did an acv rinse today. My hair sure enjoyed it, and really ate up the moisture. Its soft, if a bit crunchy from my gel. Smiley

In other news I can see my dark brown roots! I like them, and cant wait for my hair to grow so i can cut of the color.

Good Luck!! You and I are in the same boat; I have a short pixie cut right now, and although my hair isn't curly, we both have a long way to go!
Keep growing! Wink

good luck with the growing. i found that bobby pins were very helpful when i got to ear length. using them helped me feel like i had more style options without having to use sticky hair products.

Thanks!

I noticed some thining on the sides that seemed to be masked befor i got a trim. I'm kind of worried about them, and wonder what i could do help fix it. I'm getting some vitamins in a couple days, so hopefuly they will help. As for limiting stress to the areas I sleep on my sides, so alot of things will be hard to do.

My hair is loving the  vitamins, It sprouted 1.2 inches in less then a month!! Grin latter today im going to do my weekly deep treatment. since my hair seems to enjoy hot oil treatments, thats what i'm going to do. Now if only i had a bonnet dryer!

I start school for the year in 3 weeks, so i'm trying to at least get up and hour befor i did last year. I know i'm crazy, but my short hair demands almost daily styling, since my hair loves to flaten in my sleep. Thankfully i'm going to get my hair put into twists a couple days before school. and if that doesnt work, finger coils!

postponed my weekly hot oil treatment till sunday. I'm trying an oil that my hair seems to love as a sealent/ leave in. If my hair loves it then this will stay my hot oil oil.

co washed my hair, used some leave in, and oil as a sealent. My hair loves it! This might be my perfect routine. Grin

Wow, a perfect routine?  Let's hope so!  What brand is that oil?  I think your hair is curlier than mine.  I've been contemplating going to hot oil treatments for my deep conditioning instead of the thick conditioner types.  My scalp gets so dry, like the rest of my skin and my body likes oil so maybe my scalp will too.  I do oil massages, maybe I need some hot oil to penetrate the scalp.  What has your experience been?

My DT went well. I'm trying to convince my mom to feed my growing obssesion with natural foods and personal care products.  Roll Eyes I think i might of not put enough leave in in my hair. sealed it with oil though, so hopefully it wont freek out and will stay at a decent moisture level. Its not dry yet, so i really can't tell if i was being paranoid.

Well i got to go make that list of things i'll need for school.

Doing my weekly hot oil, figured out my hair prefers pure oil treatments when deep treating. .

My hair loved the hot oil, the longest part of my hair seems to be 3inches. boy was i surprised to find that out. Put it up in a large puff while wet, don't mind the slight lack of deffinition in my curls.

Hey,
my hair has been improving and growing like a weed even though i'm horroble about taking my vitamins lately.  Embarrassed  I did a deep treatmen on sunday, and my hair loved it! Grin Its was soft and uber moistureized for the rest of the day and most of the day after. I shampooed my hair today, to get rid of any biuld up and my scalp is loving me at the moment. I co-washed and conditioned like normal after. And put in some leavin and a couple drops of oil. My hair looks good so far even though its less then half way dry.

In other news i'm being transfered to night school because i have issues in regular school. It also gives me a chance to rcover if im sick in the morning.  Smiley So i wont miss so much school.

I started nightschool while I was in the 12th grade. Night school was so beneficial to me because A. I'm more awake at night and B. they have a no nonsense rule.  All of the immature behavior such as fighting arguing and other class disturbances were not tolerated in nights shcool. if someone broke one of the rules they were dropped from the program, no discussion.  I loved it! It was conducive to a productive enviornment and over all there was less drama and peace.  I only wish that I'd done it earlier because in regular shcool there are so many petty distraction like clothes, boys, etc.  With nightschool it's all about staying on track, getting your work done, and going home.  I hope it works out for you too. Smiley
