how to wear short hair when sleeping...please help
Aug 18th, 2008 at 12:02pm

Hi everyone!

I've already written this question in my hair journal, but i wanted to rewrite it here just in case no one replies. Okay, so I've just decided to get a hair cut, put on a brave face, and chop my hair off at my chin so that I will no longer have any bangs. ( I've been growing them out) I don't think I'm gonna be able to put then in braids any longer, so how will I sleep with my hair when it's short? Should  I maybe put it in a high ponytail?

Any comments would be very much appreciated! Grin

Short hair is hard, I don't do anything with mine except cover it if I am doing a conditioning treatment or oiling. I have bought some satin pillowcases and that helps with the hard friction from cotton pillowcases on my hair when I toss and turn. If you can get them to stay on your head, they also make wraps to sleep in, but my hair is too short and it won't stay on. Not sure how they'll work for you, as your hair will still be longer than mine.

Jilayne75, I think you'll be happier in the long run with this cut.  It will make you sad to loose the length, but after its cut you'll be happy its all one length.  As it grows out, you will be really happy it is all one length.

I sleep w/my hair loose.  I use silk pillowcases so there's no friction or drag on my hair.  You can see how long it is in my avatar.  I probably won't sleep w/braids until my hair is long enough to get caught under me or hubby, and then I'll only braid from the ears down.

Hi!

Thanks alot for the comments!  the deed is done.  I haven't had time to measure it yet. I got it chopped of to my chin, but you are right Sakina, i am very happy that it is all one length.  i think I will either go out and buy a satin pillowcase or make one. It may even be shorter than yours, livingandlovingx3, but I don't know. How long is your hair?

Mine is only 5 1/2"  Sad But all the damage is gone and my hair is thriving, so I am happy, but I will be even happier when it is longer! Tongue

Wow sakina, your hair is long! Cheesy

I'm sure you're hair will grow long soon enough, livingandlovingx3! Right after i chopped off my hair for the first time (yes, this is the second time I've drastically cut my hair), and most of the damaged ends were off, I ate alot of  healthy food, and now my hair is thriving, too. It's been growing pretty fast.

Thanks for the tips and best of luck to both of you and your hair goals! Grin
