UPDATE! For anyone interested.
I think I solved my problem.
What I did was (in the evening) :Heated up some Olive Oil in a bowl in the microwave and oiled my hair WELL, roots to tips (but especially all over scalp) and massaged it in well, wrapped my ends around on my head and wrapped my head in saran wrap, applied a towel hot from the dryer and let it set for around 30 minutes, or until the towel was cold again. Then I left the saran wrap on my head and slept overnight on it. The next morning I washed my hair, only I forgot to shampoo it before wetting it, and my shampoo bar wasn't strong enough to get the olive oil out. So I washed it twice that morning with my shampoo bar, and then let my still oily hair dry out throughout the day, and then showered again, this time applying wet regular shampoo BEFORE wetting my hair, and that got it all out. Afterward my hair was AMAZINGLY soft. I hadn't done an oil "treatment" in a long time but holy cow my hair loved it. The next few days I was flake free! WHOOPEEEE! Also since then I have been oiling my scalp lightly with jojoba oil the night before I plan to wash, and so far so good, so YAY!
