Or...you could go the natural route and use plants that they fancy in your garden. I'm not sure if bottlebrush trees grow in your area, but hummingbirds absolutely love them. Wink

That too   Cool
Angel, I tried twice yesterday to reply to your pm's but got errors both times.  So here's my reply:  "Great...now every time I use the word "hummer" I'm going to think of your SoCal definition and chuckle.  I had to ask!"   Cool

Hair  Washed this morning, moussed the front and let it air dry.  *shrug*  Nothing new.

Other  Army son leaves this morning to catch a flight out of St Louis.  His dad and grandmother will be chauffering him to the airport.  And he's now officially divorced.  Finally...sheesh!  --Took him long enough.  It's been nice visiting with him again, but I'm glad he's going.   Roll Eyes

Hair  Wash day, hair is down; need to remember to do a vinegar rinse this weekend.

Search for sunscreen 2009
Every spring I go through a tiring ritual of trying to find a decent sunscreen, i.e, one that provides good coverage at a decent cost but without leaving me feeling as if I've just bathed in a grease pit.  Up until now I have been unsuccessful...up until now.   Smiley  This time I am trying Aveeno Continuous Protection Sunblock Lotion with SPF 55.  The formula is delightfully non-greasy and absorbs well into my skin.  A hint of fragrance is present but it's almost nonexistant.  I believe I have found my perfect sunscreen.   Cool

Found this online:
Active Ingredients: Avobenzone 3.0%; Homosalate 10.0%; Octisalate 5.0%; Octocrylene 2.8%; Oxybenzone 6.0% ; Inactive Ingredients: Ascorbic Acid; Behenyl Alcohol; BHT; Butyloctyl Salicylate; Caprylyl Methicone; Diethylhexyl 2,6-Napthalate; Dimethicone; Disodium EDTA; Ethylhexyl Stearate; Ethylhexylglycerin; Ethylparaben; Fragrance; Glyceryl Stearate; Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract; Methylisothiazolinone; Methylparaben; PEG-100 Stearate; Phenoxyethanol; Propylparaben; Silica; Sodium Polyacrylate; Styrene Acrylates Copolymer; Tocopheryl Acetate; Trideceth-6; Trimethylsiloxysilicate; VP Hexadecene Copolymer; Water; Xanthan Gum

The bottom line, for me anyway, is this product DOES contain some items I'm not 100% sure about.  But it's better than having no protection at all when I don't or can't wear long sleeves and hat.

Hair  It's getting long...my hair seems to grow so quickly, even though it's only the standard 1/2" per month.  I'm sure I need a trim at this point but am loathe to do so.

Other  It's been a few days since my last entry but, honestly, there's simply not a lot happening.  I've been busy pondering and reading.   Smiley  Next week will be final exams here at the university...

Hair  Have an appt tomorrow afternoon for a trim...  Actually I'm considering going shorter than just a trim.  If you remember, my stylist did not cut my hair to the match the example I showed her; instead she cut it only to collar bone length.  I'm thinking, though, since our summer heat is due to arrive any day now and I probably won't get another trim until late July/early August, I may want my hair shorter.   Huh  I have until 3:00pm tomorrow to decide.

Other  Final exams week is going rather smoothly (and much calmer than anticipated).

Hair
I'm still amazed by how red my hair appears in certain lighting.
Anyway, this is what I decided upon yesterday; longer than the example I showed my stylist, but shorter than my original cut back in February.  I'm happy with it and have gotten a lot of compliments today.   Smiley  I guess I'll always miss my long hair, though...  It was such a big part of my life for 2-3 years.

That is a cute cut.  I'm glad you're happy with it, even though you miss your long hair.

Thats a cute cut for the summer! Cheesy  I know you miss your long hair, but sometimes when it gets hot, I think about how much I would love to have shorter hair.

Hair  Some time ago I tried the no shampoo method, baking soda with only vinegar rinses for conditioner, with little success.  While I was cleaning out my drawer in the bathroom this weekend I ran across the directions and began to wonder...would this method work better now that my hair is shorter?  So this is day one of another go at the no 'poo method of hair care.   Smiley

Other  Listening to the new Green Day CD, '21st Century Breakdown', thanks to my student worker who is a gem.   Cool

Hair  No wash day.  Hair is no more greasy than it usually is on no-wash days.  One of the goals for going no 'poo is only washing once a week (or longer than that).  But for now, I'm going to stick with my every other day washing routine, to give my scalp time to adjust to the baking soda.  Also the original recipe calls for one tablespoon of soda, but I'm going to cut back to just a couple of teaspoons at the most.  My hair is so fine that I don't want to risk any damage by using too much baking soda.

Other  Out front again today, covering for the secretary whose mother is having more surgery.   Tongue
