Can you believe it's frickin' November already?!  *shakes head*

Hair  Still letting it grow; today is a no-wash, hair in a claw clip day.

Other  My brother in law told me about a funk band called Here Come the Mummies--love 'em.  Check them out, if you get a chance.

Have I mentioned that I hate standard time?  Give me DST all year long and I'd be so much happier!  This morning as I drove to work, the sunlight was hitting the side of my face and killing my eyes.  Argh.

Hair  No news.  *shrug*

Other  At one of the few other forums I post at, I was asked to post photos of the costume jewelry I inherited from my late Aunt Sylvia when she died in 2004.  I thought you guys would enjoy seeing these pics as well.  Keep in mind these are only a few of the pieces.

The large cuff bracelet and rings belonged to Sylvia's sister in law, Reba, whom I never met.  Inside the cuff of the bracelet there is an inscription reading "Merry Xmas/1946/Love Dean".

I especially love the pieces in the first pic.  You're fortunate to have had these family treasures passed on to you. Smiley

Oh wow, aren't those cool?

We have some vintage Christmas ornaments (1920's or '30's, I think) that we take out every year, handed down from when my maternal grandfather was a kid. Always fun to see them.

I kinda dig the star brooches. Do you know when they were made?

Thanks, gals!  I feel very fortunate to have my aunt's pieces (along with some from my grandmother.)  I've got so much costume jewelry I could open a boutique!  Angel, I have no idea when the star brooches were made but they are special, eh?   Smiley

I scored some new earrings over the weekend.  At Kohls, a card of 3 pairs of sterling silver earrings with CZ gems caught my eye.  --Regularly $35 but I had a $10 gift card plus they were on sale, so I only had to kick in $2.04.  YES!

How funny!  I went to that same Kohl's sale and bought earrings too.  My card was for 15.00 off but I still spent $9 and some change. Tongue

Monday 23 November 2009
It's a short week; the university is closed Thursday and Friday, plus I'm taking Wednesday as a vacation day.   Smiley  Army son will be home for a couple of days, though we're not sure exactly *when*.  On Wednesday I'll do some cleaning and start doing some cooking.  --Make the cornbread for the stuffing, cook the green bean casserole, bake some pies.  *waggles eyebrows*  Good stuff, Maynerd.

The company brother in law works (er, worked) for is now closed.  IRS something-or-other.   Huh  Luckily brother in law has many years of experience and a good driving record, so finding another job shouldn't be a problem.  If he had to lose his job at least this is a better time than 3 years ago, which is when he moved in with us.  --And he'll be home for Thanksgiving, yay!   Smiley

Reg. photos - Fantastic eye candy!  I love the owl.  I have a turtle I wear quite often.  Creature pins/other jewelry are cute!

Hair  Used up the last of the Pantene Thick and Full s+c and I'm glad--it didn't seem to be doing much lately.  So I bought more of the Pantene Volume s+c.

Other  Thanksgiving was fine--too much food as usual.  I'm starting to hate this holiday for just that reason.  Why does everything in our culture revolve around food, for crying out loud?!   Angry   Anyway, Army Son was home, so that was nice.  Everybody was happy and healthy and for that we were thankful.

I sometimes wonder about so much revolving around food too...and shopping.

But most cultures are that way I guess.  At least centralization of food for every holiday or celebration.  We need other customs! Grin

I'm glad you had a good holiday anyway.

Thursday 3 December 2009
Hair  Just made an appointment to get my hair cut next Wednesday.  I was toying with the idea of letting it grow all winter but I know in my heart it looks better shorter (with the thinning problem).  I'm considering having my stylist cut it as short as the original image.  I wish y'all could see the photo.  Well, in the photo, the front layer hits about an inch below the model's ear.  And the back layer hits right at her jawline.  I've been having my stylist cut it longer, at what she calls collar bone length.  I'm fine with that but for some reason, the shortness is calling my name.   Smiley  I don't think my family has ever seen me with hair that short...  Nope, the last time I had it that short would have been in, gosh--8th grade?  9th grade?  (just a few years ago!  LOL   Grin   )  I think I'm ready for my hair to be *that* short though.  I don't know; we'll see -- I have until 3:00pm next Wednesday to decide.   Roll Eyes
