Hair
First wash day, post-cut.  I am now using the Pantene Volumizing line--shampoo, condish, mousse, and hair spray.  Calm down...I won't be using the mousse and hair spray every day.   Wink  This weekend I need do to a vinegar rinse.  I'll also wash and condition, then let hair air dry so I can find out what this cut looks like with very little fussing.  --Cause you know I'm all about the no fussing where hair is concerned!

You have no idea how happy I am to realize that my hair is still long enough for me to use barettes and clips and combs and make a ponytail with.  CBL (collar bone length) is definitely the perfect length for me.  --Short enough to aid in the disguise of thinning spots, yet long enough to play with.   Cool

Fashion, dah-ling
Wearing a cranberry red corduroy button-down top today with wide leg chinos, grey socks and black loafers.  Casual yet smart looking.  One of the two pair of boots I ordered, the brown pair, has shipped and will hopefully arrive sometime next week.  The other pair, the black boots, are on back order and will not ship until May.
MAY?!   Shocked  Are you kidding me?  Argh.  Oh well.  By the time they arrive (IF they arrive) I won't need them and I can stash them away for next winter.  Still need to mail back the pair of brown shoes that don't fit...and I have to pay for return postage.  I don't think I like that part of the deal and I'm not sure I'll order anything else from them.

Other
No big plans for the weekend, thank goodness.  Need to do the usual cleaning, laundry, and grocery shopping.  I've been feeling chilly since last Saturday, unusual for me since I'm usually Miss Hot Flash.  So my goal this weekend is to finally warm up!   Wink

(and take photos of my hair!!)

Hair
I still haven't taken any photos of my new hair.   Shocked  --Must remember to do that...maybe tonight.  I do like this shorter length.  However, knowing that I'll probably never have long hair again makes me a little sad.  It is what it is, though, and I have to roll.
Washed and conditioned this morning with the volumizing line; left the towel wrapped around my hair while I ate breakfast, etc.  Then I used the blow fryer (on low) with a round brush to curl the ends under a bit.  Some hair spray set everythiing and I was ready to go.
My next experiment will be to wash and set it at night, with sponge rollers, to see if I can get some crazy curls going.   Wink

Fashion, dah-ling
Grey pinstripe trousers, slightly darker grey blouse, black pumps.  Thank God I have hips--I know, you don't see that in print every day, huh?!  But seriously...the trousers are too large and my hips are the only thing keeping them from dropping to my ankles!   Shocked  I guess I need to exchange them but, egads, I hate having to do that.  *sigh*

Other
Hubby and I saw our eye doctor this morning and both of us need new (stronger) lenses.  No surprise there.  This time I will be getting TWO sets of specs; one will be my regular bi-focal prescription and the other will be for reading/computer work only.  This way I won't have to crank my head back to read my pc screen.  Can't wait to get them!

Hair
No wash day; hair is down with the side bobby pinned.  And no, I still haven't taken pictures of my new 'do.   Roll Eyes

Fashion, dah-ling
Navy trousers with a rust-red corduroy shirt and black loafers.  The brown boots I ordered are too narrow and have been sent back.  I also cancelled the back-ordered black boots.  No sense in allowing them to arrive in May when I know they're too small.  So that's 3 strikes on shoes.   Tongue  You know what this means, don't you...?  This means I have to start visiting the *real* shoe stores in town.  --These stores should have a better selection of shoes, and at least offer me the opportunity to order wide width shoes that will fit, but the cost will be higher.  However it's important to have shoes that fit well and that give good arch support, especially as I get older.

Other
Stepson's graduation from basic training should happen on Friday March 27...unless he gets "recycled" back a few weeks.  He told his father there are a couple of areas he's not quite up to par on (physical things, I'm sure).  If improvement isn't realized in a certain amount of time then he'll have to repeat some courses and will not graduate on March 27.  *shrug*  It is what it is...

A blessed Ash Wednesday to all who celebrate this day.   Smiley

Walked on the ol' treadmill last night.  It had been a while, so I only did 20 minutes--should have changed into more comfy shoes.  Der!   Roll Eyes

Hair
No-wash day; hair is up.  Today I am wearing a light blue plastic barrette that I wore in elementary school.   Shocked  How cool is that?!  LOL  Actually, I have almost all of that group of barrettes my mother bought for me in...gosh, what year would that have been?  1973 or '74, I think.  There's light blue, pink, white, red, light green and yellow.   Smiley  I think mom got her money's worth out of those barrettes!!!   Grin

Ok, I'm writing myself a note right now, to remind myself to take pictures of my hair this weekend...sheesh.

Fashion, dah-ling
Dark wash jeans, light blue button front blouse (hence the matching light blue barrette), blue stripey socks and black loafers.  I really must go shoe shopping this weekend, as much as I dread it.

Other
Can you believe tomorrow is the last day of February?   Shocked  Holy Hannah.

Last evening I walked 25 minutes on my treadmill.   Smiley

No big plans for the weekend...except to go shoe shopping.  *sigh*

Okay...my husband and inlaws are starting to drive me crazy with this trip to SC for stepson's graduation from basic.  So far the plan is to leave on Wednesday the 25th and come back on Monday the 30th (I think).  My daughter and brother in law will be in charge of taking care of the house and cats; mostly daughter, since BIL may be out on the road.  But things keep getting added to this trip...first, it was just the 4 of us (me, hubby, inlaws) driving to SC for graduation and back home--easy, clean, quick and painless.  Then we find out that stepson's bio mom is also planning to attend graduation (NOT with us--separately).  So we may have to deal with running into her.  Stepson is now wondering if we can drive him to Augusta, GA after graduation, where he'll receive his AIT schooling.  We haven't said, one way or another, but I imagine we'll end up doing it.  So now hubby is talking about renting a van instead of driving the inlaws car.  And would I like to stop in Savannah, GA and try to eat at Paula Deen's restaurant?  And maybe we can stop in Charlotte and have a meal with a half sister of my mother in law?  And, and, and.

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm already at the point where I don't even want to go.  I have such a bad feeling about this trip, I can't even put it into words.  It's nothing specific, like I feel as if we'll die on the highway or anything.  Just a bad feeling in general.  *sigh*  I've told hubby that I just don't want this to turn into a circus.  You know?  Maybe it's just that I/we haven't taken a long trip like this in...gosh, 11 years?  10 at least.  So maybe I'm just out of practice.  Maybe once the packing of bags begins and I actually commit to getting in the vehicle and switch my brain into "road trip!!" mode then I'll feel better.   Undecided

Did I tell you I finally bought new shoes?  (searches recent journal entries).  I bought 3 pair:  2 pair of SAS loafers, one in dark brown and one in black, and one pair of lighter brown dress heels.  I already have a pair of black dress heels; I also already own 2 pair of dressier flats (black and brown).  I may need to have the new brown SAS loafers stretched a tad more (across the instep--of which mine is high) but otherwise I love 'em.

Other
My daughter received a letter from stepson (her stepbrother) on Monday, dated the 21st of February.  In it he expresses his fear of not being physically able to pass some of the requirements for graduation.  It seems as if a recruit must do a certain number of sit ups, push ups, and run 2 or 3 miles in a certain number of minutes.  And stepson cannot perform those tasks within the time limit.  (He will tell his stepsister this, but not us.)  Now...if he cannot pass those physical tests then the Army cannot advance him to AIT school.  At best, he would be "recycled" for a few weeks to determine whether he can improve.  Or he could receive a general discharge that, hubby says, would turn into an honourable discharge after a few weeks.  So at this point, who knows whether the trip to SC is on or not?  As in the past, when dealing with stepson, we are left hanging, waiting to see what happens.  I hate that.

Curls!!!   Grin  Washed and set my hair last night; used Pantene ice shine shampoo, no conditioner, no setting gel.  Used my large sponge rollers, put on my satin sleep cap and had curls galore this morning.  Although, since my hair is shortetr, I think I may need to start using the medium size curlers.  With our wind today, I probably should have used hair spray, but oh well.  *shrug*  Posted a photo for y'all to see.    Cheesy

Aye. Pretty sure they fall under the "protective footwear" required for work, so I could get away with it. Wink

Washed this morning, since the slept-in curls looked pretty blech.  Allowed hair to air dry; wearing a red barrette.  No mousse, no spray, no heat.

Fashion, dah-ling
Casual Friday...wearing jeans with sparkly things on the back pockets, a white button down shirt, grey socks and black loafers.  That was the best I could manage this morning.   Grin

Aww, thank you, honey.  *hugs*   Wink

Washed this morning with Pantene Volumizing shampoo and conditioner.  Honestly, I cannot tell a difference in the volumizing shampoo and the ther other Pantene lines, as far as my hair appearing fuller.  I will continue to use it because it's not hurting my hair, but it's certainly not helping in that respect.  Live and learn.  *shrug*
I didn't style it either this morning; just allowed it to air dry, then put in a snap barrette.  I guess I should at least use a curling iron on it every now and then, but I have no motivation to do so.  Plus it's hard, living in a house with only one bathroom...  Oh well, not a big deal.

Other
I was talking on Friday to a friend/co-worker about stepson's graduation and the concerns he had about not being able to pass the physical requirements test.  My friend, who was in the Army many years ago, said not to worry.  --That "they" (the Army) had advanced men for a lot less than being unable to pass the tests and if "they" really want him then stepson will pass.  Of course my friend is right...I hadn't thought of it that way.  Stepson telephone yesterday afternoon; he can now do everything on the test but he's about one minute shy on the running part.  So at this point, we're all pretty confident of him graduating, which means the SC trip is on.

An old friend, LB, will be in town this weekend, visiting her parents, so we're going to have breakfast on Saturday.   Cheesy  Hubby will be busy all day with a Masonic dealy-do, so this is perfect timing.
