Hair
Wash day; after towel drying I used the blow fryer to remove a little more of the wetness.  I only dried it to damp, however, not totally dry.  After eating breakfast and whatnot, I used a large barrell curling iron on the hair.  The bangs of my side part are mildly irritating because they keep wanting to fall into my eyes.  This will not do!  --So once again I'm wearing a small snap barrette.  When my hair was longer I could just tuck that part of my hair behind my ear and viola, no worries.  *sigh*

Need to change my avatar, since my hair is no longer that length, but it makes me a little sad to do so.   Undecided  Ah well...c'est le vie.

Hubby and I saw our eye doctor this morning and both of us need new (stronger) lenses.  No surprise there.  This time I will be getting TWO sets of specs; one will be my regular bi-focal prescription and the other will be for reading/computer work only.  This way I won't have to crank my head back to read my pc screen.  Can't wait to get them!

Finally, finally I have my reading glasses.   Cheesy  Just picked them up this morning--so far, so good.  It's nice being able to see my pc screen without the neck craning!

Hair
Wash day; just combed it out and let it air dry.  No heat products, no mousse, no spray.  As you can see, I've changed my avi.   Sad  Had to, because looking at my longer hair makes me sad right now.

Other
Having breakfast tomorrow morning with my dear friend LB.   Smiley  Can't wait!

About 10 days until we leave on vacation.  I know there's plenty of time, but I do not want to wait until the last minute to decide what to take and what not to take.  I am an organizer and a planner, so I like to have these things laid out in my mind ahead of time.  I even ordered a new bathrobe for the trip!  I've needed one for a while now, as my old one was stained, etc.  The new one arrived yesterday, so that's one thing stricken from the list.  I need to get one of my new pair of shoes stretched.  I need to get my new reading glasses adjusted.  Hmm, I may as well start making a list now...

I find it best to make lists before traveling too.  It's also helpful to refer to it when you're packing to come back home, just to make sure you don't leave anything behind.  I had to learn the hard way.  I once left an entire outifit and a cd player behind. Tongue

Hair  Wash day.  *shrug*  Not much else to tell.  I've already fallen into the habit of doing nothing to my hair and simply using a bobby pin to hold the left side in place.  *sigh*  *hangs head*

Other  Hubby and I had our cholesterol numbers done this morning.  His are fine (of course!) but, according to "industry standards", mine are not (of course!).  When the doc saw that my total cholesterol was 311 I thought he was going to have a heart attack!  Now, I knew my number was high; I also knew the doc would go down that you-must-take-drugs road.  As soon as he started to go that way, I told him in no uncertain terms that I WILL NOT take any kind of statin drugs.  Niacin, yes.  Statins, no.  I've read too many horrible things.  To my surprise, he didn't argue very hard at all.  So I now get to take Niacin and Omega-3 oil.   Cool

Hair  Yesterday was a no-wash day; I had my hair pinned/claw clipped up.  Nice to still be able to wear an up do.  Washed this morning and let hair air dry.  A small black snap clip is holding the bangs in place.

Other  6 days until we leave for SC (not counting today).  It's a good thing I started making lists, since it seems as if every day I think, "Oh, I need to remember XYZ before we leave."   Huh  It's pretty sad that I'm looking forward more to the trip being OVER than actually GOING...  I know I would be more excited if it was just me and hubby going on a real vacation.

Hair  No wash day; hair is up.   Smiley  I still miss my long hair...guess I always will.  But I will survive.   Wink

Other  Today I'm having lunch with my friend, T, and then we'll probably hit some antique stores downtown.   Smiley  This is spring break week at the university, so there's nothing going on.  My boss is also out of town so, heck yeah, I'm gone this afternoon!   Cool

5 days until we leave for SC.  I will have fun, I will have fun, I will have fun, I will have fun....   Undecided

Hair  Wash day.  My next trim is scheduled for April fool's day.   Shocked

Other  Secretary is out today, so guess where I am?

I'm getting together with my cancer survivor group at lunch today.

I did indeed have lunch with friend T yesterday.  I bought...I told her it was a belated birthday gift, her birthday being back in October.  But the truth is that I know she doesn't have a lot of money.  She has a crappy job and well, truthfully, she probably doesn't manage her finances as well as she ought.  Even though I was totally worn out afterwards from wandering around a HUGE antique store, I had a good time.  Sometimes it's nice to simply wander around with a buddy.   Smiley

Not counting today, since it's almost halfway over, there are 3 more days until we leave for SC.  Even with my three lists, I feel very unprepared for this trip.   Undecided  There are still too many variables left undecided for my comfort zone.  But all I can do is try my best to have a good time.

Out front. Bored out of your mind. Surfing the net while talking to morons on the phone. Like poor Midnight Angel. Grin

Be real, hunnay. Nobody manages their finances as well as they could/should. If they did, the world would be full of millionaires. Roll Eyes

Hair  No-wash day; hair is up.  I'm already dreading the next trim on April 1st, trying to talk myself into letting my hair grow again.   Shocked  Argh, I do miss my long locks.

Hmm.  You know, that's a good point.   Cool  *hugs*

So.  We leave for SC tomorrow morning at 7...and we STILL do not know for sure whether stepson will pass his PT and be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony.   Angry  He's scheduled to take the test again today, but warned that he may not have access to a telephone (to let us know one way or the other).  If he does not pass the PT then he will not participate in graduation and will be held over in a training unit.  In which case we'll find something else to do in SC.

I have such a feeling of dread about this trip.   Sad   There are just way too many things up in the air to suit me.  I hope once we get on the road I'll start to feel better.  So my friends, this will be the last entry for a while.  I should be back online April 1 and will let y'all know what happened.

Keep the faith   Cool

Back to work today, back online.  I don't have time to stay and do a proper write up today but wanted to let y'all know I survived (barely).  I'll write more tomorrow (hopefully).  Briefly, stepson DID pass his PT and graduated from basic.   Cheesy

p.s. saw LOTS of long hair during the trip!

Thursday 2 April 2009
Hair  I was supposed to get a trim yesterday, 6 weeks after my cut.  Did I go?  No.   Cool  I cancelled because...well, because I'm just don't want to get my hair cut every 6 weeks.  As much as I admire the skill of my stylist, I hate salons.  My hair looks fine and as you can imagine, it makes me happy to let it grow longer for a while.  So there.   Grin  Aside from that, it's a no-wash day; hair is up.

Other  I'm so happy to be back at home, back in a routine (as is hubby).  I can honestly say that was one of the worst trips I've ever been on.   Sad  Unfortunately the bad outweighed the good.  The one bright spot was getting to see and spend time with stepson, who shall herewith be called Army son.   Smiley  The change in that young man is stunning, just stunning.  He didn't have to say one word; he only had to turn to face us and we could all see the difference.  Before he stood and walked hunched over, as if trying to disappear into himself.  Now he stands tall and proud, full of confidence.  The self esteem fairly oozes from him.   Smiley  So kudos to the Army!

The trip itself, though, was stressful.  Hubby and I sat in the front of the car, with hubby doing all of the driving (his choice), and his parents rode in the back.  His mother, a former teacher (uh huh, I can see some of you nodding your heads already...) was "helping" give directions and warnings.  I dearly love both of my in-laws but there were several times when I wanted to duct tape her mouth shut.  Then the ex-wife was there, Army son's biological mother.  It's only natural she would want to see her son graduate from basic, we understood this.  And she was behaving herself--we all were for Army son's benefit.  But her very presence makes us tense up.  There were thousands of people on base, milling around, all trying (like us) to collect our soliders and transport them to Fort Gordon, Georgia.  Well, all of that extreme stress caught up with hubby on Friday afternoon late and he had an "episode".  He couldn't get his breath, his lips and fingers began to tingle and he got nauseous.  So he and I got to ride in an ambulance to the Dwight D. Eisenhower on-base hospital!   Sad  Shortly after the medics got hubby on some oxygen, though, he started coming around and talking again...I always know he's all right when he talks.   Wink  After many tests, all of which came back normal, the doctor suggested an overnight stay in a different, civilian hospital.  But hubby and I were/are convinced that what he had was a good old fashioned stress-induced anxiety attack.  He signed out AMA and off we finally went to drop numbly into our cheap motel beds.

It rained most of the time we were down there.  The fire alarm went off in the building where graduation was held.  What else?  *sigh*  There were so many little annoyances that I can't remember them all--and don't want to!  We were so fed up with the whole shebang that hubby drove straight through from Augusta, Georgia to Cape Girardeau, Missouri on Sunday.  We started out a little before 8 that morning and arrived home around 9:45, I think.  It was worth the exhaustian to get back home, though.  Hubby and I have vowed to never take another long trip with his parents again.   Angry   And I think it'll be quite a while before we take another "vacation"...   Shocked

Welcome back, Trisha!  Yay Army Son! Grin  Sorry that your trip didn't go so well.  Although, I'm sure your stepston was happy to see you all there and witness his graduation and transformation.

As I was reading through the list of your husbands symptoms, I immediately thought anxiety.  That's happened to me so many times...all too familiar.  Good thing it was nothing too serious.

Yep, it's been very rainy here in Georgia, still is.  It's a great time for us, as all of the recent rain has brought an end to our 3 year drought, but I suppose it isn't a great time for visitors. Embarrassed

As for your hair, I wouldn't worry about not getting it trimmed every 6 weeks.  As long as it's healthy and still looks good, who cares?  I think stylists sometimes recommend coming in regularly just to keep business up.

Welcome back, Trisha! Smiley

Good to hear that the Army training has had a positive effect on your stepson. Anti-military as I may be, I have known it to benefit people (ahem, boys) who are in dire need of discipline. Let us hope that your stepson has a rewarding career ahead of him.
