Hair and Pregnancy

Hi Ladies,

As you know I am trying to get preganant and was wondering what happens to your hair when you are?  I was told it would get nice and thick and turn really curly or go pin straight by Don.  I remember someone telling me that she cut off all her long hair when she had her baby as she had not more time to look aftet it(not going to happen!)  So if anyone has any advise or a heads up let me know Smiley

I understand that a woman's folicles stay in the growth period while she's pregnant instead of going to its natural rest period, which means the hair does get thicker.  The problem is that all of those that would have shed do at the end of the pregnancy, so it seems like yr going bald.  At least that's the way it seemed to me! Shocked But my hair wasn't really any thinner than before I got pregnant.

Taking yr vitamins while you're pregnant is also very important, because the baby needs lots of vitamins and yr hair can suffer for that.

Yep, ditto what Skyfire said.  My hair grew very fast and was very thick during my pregnancy.  Then I shed like crazy after the baby.  But it returned to my normal thickness, etc.  My hair got darker after the pregnancy (not uncommon for blondes) but the texture did not change for me.  Menopause, on the other hand put major waves into my hair.
