Hi, Curlgirl, yes. that is very nice.  My hair has been growing continuously since I decided to grow it out, and I am very pleased with that.  It has always grown fast.  When I wore it very short that was really a problem.  I have always wished it would grow twice as thick, and would settle for half as fast.  Smiley
Oiled last nite, shampooed with Burt's Bees Volumizing shampoo, did a vinegar rinse, and finished with Burt's Bees deep conditioner.  Then applied the Goldman Shine and Vitality spray.  My hair seems curlier and fuller and shinier.  I think I like it better than the Redken gel because I can comb my hair with no breakage.   With my hair being so fine, the gels and mousses are too heavy, unless I am really sparing with the application.

I think I like the Burt's Bees best of the 3 sulfate-free shampoos I have tried.  I liked the effect of the BedHead, but my hair seemed really dirty on the third day, and I don't like to shampoo oftener than that.  I am going to get the L'Oreal deep conditioner and see if BedHead makes a deep conditioner, too, as I like to use matching products when I shampoo.   They are designed to work together, so it just makes sense.

Weather is really crappy today.  Cloudy and not over 70.  That really depresses me.  I like summer.  I want sun and temps of at least 80.   We have had maybe 5 days of summer weather so far this year.   I hate living in this climate.

Sunny and 110+ here.

I've never tried Burt's Bees shampoo or conditioner.  Have you ever tried a curl creme?  They can be very light weight.

I visited AZ in July several yrs. ago and thought it was fascinating.  I don't know if I would miss grass and trees, but I absolutely wouldn't miss cloudy days.  Wish I could have stayed longer.

We are having really crappy weather.  20 to 30 degrees below normal, clouds and some rain.  I hate it.  I miss summer like I used to have in Springfield, which pretty much has the same weather as St. Louis--hot and humid.  I can cope with that; I lived with it for 38 yrs.  I can't cope with this.  It really puts me in a bad mood.  I want sun, soon and lots of it.  Angry

Shampooed yesterday and used Goldman's Shine and Vitality spray and think I really like it.  Rinsed my hair in the shower this am, and it still looks full and curls nicely.  I probably could have skipped rinsing, but the cats kept waking me up last nite, and I didn't have the energy to put it up before I got in the shower.

Am sewing a new bodice this pm.  Coming along just fine, except that I sewed the linings for the peplums wrong sides together.   Roll Eyes  Took me about 30 sec. to calculate that it would take less time just to cut new pieces, which I did.   Oh, well.

Sounds good!  Thank God for seam rippers when you need them!  I've been caught between a rock and a hard place when it came to either ripping something out or just cutting a new piece.

Thank God for seam rippers when you need them!

You're not kidding.  I buy them 3 and 4 at a time.  They're like needles, if you have only one, it will break when you are on a sewing streak late at nite and the stores are closed.  I just bought 2 packages of denim needles for the machine.  I was down to one in the machine and one in the drawer, so judged it to be time.  I had jammed a needle in the machine the day before and had to cut it with pliers and take the machine apart to get it out.  That isn't the first time that has happened.  Renn garb requires a heavy needle, the fabrics are heavy and you are sewing anywhere from 2 to 6 or 8 lyers at a time.

The bodice is finished except for putting in the grommets and sewing tape over the edges of the sleeve caps.  Will do that tomorrow, then decide what I will do next.

Rearranged my closets today to make room for more garb.  Counted up all the material I have on hand and it comes to 4 more bodices, 1 chemise, and 13 skirts.  Roll Eyes  Sacre bleu!!  I must have been crazy last year.

I miss seam rippers and I don't know why I haven't done anything to rectify the situation.  There are so many little details in different garments I could quickly do with seam rippers, thread and hand needle.

Will you post photos of your sewings when you're done?  I've been lurking on some other ladies sewing photos and it's just incredible what women of all ages can make.  I had two friends in pre-school who were already sewing all their own clothes.  I wish my mother had taught me.

Pics,please!
Just curious,Melusine, what kind of sewing machine do you have/use?
I change my needles after each project or if a project has two different fabrics being used that need two different needles,I change accordingly.
When things are settled here,I will post pics of the three tunics I made. I didn't follow the pattern or fabrics as per the instructions, but am pleased with the outcome for all three.  I never made a shirt of any kind before so this was fun and a learning experience!

I will try to get pics, as soon as I figure out the camera.  It just hasn't had made my priority list, but it will.  Smiley

I use a Husqavarna Huskystar 207. It is a portable, and, I think, next to the smallest machine they make.  I really like it.  Before I used Kenmores and Singers, but like it better than either of them.  However, if and when I replace it, I will buy a Pfaff.  My sis-in-law has one and it is wonderful!  I used it 2 yrs ago when I made the Shakespeare in Love Elizabeth gown for her and was very impressed with it.  Runs very quietly and smoothly, purrs like a cat, and feels very powerful.  My sis has the top-of-the-line Pfaff that is computerized and does embroidery!   Hmm...think what I could do with cuffs and collars with that?  Grin  Oh, yeah!!  I may to get one of those sooner than I planned.   But before that, I need a bigger sewing area to have room for 2 machines.

I go back and forth between denim and sharp needles--denims for skirts and bodices and sharps for chemises.   I use needles until they break, which they do, long before they get dull or start snagging things.  Sewing over pins and working with boning doesn't do much for the life of a needle. Roll Eyes

You know, Drear, I pretty much taught myself.  My mom sewed when we were kids, but didn't teach us, in particular.  I started out with Simplicity Easy patterns and inexpensive fabric and went on from there.  I never did master making pants or trousers to fit.  That is hard to do, but I've made skirts, dresses, blouses, evening and wedding gowns, as well as Renn garb.

It has been one really awful day.  One hour of sun, and that is all I have seen all week.

Running errands this pm, a local cop pulled me over because he said I ran a stop sign, which I did not.  Okay, it may have been a rolling stop, but I didn't go thru it at full speed.   He gave me a warning ticket.  With all the gang and drug problems in this town, why does he have time to give out warning tickets??

Then later I was waiting to make a right turn out of a parking lot into traffic, when the woman behind me started honking!  I nearly got out of the car to ask her what her problem was.  Instead, I frowned at her in the rearview mirror, and gave her the famous one-finger salute.  When we got into traffic and she sailed past me, I saluted her again.  Smiley  Sometimes, I wonder what is in some people's heads.   Huh

Okay, just venting makes me feel better.

Went to WalMart and bought the L'Oreal deep conditioner and Smooth Frizz-Free Serum.  Tomorrow would be shampoo day, but we are going to a party Sat. nite, so I will wait 'til Sat. to shampoo and condition and try the serum.

*Hugs*  It's so frustrating when you're accused of doing something you don't think you did and that lady.....well, we don't know what kind of a day she had.
