Hi, Melusine.  I'm glad your new trim is working for you.  My hubby has a lot of cowlicks.  I'm getting a little layering in the back on Wednesday.  I hope it makes my hair look better!

How's the choir rehearsals going?

Hi, Sakina, choir rehearsals are going well.  I missed last week because after 3 10-hr. days on my feet at Bristol, I couldn't do a 15-hr. day at school.  So I taught my classes and did my hours in lab, then went home and took a long nap.

Tonite was rehearsal nite again, and it went well.  Even Messiah made sense, with all the trills.

It's late and I am going to bed.  Write more tomorrow.

I'm sorry about your friend's passing.  I'm glad to read that classes are going well.  I don't know what your hair color(s) look like now.  Could it just be the contrast between hair and scalp?  If it didn't look really unnatural and unflattering in contrast to the rest of my hair, I'd definitely want a lighter top.  I don't know if I'm too old for this but I try to hide my parting with ½ updos and alice bands if I want my hair down.

Hi, Drear, my hair is very dark brown, so it probably is the contrast.  But I still don't like it.  If it really doesn't look good, I put it up, sometimes with a claw clip and sometimes with a Tony Pony.

So tomorrow after classes, I leave for St. Louis to work the weekend at Pirate Fest.  It is only for this weekend, so that will be a lot of work to set up the big tent, set up all the tables and arrange all the jewelry, then take it all down and load the van Sun nite.  I am not looking forward to that part of it.

Just finished decorating a black felt pirate hat.  Sewed wine bias tape aroung the brim and antique gold braid next to that on the underside of the brim.  Then I pinned up the brim on the left with a pirate ship pin and a red ostrich plume.  With a red snood and red crystal slave drape earrings, it will look quite pirate-y.  Will tell you all about it on Mon.

Will think good thoughts for you, Sakina, on Sat.  Break a leg!

I am back from St. Louis, which was good on Sat, we had good sales, and good weather.  I wore the new black suede bodice I bought the last day of Bristol with the wine damask panel tied on to cover the lacing, a wine skirt with gilded ribbon outlining the plum unwaled corduroy border and guards, and an ivory chemise with gilded black ribbon ruching the length of the full sleeves.  It all looked good with the pirate hat and a red snood.  Sun we were rained out.  The site has a stream running through and it flooded after heavy rains in the early am.  We couldn't get in to the site to tear down until the pm.  It looks like we won't do Pirate Fest next year.  Altho' sales were good, it's a lot of work for one day's sales, and when you take into consideration gas and the driving time.....

My hair has been behaving better since I got color and cut a week ago Sat.  Today it curled very nicely all by itself.  Of course, it has been pretty humid.  I shampooed yesterday in the am, and by the time I got to school, I looked like a demented dandelion.  Grin
So put it up with a claw clip.  We'll see how it looks tomorrow.

Fri I leave for Rock Island, IL to work at Four Kingdoms.  It's a small fair that runs only one weekend, so will be a new experience.  It's supposed to rain off & on on Fri and Sat, but will be clear on Sun.  Of course, any weather person who is really honest will tell you that any forecast looking further ahead than 4 hrs. is guessing.   Roll Eyes

Well, I am back.  Four Kingdoms was a bust.  A small fair, very nice people, but may not happen next year.  Our sales were really bad, so we won't be back.  Just before the fair, I re-sprained my left foot and ankle, and had a really bad time.  Wore my ren boots and that was a mistake.  Could barely walk by Sun nite.  Tomorrow I leave for Stronghold, a weekend fair in Oregon, IL north and west of here.  It is supposed to be chilly, so will take my flannel petticoat and cloak.  I have a pair of very lightweight maryjanes that I can wear with socks, so will take those and hope for the best.

My hair has been behaving well.  I am back to using the Burt's Bees Volumizing products with vinegar rinses.  When I started shedding so much in the summer, I panicked and stopped using the vinegar rinses and switched to the L'Oreal moisturizing products.  Left my hair limp.  I won't make that mistake again.

Life has been very problematic lately.  On the way home from 4 Kingdoms,  I was really tired, but wanted to fill the tank before I got home so I wouldn't have to do it in the am on my way to teach my classes.  Ran into a high curb and blew a tire and ruined the rim.  $1100 later I have the car back, but the mechanic says there is a little noise that may indicate the bearing is going.   I have a huge bruise on my left leg, which isn't helping the swelling around the foot and ankle.  On Tues I was changing my password on the college computer system, when I hit a wrong key and got locked out of the system.  Today I lost my cell phone, but very furtunately found it where I had left it on a desk in the Speaking Center.  So maybe things are looking up.  I absolutely wouldn't have wanted to tell my husband I lost the phone after the car expense.  Roll Eyes

(((hugs)))

Wow.  That sounds like the crappiest week ever!

Arnica gel will heal bruises really fast and take the pain away.  Where's the chivalrous men?  Surely someone has a horse they can give you a ride on to and from your shop! Huzzah!

Feel better soon!

Thank you, Sakina, Curlgirl and Drear.  The week is over, thank heaven.  It ended with a weekend at Stronghold Renaissance Faire in Oregon, IL.  I was working for Pendragon.  Drove thru rain to get there and it rained off & on all Fri pm, so Andi & I checked into the hotel and went out to dinner.  Got up really early and got to the site by 7am to set up the tent and displays.  Started raining again at 10am and rained all damned day.  We had little streams running thru our tent.  And it was COLD. We were freezing.  Had to keep putting stuff out and bringing it in, had to change the tablecloths and some of the displays.  The gates shut at 4pm and we closed up everything and went back to the hotel for warm DRY clothes.  Then out to dinner for big steaks and drinks.

Sunday was better--sunny most of the day, altho' still chilly.  I wore jeans, kneesocks and gym shoes under my skirts for warmth.  Had to wear the gym shoes as the shoes I wore Sat were ruined.  They were absolutely soaked and the soles came apart when they dried.  Discovered when I got to my car that I had lost my bodice knife.  That irritated me.  This is the second one I've lost.

My hair has been behaving quite well.  I am back to using the Burt's Bees volumizing shampoo and conditioner, with jojoba oil the night before and vinegar rinse.  It seems thicker, and curlier and doesn't part so easily over my cowlick.  So, I like it again.  I wasn;'t liking my hair at all this summer, but realize now that it was my own fault.  I panicked over how much I was shedding and totally changed my hair care routine--conditioner every day, no vinegar, and moisturizing shampoo, which left my hair limp and did nothing for the shedding. Roll Eyes  That's a lesson learned.

How's your shedding now?  I don't know if I've noticed a change.  I'm not conscious of it now.  Just normal loss but still short sticking ends. Sad  Hmm...you ladies are making me curious about these Burt's Bees products.  My dad can buy them at fx. Target for me.  He knows of their lipbalms, but I worry about the shipping cost.  Well, he's gonna start by sending me their lipbalms.  That's a start. Grin

I don't know why it says "ex-member".  We had an issue with that awhile back, though I don't know what the solution is.

Melusine, what's a bodice knife???
