Ugh, it's early. Tongue

Yesterday was the craziest day I've had in a long while. All I wanted was a new manicure...and just when I'd all but succeeded, chaos.

There I was, touching up the edges of my nails with acetone for a perfect outline when my sister's bf appeared and asked if he could get into the bathroom (which is where I was). I said sure, figuring that he'd only be in there for a few seconds and I could get right back to what I was doing, so I left everything as it was - polish remover, Q-tips, etc.

After quite a long while, my sister decided that she needed in there also, since she had to get ready for work, so I waited and waited. That was when I heard the crash.

Apparently in a moment of clumsiness, my sis had knocked the bottle of acetone over, spilling almost all of its contents onto the floor. She immediately grabbed the rugs and rinsed them in the bathtub and grabbed a towel for the floor...but the damage there was already done. The acetone had bleached and dissolved the vinyl facing on 2 of the tiles and every sweep of the towel made it worse. My sis panicked, knowing our parents would skin her alive if they found out.
Then I remembered that my father still had a few tiles leftover somewhere, and since they were the peel & stick variety, I could pull the damaged ones up and replace them. I found the leftover tiles in my father's shed out back...so after my sis left for work, I retrieved a few while my father was busy cleaning the garage and my mother was out running errands.

Grabbing a steak knife from the kitchen, I then locked myself in the bathroom for about an hour and went to work on the tiles which was no easy task! After much sweat and pretty much destroying the steak knife, my hair towel and a few freshly-manicured nails, the new tiles were in place.

That and I'd thrown the rugs and towel in the wash, along with a few other things, so once they were done, our bathroom was complete again. My parents never found out what had happened. And they never will. Wink

My sister hugged me when she came home and saw my handiwork and even gave me money to go out and get frozen yogurt. Grin

My nails also survived the fiasco with some repair work. They've been shellacked enough by now to withstand a 3rd world war and possibly a natural disaster.

Of course, because chaos is a self-indulgent thing and you can never have too much craziness at once, one of our neighbours went away in an ambulance last night for reasons unknown...and we also had 2 earthquakes: a 5.9 and a 5.7, both in the Mexicali area. Also, 2 people called yesterday wanting to arrange interviews with me. When it rains, it pours, as they say.

So I have a live interview and a phone interview to look forward to today...we'll see what else fate decides to throw at me. Good thing I thrive in chaos. Roll Eyes

Anyway, as for the hair, at least there's nothing crazy to report there. Same old routine and I'm even liking the new Suave Pro shampoo. Smiley

This morning I should be clarifying but since I have an interview, I'm just going to do the usual CWC, etc. so styling will be easier. I'll likely do the funky, twisted updo...or something.

For now however, I'm going to take my time, have breakfast, go through my morning routine and put myself together properly. By this afternoon, I'll be ready to interview with corp goth style. Wish me luck!

Trish & Curlgirl: Thanx, guys. Of course there ended up being no interviews yesterday. Tongue But I do have one tomorrow as well as an "in" at another company that's hiring, so we'll see.

Hair: Clarified. Finally exhausted the diluted clarifying blend that I'd had forever and will now be using full strength Herbal Essences Drama Clean shampoo on clarifying days.

Conditioned with Pantene Deep Fortifying treatment. No leave-ins. It's rather amazing how much shine my hair has naturally when I skip the leave-ins. Especially on the ends.
Really starting to reconsider the oil thing again.

At the moment, my hair's still drying. I'll braid it eventually.

Etc.: So I have a free day today. What to do?

Hair: Yesterday I did a CWC, applied the usual leave-ins, air dried, then styled my signature funky, twisted updo. Used Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly spray gel to pull the numerous strays into formation.

This morning my hair's a right mess as it always is the day after a twisted updo. I'm going to just do a WCC with Tousle Me Softly S&C + TRESemmé anti-breakage conditioner. Not sure about leave-ins yet. I'll definitely use the spray conditioner...dunno about the ELOO. Style will be simple - just a single braid probably.

Etc.: Well, I put myself together yesterday and was just about ready to leave for the interview when they called to tell me it was canceled and the position is on hold. Angry

So I ended up doing sod-all yesterday...I'm not sure I even went out of the house.

But it's a new day and it's going to be a better one, darnit. I refuse to be stifled by unemployed ennui or anything else. There's just too much to be seen and done.

Has anyone noticed all of the summer/semi-annual sales cropping up hither and yon? That only means one thing, darklings. Fall stuff is coming! Cheesy

Curlgirl & Sakina: Yeah, it was a bummer. Bummers happen. Keep on truckin'.

Hair: Yesterday's routine ended up being a legitimate Friday WTC. Spray conditioner blend was the only leave-in. I was naughty and dug out the blowfryer after my hair was about 90% dry...just to see if drying upside down would give the roots a little lift (which it does...very little). Style was a single braid.

Today it was a CWC + the usual leave-ins. No blowfryer. Style is a bun.

Etc.: Spent the better part of this afternoon hemming almost every pair of trousers I own.

Got a raging toothache today. UGH, how I wish I could afford dental work!

Anyway, back to the job search.
For no reason at all (other than my neverending obsession with Tom Petty), I leave you with one of my favourite music videos of all time.

Congratulations on fixing the floor without your parents knowing.  That was fast thinking and proof that you are cool under pressure.  Way to go!!!   Wink

I am sorry about the cancelled interview.  I keep hoping for you.  You deserve something really good to happen for you, and soon.  Sending good intentions your direction.

Great attitude and it sounds like you're good at keeping a cool head.  I hope something soon comes up though and preferably something that can bring in a steady income and security.

So I'm not alone in thinking about a few decor and wardrobe updates plus new make-up in Fall even though we're only in June?

Up until you posted this message, I had avoided Lady Gaga like the plague.  And then you had to go and pique my curiosity.   Cool  Now I can't stop watching the dad-gummed video.  The song is...meh, okay.  The video itself is what makes the song worthwhile, I think.  I've always been a sucker for that sort of sharp, tight choreography.

Mel: Thank you so much, hon. Bless your heart. Kiss

Drear: You're definitely not alone. Fall and winter are when I stock up for the rest of the year! Wink
And thanks, I'm hoping the same.

Trisha: Grin Addictive little thing, isn't she? Such an artist. The first half of the video is like a gothic high fashion magazine. And I love that line "she hides true love en su bolsillo."

Hair: Clarified yesterday, CWC today. The usual woes of using Herbal Essences may be realized. Sad On one hand, the dryness on the back of my neck isn't as bad as it has been in the past. On the other, it might be just a matter of time before it gets that way and I don't want to keep using it if that's the case. *sigh* Decisions, decisions.

For the last 3 days, the only leave-in I've been using is a blended spray conditioner. No oil or any sort of end treatment and my hair surely suffers for it. Next week I'll have to arrange a trim.

Style today was a bun. It's usually that or a braid. Simple stuff.

Spent a good deal of time today decorating my last headband. This one's adorned with black bling:

...

Etc.: So it's now summer. Fine. One step closer to fall. Wink And what else have I been up to? What haven't I?
This evening I put together a brand new résumé (my parents' computer finally got an upgrade) and printed it out on pretty parchment paper.

Last night I washed my car. Was going to work on the interior tonight but there wasn't room in the driveway and I can barely move as it is. Kicked my own butt working out. Tongue

As you can probably tell from the pic above, my nails are now a cool, dull silver. I don't dig. Why doesn't anyone know how to make a good silver anymore? All of the cosmetic companies seem to be dancing all around it with dove grays, pewters, bluish gunmetals and sparkly platinums...but no true silvers. Undecided

Anyroad, that's about all for now. Thanking God for the lack of discomfort in my mouth of late. Praying for the complete recovery of my 18 year old cousin who's been recently stricken with Bell's Palsy. And wishing our team well in the World Cup tomorrow. USA!

Super cute headband!  I like the black bling a lot!!

Have you checked China Glaze nail polish?  They have a wide variety of colors and they're long wearing-at least the reds are on me.  I hope you find the silver you want.

I agree with Sakina,cute headband!
I hope your cousin is feeling better.  My aunt had an attack of Bell's Palsy also.  It took a few weeks for it to clear up.  I've heard it can be months to clear up.  I hope that is not the case for your cousin.
Go USA!!!  I hope they continue to do well.

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention I had Bell's Palsy in '99.  I used acupuncture, cranial sacral therapy and and antiviral med.  I have zero residual effect-you can't look at my face and tell I ever had it.  I hope your cousin comes through equally well.
