Dichroic glass is created using layers of metallic oxides. The beautiful colorplay for which these beads are known occurs when light strikes the glass. Every piece of dichroic glass displays three colors: a color that is reflected, a color that is transmitted, and a reflective color that is viewable from a 45-degree angle. These properties allow the colors in this spectacular glass to change as light hits it from different angles.
The end of each of these hair pins is adorned with a spectacular sea green and gold dichroic glass bead, nestled into a gold plated fluted bead cap. A gold plated vintage Swarovski Sapphire rhinestone rondelle occupies the center position. A gorgeous gold and sapphire blue crackle glass cushion bead, topped with a gold plated filigree bead cap, sits below. Gold plated heishi beads complete the hair jewelry design. The hair sticks are hand carved bone finished in ultra pearlescent gossamer swirls of sea green, sapphire blue and gold under layers of protective clear enamel. These one-of-a-kind hair accessories measure 5 3/8" from end to end.
