New ‘Designer Stuff I Scored’ Cover Stories

I have finally decided on a format for my “Stuff I Scored” Cover Stories and am going to start adding new reviews on a regular basis.  I have broken the Cover Stories up into separate categories, which currently include Cosmetics, Hair and Beauty, Designer Handbags, Designer Shoes and Boots, and Designer Sunglasses and Accessories.  Watch for “Designer Jewelry and Watches” and “Designer Housewares and Home Fashions” to be added in the next few days.  I have many, many, MANY reviews of fabulous items to add to these Cover Stories, so keep your eyes open for the latest and greatest!

Please note that I make it a point to write thorough, accurate and most importantly, honest reviews and will continue to do so (no matter what the source of the item I am reviewing), even when it pains me to give a bad critique.  I’m such an addict of designer goodies that I actually  buy the majority of what I review myself, thus I have little occasion to even be exposed to outside influences; however, I feel very strongly that if you can’t be trusted to give an honest review no matter what the source of the item you are reviewing , then you don’t possess the level of integrity required to do the job at all.  I find, to a great level of personal angst, a general lack of integrity runs rampant on the internet and it’s important to me that my readers know I can be trusted under any circumstances.  This recently became even more apparent to me when I was perusing a couple freelance writers’ sites.  I was both shocked and disgusted by just how many thousands of companies actually hire people to write positive reviews for items the potential reviewers know absolutely nothing about!  I found this discovery to be both rather sad and extremely disturbing.  I hardly think of myself as being naive but apparently I am… it never even occurred to me that anyone would do this, either as a company or a writer.  I use reviews a lot when making major purchases but now I don’t think I’ll ever trust a public review again, or at least not without a huge grain of salt.  That is not how I want Style & Angst to be perceived.  Ever.

Anyway, I’m going to get started on this big job I have ahead of me, and am off to review a pair of Rock & Republic shades.  Be sure to check out the Cover Story Stuff I Scored: Designer Sunglasses and Accessories in a little while to see what I really think of them!

Susan Maxwell Schmidt is the internationally-collected jewelry artist behind LongLocks HairSticks. Her designs have appeared in Demetrios Bridal's "For the Bride" magazine and "Upscale Magazine." The LongLocks HairSticks Boutique was Lucky Magazine's top pick for Best Hair Web Site in their May 2009 issue.

Though a native New Yorker, Ms. Schmidt currently resides in the fashion non capitol of the world–East Nottingham, PA–where the Amish are the fashion trendsetters and John Deere green appears in the color forecast every season.

Ms. Schmidt enjoys driving fast, annoying her husband, sleeping late and disturbing the neighbors. She also fancies herself a fashionista, though this is likely nothing more than a rather sad delusion on her part. It’s best just to play along.
