What I Think: I LOVED this bag!  I also returned this bag.  It wasn’t easy but it had to be done.  The leather on this bag is absolutely gorgeous, the bag is huge, and the color is divine. The design?  Not so much.  The straps that wrap around the bag are supposed to attach to the front with magnets.  Unfortunately, the magnets are not very strong, and if you open the bag wide enough to put the least amount of pressure on them, they pop right off.  Even worse, the strap on the right-hand side of the bag I received was cut about a half inch longer than the strap on the other side.  This caused the right-hand strap to sit at an odd angle, putting enough stress on the magnet to make it pop off all by itself.  The whole strap thing is a major design flaw.  The straps serve no purpose other than an aesthetic one,  and if they didn’t pop off by themselves you would have to go through the motions of detaching and reattaching both of them them every time you wanted to open the bag more than a few inches.  That’s too much work for me.  I’m not entirely convinced that all this style Katie Bags have this magnet issue (and this is the first time I have ever returned an item to Editor’s Closet).  Check out You are Cordially Invited for all the details! I’ll tell you what though, if it weren’t for the strap issue, this bag would have been worth every penny of even Rocco e Dante’s retail price, it’s that gorgeous! [Ed’s Note: I ended up scoring another Rocco e Dante bag in the same gorgeous leather in a fold over clutch style… stay tuned for the review!)

Rocco e Dante bags can be a real challenge to find at any sort of discount, but you might get lucky at CoutureCandy Scored: Designer Handbags

What I Think: I LOVE this bag! The color is gorgeous, the leather is as smooth as butta and very substantial, it is beautifully made, and it is currently my favorite bag (and it has tons o’ competition). My only complaint is that the shoulder strap, which I never use, can be unbuckled but is not completely removable. Otherwise love it love it LOVE IT! I’m only sorry I didn’t get it in stone when I had the chance. Must track one down, I know it’s not going to be easy to find.  In the meantime, you can sometimes find La Marthe handbags Scored: Designer Handbags at Amazon.

What I Think: Oh my, my, my.  Just got this today.  Delicious!  Gorgeous thick, embossed leather, beautiful hardware (including an adjustable closure that locks), and a shimmering lining that is every bit as pretty as the bag.  They call the color bronze, but it’s indescribable, a sort of cross between bronze and gold.  Very rich, very elegant.  No exterior pockets, two interior zipped pockets and a cellphone pocket.  Time to scour the closet for earthy-colored stuff, this needs to go for a test drive pronto!  If you want one, try  Shoebuy

How She Rolls
Susan Maxwell Schmidt is the internationally-collected jewelry artist behind LongLocks HairSticks. Her designs have appeared in Demetrios Bridal's "For the Bride" magazine and "Upscale Magazine." The LongLocks HairSticks Boutique was Lucky Magazine's top pick for Best Hair Web Site in their May 2009 issue.

Though a native New Yorker, Ms. Schmidt currently resides in the fashion non capitol of the world–East Nottingham, PA–where the Amish are the fashion trendsetters and John Deere green appears in the color forecast every season.

Ms. Schmidt enjoys driving fast, annoying her husband, sleeping late and disturbing the neighbors. She also fancies herself a fashionista, though this is likely nothing more than a rather sad delusion on her part. It’s best just to play along.
