New York Spring 2010 Fashion Week: Best in Show
Beyond compare. Breathtakingly beautiful. Dream dresses. Fantasy gowns. The epitome of glamour. Worn by the likes of Jessica Alba, Jennifer Lopez, Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett, Penélope Cruz and Renee Zellweger.
Marchesa, who almost always competes with Dior for my favorite when it comes to Fashion Week, has run away with the coveted Style & Angst prize (a lovely block of pine wood tastefully inscribed with a black Sharpie) for Top Designer of the Year this time around. I’ll let the pics do the talking, they describe Georgina Chapman‘s incomparable talent much more effectively than I ever could… the true definition of “what dreams are made of.” Which is bad grammar by the way, it should be “that of which dreams are made.” Alas, there I go digressin’ again.
I couldn’t bring myself to pick only five, it proved just too painful a proposition… I did manage to narrow it down from my original sixteen tho:
And the Best of Show of Best of Show?
Oh, to have the opportunity to wear a Marchesa gown just once in my lifetime. Just once, that’s all I ask. What dre… errrr, that of which dreams are made!
Congrats on your win Marchesa! I’ll get your Style & Angst trophy in the mail ASAP. Be sure to watch for it!
Drool for yourself over at wwd.com and check out the entire Marchesa Spring 2010 Collection.

All Dressed Up…
…and someplace to go! How gorg, as Rachel Zoe would say, is this??
It’s the “Troy” blush charmeuse silk gown by Luca Luca. And guess what? This baby retails for $3,900 but it’s only $599 at Rue La La for the next 20 hours or so (I don’t know how many they have, but it’s not likely this lovely piece is going to last that long). If you really do have someplace to go, what a way to go in style for a bargain! I’ve included the invitation code in the link, so you can just click to get in if you want to check it out. Right now it’s still available in U.S. sizes S-XL (European sizes 40-48). You’ll find it under “The Final Sale Fashion Volume 2.” LOVE it! Reminds me a bit of Gwen Stafani’s killer Dior wedding gown, and is certainly phenomenal enough to get married in… or make the most of not being married in.
