There are only four special order versions of this design available.
Industrialized glass making began in the Czech Republic, formerly known as Czechoslovakia, in the early 15th century. Local production throughout the country was characterized by many small workshops that specialized in the blowing, engraving, cutting and the painting of glass and crystal. Bohemian glass was originally thought to be magical, as was Prague considered a magical city. Bohemian glass has been famous worldwide since the 18th century, although local production of glass actually started in the 14th century. Bohemian glass is still very popular today and is used extensively throughout the jewelry making industry.
The end of each of these hair sticks is adorned with an ornate vermeil (genuine 22kt. gold over sterling silver) stardust bead. A vermeil spacer bead, surrounded with gold plated Bohemian cherry red crystal aurora borealis rhinestone rondelles, occupies the center position. An ornate Turkish vermeil filigree bead sits below. Gold plated heishi beads complete the hair jewelry design. The hair sticks are elegantly carved bone, hand painted in satiny cherry red under layers of protective clear enamel. These one-of-a-kind LongLocks hair accessories measure 5 3/4" long from end to end.
