Venetian glass beads are made in Venice, Italy on the island of Murano. The beads seen today can be traced to the 11th century, when the beadmakers were executed if they attempted to leave the island with their precious beadmaking secrets! The end of each of these hair pins is adorned with a vintage amethyst purple Venetian glass teardrop bead with ribbons of sparkling gold aventurine, nestled into a vintage gold plated filigree bead cap. A Swarovski Amethyst bicone crystal sits below. Gold plated heishi beads complete the design. The hair sticks are natural hand carved bone detailed with genuine amethyst purple pansy flower petals under layers of protective clear enamel. The hair accessories measure 6 1/8" from end to end.
