Sometimes I think by myself I would like to have bangs again but remembering how getting on my nervs it was every time I wanted it to grow out I leave everything as it is. The only possibility Is pulling it straight back if you want to have a good view until it´s grown out  ???
Seems to be a little bit annoying.

Headbands can work well to hold back the bangs while they are growing out.  A scarf can be tied as a head band if you want something wider that will hold the bangs when they are shorter.  Once they get long enough you can pull them back into a barrette.

Twisted ropes on both sides can also be done to hold the shorter hair and blend it in with the longer hair.  Just be careful not to pull too tightly on the hair and cause it to break.

I have started growing my bangs out in in layers, 3 stages of length, so my bangs will just kept getting thinner until they are wispy and then they will be gone.  It is easier for me to train a few thin layers at a time.

I curl the long bangs on work days and use pretty bobbie pins to keep them out of my eyes. For the days when my hair is down I picked up some cloth covered headbands that I love and they stay in place even with straight silky hair. 

If all else fails, and it is a really bad bang day, hide the scissors and use a hat or scarf to hold them back

Widow's peaks, freckles, and dimples are God given gifts.  Enjoy them for those of us who would love to have them.

I started growing out my bangs a few years ago and am finally at the point where they will stay in a pony tail, bun, or whatever style I choose.   I have been contemplating cutting them again.  I have decided to resist the urge.   

What I did, and it was a few years back so it may not fit in with today's styles, was pull back about a three inch section and secure it with a 3" comb.  I'm sure you can come up with some beautiful designs to make them suitable for any occasion.  when I inserted the comb, it brought the hair forward just a bit to form a little puff (I considered it a little bit of body, since my hair is stick straight)   The sides from about the temple down were left down and I sometimes tucked them behind my ears.

Keep in mind, though, bangs are supposed to make you look younger, if you care about that..... 

Another way I tried, but didn't work for very long, was lightly gelling my bangs back so they fell in a cow-lick looking way on my forehead (Cindy Crawford look)  This seemed to raise the length of the bangs to allow them to stay out of my eyes, and I have a slight widows peak and wished for a more proment  one with this style.  It didn't work once my bangs became nose-tip length.

I haven't tried to hold it back with a comb yet.  Maybe I'll try that, just throwing it straight back doesn't look very good on me.

I twisted my grandaughters bangs and used the small butterfly clips. I hadn't thought of doing the twist thing on my head. It looks good!

LOL!  Are you sure you're not 40 in a 14-year old's body?  I would never have guessed you were so young!  You are a very articulate young lady :)

Back in the day I grew out my bangs...my hair is as straight and silky as yours...my solution was to put gel on the sections and roll them onto straws or some other small diameter round object and secure with a bobby pin for 15 or so minutes (long enough to do your make-up, brush your teeth, etc...) when you take them out you are left with great little curls that stay out of your eyes!

Patience is the key to growing hair.  Most people will grow about 1/2 inch each month.  This might differ with the seasons....if you live where there are cold winters, you may have less growth in the winter. I have found that I average about 5 inches per year, which includes one trim a year of about 3/4".

Anyone else notice this phenomenon?  My bangs seem
to grow twice as fast as my length.  I've decided for
the umpteenth time to grow them out.  My desire is
to have healthy, shiny, all one length hair to at least
my waist, no layers, fringes, ect.  So I try to grow them
out but I keep thinking I look better with them. But Now
I'm trying to grow them out and they're growing so fast
they're already past my eyebrows, and in my eyes.  Saw
all the good ideas on what to do with them.  The rest
of my hair hasn't grown like that.  Maybe thats a good thing.  I hope it isn't because my terminal lenght isn't
far away.  My hair has never been past BSL and now
it's a little past my shoulders.

I guess that could be a good thing if you want to
keep bangs you would'nt have to trim them so often!

I've heard that, too. Don't know if I believe it.  I guess
I'll see if they catch up to my longer hair.  They could
be growing faster because, being shorter, they'er
healthier and haven't been subject to all the torture
I put the last 3 inches of my hair through.  Maybe thats

Too much bang has long been a problem for me - My hair, though rather fine is very dense, especially in the bang area.  For decades I've used (everyone collectively shudder) Thinning shears on them - can you believe it ?!  For someone who has had waist to hip length  hair, it is amazing I have such a tool.  I have made it a regular habit to thin TO THE SCALP about 1/3 of my bangs every 2 months, due to their rapid growth and density.  It finally occurred to me that I'd have much greater mass in my length if I'd only stop torturing the poor short fringes and simply strive for a smaller section of bang (loud "Duh" here) 

... So, I started in fine sections about 8 years ago... the back 1/4 of my bangs have reached my length which just had (are you sitting down)a 5 inch trim over the summer.  The next 1/4 section is now below my shoulders (I wait a LONG time between "grow out" periods, obviously -  it takes me a while to forget how much I hate growing out bangs)

... so... it is now time for the next 1/4 section.... I find myself with far less patience this time - and have devised a creative but really pretty "bang catching" braid.  I have been stopped so many times by ladies wanting to know how I came up with this style... (boredom and loving to play with my hair while watching tv...... do other of you ladies find yourself re-creating styles you see on the tv???  As a nurse, I've got my hair up at work out of necessity - and have arrived at work with everything from elaborate victorian up-dos, to funky otherworldly design from a favorite sci-fi or fantasy shows....  My personal record is 246 consecutive workdays without a repeated hairstyle - One full calendar year... It started as a joke, but by the end of the year - it became quite a challenge!~!! I was taking photos of each new style just to keep track!  (yes, someone here who spends WAY too much time on her hair).... ha ha ha.  I can braid so rapidly, though, few styles take longer than 15 minutes total. (except the time I covered my entire skull in 1/4th inch braids - winding around and around - I looked like I was wearing the worlds most peculiar hair beany. I had 52 total braids, and their tiny diameter was quite a challenge - my hands were stiff for 2 days afterwards!!!)

Sorry - just finished a 12 hour shift - I do tend to ramble when I'm weary.....Back to the subject at hand....
I've devised a hair-hairband.  I part with both fingers just below each ear - 1.5 inches into my hair.  I then continue to "part" the hair up to the crown until my fingers meet.  I carefully separate this section in front, then secure the length in back with a quick, sloppy braid to keep it out of the way.  the front section is then brushed/combed forward over my face until smooth then over to the left (also, a significant tilt of the head to the left helps tremendously)... starting over the right ear, I make a 'lace braid', also called a half-french braid.  You begin by holding the left hand with elbow pointing behind you.  Right straight up and down (elbow pointing to ground) - [hands perpendicular to one another]... begin taking TINY sections from the front ONLY then completing braid without additional section with left hand (the ultimate appearance is: french braid from hairline to part, english-like braid on the back side)- continue taking section after section with right hand, while slowly straightening up your neck and tipping eventually to the right.  If you keep your left hand back far enough, the "depth" of the braid nearly 2 full inches - in effect, you are 'laying' the braid right over the part line - and when completed properly - the part becomes completely ivisible - when you reach the left ear, you should have exhausted your "extra" hair (no more to add in) and procede with a simple English braid to the end.  left at that - you have a lovely long style (once combing out the back) - with a hairband on the top and a braid along the left side of your face.  My "usual" follow up to the hair hair-band is to braid the remaining (back/length) hair in a high english braid which I then twist into a figure 8 or spiral bun, affix with one longlocks hairstick then bring up the small hairband braid and figure 8 twist it around the first stick, or around the border of the large braid and anchor with the second hairstick.

Wow.  Just read through that - does it make any sense?

I have hundreds of hair style photos, many with the hair hairband - but they are standard 4x6 paper photos, and I'm not sure how to show them on the board.... (love e-mail and checking long hair sites - [and buying LongLocks hairsticks - right susan? ha ha] - but am otherwise not very computer saavy)

This is a wonderful way to trap the short hairs with the long that are included in that front section......
I hope someone tries this, using my directions, and lets me know if I need to clarify it??????????????

I had the same problem with that when I tried the hair hairband the first time... For my first section with this style I take the largest "section".  From just below the ear to just below the temple - the final section is approximately one inch lower on the opposite side - and I've never noticed it looking lopsided - (I'm so picky [read obsessive compulsive] - I'll do a style as many times as it takes to get it "perfect" - thankfully - after braiding it daily since the age of 4, my fingers are so well-trained I seldom even have to look in the mirror any more to braid).

Taking such a big section to begin with, and laying all three segments together once, before taking the first "additional" piece, gives a firm and substantial start.  Hope this helps - let me know how it turned out!  I'd be eager to see this braid on someone else - your hair is SO beautiful and such a different color than mine - I'd love to see it.  

Just a note - our ladies with layers in the front could easily do this as well - (I was curious..... and tried it on my 15 year old son's hair to get a  trial effect on shorter hair - his is about 13 inches total from the crown - and was razor cut into 'shards' - [after elementary and middle school in private school, with a regulation length hair style - he has decided long hair is fun - and hasn't had it really cut, only styled since]......anyway, the braid worked perfectly - I thank him for his tolerance with this experiment. )

Re: my hair photos - I, too would love to put them "up" on the computer, if I can figure it out  someday.  Once in a while I'll go look at the photos for an idea - it's nice having a style gallery right at my fingertips when I'm feeling decidedly uncreative

ooo - just re-read your post - and forgot to mention the "rolling" dilema - If you concentrate upon keeping the 'back' hand (my left, but right hand if you're a lefty) with the elbow pointed as far back/behind me as possible - this way the braid 'behaves' better....and maintains an even depth from the hairline, rather than the end getting closer to the face as you braid.  happy braiding!

Well, I did the hair headband the other day and it looked pretty good this time. I didn't have any problems with it rolling over, I guess practice makes perfect! My hair is thicker on the left side so I'll probably start there when I use this style.

Now I just need to figure out what to do with my very short braid which hangs at mid-neck! It'll look better with longer hair.

I'll try and get a decent picture next time I do this style, I was alone at home and couldn't get the camera to focus on my hair.
