I can't believe you've gone from a shaved head to that length in less than a year! what great progress!

On the first of the month there is a thread here where everyone measures their hair....

You should do it and see just how quickly it is growing!

Starting completely over gives you a fantastic advantage over people like me who have significant damage on the ends because I was not properly caring for it when I started growing it. The front and sides can be difficult for the first 18 months. I used bobby pins in the hair behind my ears to help hold my bangs (fringe) in the tail. No one ever noticed or cared. How long are you going to grow it? Good luck!

Well I'm sure you know me from the Men's long hair hyperboard as Kenneth. Im growing it to at least shoulderblade length in the back. People are giving me crap about it, but I passed the length as I call it the point of no return. There ain't know way Im giving up 11 months of growth for people like my father. I told him while I respect his rules, I am a grown man and can make my own decisions.

Your hair length should be your own choice (as long as you are an adult and not in a job that clearly states how your hair can or cannot be worn for health or safety reasons).

Keeping your hair clean and not unruly will help your father and/or others accept your decision. As a male growing out your hair, you have more obstacles than a female, but today's society is more accepting of long hair on men than it was 20 years ago.

I got a question, I have been thinking about getting my ears pierced, where should I get it done. Salons that cater to it, or any run of the mill operation. Should I pierce 1 or 2? Is it still gay to have both pierced, I remember when I was in Highschool not so long ago. most guys had only their right ear peirced, not both.

And no I would never peirce my ears myself, too much possiblity of screwing up.

I live in West Michigan so the climate here is accepting of almost anything, but I don't want to appear gay.

Hi Ken, nice to meet you!
I do have some experience with body piercing, having it done and doing to others, so I can lend you my advice on it. You are best to take yourself to a shop that specializes in body piercing, even though it is just your ear(s). If you were to go to a salon, or one of those booths in the mall they would probably pierce your ear using a piercing gun, and there is no way of steriling those. They may wipe them off with alcohol or something, but that is not enough to kill any viruses that can be passed thru blood, especially now-adays you've got to be exxxxxxxxxxtra careful! A piercing shop would use a 'single-use needle', meaning it has never touched another person, or their blood, they should be sealed in a blister pack, and opened in front of you. This is a much more sanitary procedure, the needle is then discarded and never re-used, as opposed to the gun wich is used over and over again. As to piercing one or both, that is your call. It is definetly acceptable to have both ears pierced for a man, and no it doesn't make you gay...being gay makes you gay! But I think the "technical" rule for that is left/straight, right/gay, if that matters to you. Hope I helped some, GL growing your hair as well! -maggie

I pretty much am only going to peirce my ears, any other peircings are out. I don't need to tell you how idiotic nose peircings are on Females or Males. I'm very much concerned with sanitary issues, one of the reasons why I'm one of the few males in my city without any tatoos.

WEll I have been hiding hairclips behind my ears no one ever notices, they blend nicely with my hair. Im beginning to like the ponytail style a whole lot more now. Hopefully within a few months I can abandon the hairclips as they tear at my hair, if I'm not careful

ON the plus side, I made a vow I would cut my hair, when Bush stopped his corrupt policies. This has made me determined to grow my hair to show oppisition to the military culture and the warmongering that results.

I truly hope Bush keeps his cool, unlike in the second debate, and keeps the Trigger finger off countries that have not attacked us.

Bottom line if you are a bush supporter 18 - 35 not disabled, I think you should enlist. Any action other than that is a sign of cowardice. Don't be like Bush and Cheney who supported the Vietnam war, but looked for ways to avoid having to fight it

Well it seems I have been warned to not stray in political discussions, So I will leave it at that..

On the plus side 4 years is long enough for to get to midback or even to waist length, so I will see what happens from there.

I know there are plenty of Vietnam era hippies, not that I'm a hippy or dress like one, that never cut their hair, so I will see where I am in 4 years
