Why is this happening?
Dec 30th, 2008 at 9:56pm

I just got a trim of a half inch a couple of days ago after for the first time in almost six months. After a day or less of getting the trim, my hair went back to feeling dry at the ends for some reason. It kind of feels brittle at the ends, like the exact opposite of soft and smooth. I don't have any split ends but have recently spent alot of time outdoors in the really harsh weather, like minus 20 without the winsheild going sledding and things like that. But I almost always make sure that my hair is covered up with a hat and scarf or neckwarmer. Sometimes even a bellaclava. So my question is, why did my hair get so dry at the ends all of the sudden? It shouldn't be like this, right, if I just got a trim? I have some leave in conditioner and EVOO on the ends right now, and it feels much better, but I'm afraid that it will just go right back to how it was before. What can I do to make the ends go back to normal-smooth and soft?

Thanks Smiley

What I would do is oil my length and especially the ends with jojoba oil in the morning and at night.  See if that helps you.
Winter and the cold temps. really rob hair of moisture so we need to pay extra attention to our locks when it's frigid.

Another thing that also helps is oiling you hair heavly the night before you wash it.  I use emu oil and coconut oil as I found them to be the best:)  HTH too! Wink

thanks for the comments! Grin
The only kind of oil that I have right  now is olive oil  Sad. Do you think I could use that? If not, where do I buy jojoba oil? And I buy coconut oil and emu oil at the grocery store, right? Huh
In the meantime, I think I'll deep condition today.

No problem! Wink  Sure use the olive oil.  Depending were you live you can get the jojoba oil and emu oil at a health food store.  Coconut oil you might be able to get in a supermarket geared to ethinic foods.  I get all mine at the SuperStore here in Canada Smiley

ohh...okay. Thanks for the info. Smiley I think I'll try oiling my ends heavily tonight. But do I just leave the oil in my hair be, just like that? Or do I cover it with a towel. I think I might put a towel over my pillow when I sleep tonight so I wont get oil all over the place. Tongue
Thanks! Cheesy

If you have a Trader Joe's, they carry Jojoba Oil.

I live in a pretty small town with only 10000 people. We don't have a trader joe's but thanks for the suggestion  Smiley
