Curls are hiding my progress!
Mar 13th, 2009 at 7:51pm

When I got pregnant I had thought and hoped that I might hit classic length or darn close by the time I had the baby with all the extra hormones.  Truly I haven't spent much time thinking about it since I haven't gotten out a tape measure in months, but on days that I wore my hair down I would take stock of where I was at.  I was starting to get bummed that I really hadn't had much growth--still sits right at my pelvic bones when dry.  But the other day in the shower I realized that it is actually creeping past my tailbone when wet.  At this rate I'll have to grow my hair to my knees before it will look like its classic length when dry but oh well.   Roll Eyes

I really do enjoy my waves, I'm just surprised at how much they are 'eating' my length.

I know what you mean my curls do that too. Tongue  I wore my hair straight and my friend Liz was like Oh! your hair is sooo long in the back!

UGH!  Me, too.  It is the frustrating part of textured hair-shrink factor.

I know several curly-heads that state their length in 2 terms - dry/natural and wet/pulled straight.  There can be quite a difference between the two, as you well know.

It's just one of those things that comes with curly/wavy hair.  I have to say, it's one of the few things that actually annoys me about my hair.
Has anyone else ever noticed the curl factor of their hair changing depending on how recently you've treated it?  When I went to the tropics last year it got curlier, which I expected, but even here where the humidity remains the same, my hair seems to get less curly if I put gel on it or if I deep condition it.  Has anyone else noticed this?

My hair is softer and less curlier after I deep condition it,too.  It also get curlier and heavier when it is humid outside.
