How to lighten/brighten hair
Feb 6th, 2003 at 1:02am

My hair is many shades of blonde with a bit of grey.  It is about waist length.  The bottom 10 inches was lightened. I don't want to dye/color my hair, but would like to brighten it up.  Any suggestions? ???

Rinse with camomille tea or apply lemon juice and let it work under the sun. But this my dry out your hair a little.

Will this work on dark brown hair also? My hair goes light brown if I spend a lot of time in the sun but that also gives me split ends and dryness so I was also looking for a way to lighten it. I want it either light brown or almost-black, because this is kind of in-between and a bit annoying!

I used lemon juice on my hair when I was younger and it was very drying! Tongue  Leia, if your hair lightens naturally in the sun, lemon juice would probably give you either red or golden highlights.

Do you rinse out the camomile tea, or use it as the final rinse?  Where would you purchase camomile tea or the leaves for the tea?

Ooh golden sounds good!! But I don't like the bit about drying... my hair used to be very dry and it took several deep conditioning treatments for me to get it into the condition it is now! What I do for temporary color is I have these hair mascara sticks which are pretty cool. I dyed my hair with red streaks twice and then covered them up with my natural color, and right now it's all natural except it goes red in the sun because of the henna  Smiley.

I donīt use camomille tea because my hair is reddish brown and this recipe is for blondes. In Germany you can buy this tea everywhere because it is used for aching stomach. It is used as final rinse.

Thanks for the info.  I guess I will need to check out a health food store to see if I can find some.  BTW, your hair looks beautiful - so thick and shiny with lovely curls.

I love the hair mascaras too...I have blond, copper, and a red.  They are fun and the color washes right out.

The other great thing about them is that the don't dry your hair out.   Smiley
