Since we all know each other through this I thought it might be nice to get to know each other better - non-hair related. So what kind of things do you guys like to do? What are your hobbies? (sorry I'm not trying to pry  Cheesy)

I love cross stitch! My mum and I do it all the time. I love reading, too, but find I only have time for it on the weekends, because weekdays are full of school work and practising music. Bikerbraid, what do you mean by tat?

Tatting is a method of tieing knots in thread to make lace and lace edgings.  It can be done with a shuttle or a needle.  It was more popular long ago and was used to make doilies, lace collars, and lace edgings for handkerchiefs.

Wow! It takes a lot of patience and tenacity to be able to work on one specific thing for long amounts of time. Of course... if you *enjoy* it, it's not hard at all! Same with me playing the piano... I can go for hours and hours and hours and stop only when someone stops me!  Tongue

No, you're right and I *do* enjoy it tremendously.  After being a writer and computer geek for so many years, it's fabulous to be able to do this now, I am very fortunate.  And even though I am working on "one thing," being a cottage artisan involves a lot more than just making hairsticks for the boutique.  There's vintage crystals and beads to be hunt down and bought, tons of custom work, website design and maintenance, lots of paperwork and email, designing new styles, writing content for the site, marketing and advertising, shipping, customer appreciation goodies, all kinds of stuff.  I am never bored and I am never DONE!

Hobbies.....I like to knit, do cross-stitch, travel, sail little sailboats (like sunfish), paint (anything walls, murals, paintings), collect antiques like Noritake's Azalea (my china pattern) crystal steamware, and fabric.  I'm an interior designer so the fabric habbit is added to by that fact.  Oh yea I sew too.

I did not read this before- think Iīm getting old Wink
My hobbies are reading, horseriding, cooking (and eating *lol*) and everything that has to do with oriental culture. For example I speak Turkish and collect scarfs with oya which is a very special handmade lace trim that can have a special meaning.

Wow E., you'd love it at my house.  We collect vintage kimono, mostly the really extravagant ones (uchikake and furisode).  We have tons of orientalia scattered around and when we build our new house next year it's definitely going to be a Japanese design.

Here's some pics of a few of our uchikake (wedding kimono), though the fanciest ones are all packed away.  I told my hubby that if we have to evacuate, SAVE THE KIMONO!  Hey, I have my priorities!  LOL!

WOW! Those kimonos are gorgeous!  I have some silk jackets from Japan and Korea that my father acquired when he was in the Navy during WWII and Korea, but they are NOTHING like what you gals have.

I'm with you Rapunzel, SAVE THE KIMONO!  [You could ship them to my safe midwest location for safe-keeping  8) )
