washing thick hair
May 27th, 2003 at 5:05pm

I have very thick, long hair that is also curly... I feel that when I am waching it, I am not cleansing all of my scalp because of the amount of hair i have, or that I am getting the shampoo over my whole scalp, but not rinsing it all out.  I love my thick long hair, but sometimes it can be a real pain!!!!!  If somebody could help me out, that would be great!
Thanks Grin

First of all, you might consider diluting your shampoo a bit so that it will rinse out easier.  Then use a vinegar/water rinse to make sure the shampoo is completely removed.  You can then condition the ends of your hair and rinse with cool/cold water.  These steps should ensure all the product has been removed from your hair and leave it soft and shiny.

Have you tried putting your hair into four verrrry loose braids first, then washing your scalp while keeping the length of your hair in the four braids?

I read this somewhere else and it works well on my hair. Of course, my hair is not nearly as long as yours, but it may be worth a try. Good luck.

To make sure I get all of my scalp I part it with my fingers and keep washing in sections until its clean. It take a little longer but it gets the job done. Wink

OH and also when you rinse use the spray nozzle if you have one and hold it close to your scalp like they do at a solon and that usualy works very well.
