Has anyone tried "Naturtint"?
Jan 27th, 2004 at 12:30am

The one thing I can't seem to give up is coloring my hair. I'm probably over 50% gray with a natural light reddish brown that went ashier as my hair got grayer.

I love myself strawberry blonde. I've given up shampooing (I do CO) and blowdrying. I'd like to try a more "natural" hair color then the "L'Oreal Open" I've been using, since my hair is now quite dry.

Anyone tried this brand?

thanks!

Here is a site in the UK that has the most info about it...

http://www.naturesdream.co.uk/html/naturtint.html

I'm in the US however, and ordered it from MyVitanet. Other then the site above, there isn't a whole lot of information.

I know I need something other then the Drug store brands (they're frying my hair) and Henna is out (It turned my hair green last time I tried it)

About your hair turning green...you may have tried to henna your hair after recently coloring it with either permanent color or non-permanent color.  Here is a site that offers excellent info about using henna, and how to avoid problems like you experienced: www.everydayhenna.com...by the way, if your disastrous henna experiment was within the last 3 months, I wouldn't recommend coloring your hair again.  you might experience the same problem coloring over hair that has been hennaed.

I know that site Smiley That's where I order my body henna from Smiley

Yeah, I know why my hair turned green..it was the dye I already had on it. I tried a strand test that turned out okay, but I must have done something different when I did the whole head. Yuk. I had to cut it all off then, it was two years ago.

Hello! I've been a lurker for a little while now, and found this post while doing my own search for a more natural dye (I don't want red or black so henna and indigo are out...).

I've used Naturtint a three times so far, the Dark Chestnut Brown, which is almost black on my normally medium ash brown hair. So far my hair has reacted pretty well to it (I have almost waist length hair).

However, it does have Para-phenylenediamine in it. I found some information on the hennaforhair.com site about it, but I haven't read all of it yet. I'm a slacker.

I am now on a search for a more natural dye that will give me dark brown...

These are the ingredients:

Color: Peg-2 Oleamine, Water, Cocamide Dea, Alcohol Denat, Propylene Glycol, Oleic Acid, Ethanolamine, Sodium Sulfite, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein (Triticum Vulgare, Soy, Corn, Avena Sativa), Sotium Ascorbate, Tetrasodium Edta, Fragrance, p-Phenylenediamine, 4-Chlororesorcinol, 2-Amino-4-Hytroxyethylaminoanisole Sulfate N, N, Bis-(2-Hydroxyethyl)-p-Phenylenediamine Sulfate, m-Aminophenol, 4-Amino-2-Hydroxytoluene.

Color Developer: Water, Hydrogen Peroxide, Cetyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Laureth-3, Ceteareth-20, Oxyquinoline Sulfate.
