Don't know what to do with my hair!

Smiley Hi everyone!

I'm really here to ask for some advice on what to do with my hair.  I've just started at a uni by the sea, where there are lots and surfers, and being from well in land and just starting an Ocean Science degree I'm loving the whole surf style.  So, I have longish hair, that's currently layered.  I'd like to get a half head of highlights, but I'm not sure how to ask for a 'surfer do'! Does anyone know how they're actually cut? The girls look like they just have long straight hair, but is there any layering?  Would it look boring just one length?

???

Thanks in advance!

Ocean Science sounds interesting.

I have no idea what to suggest for the cut.  If you can find a picture (or take one), you could take it to a salon to show them.

One length is not necessarily boring.  One length makes it much easier to do other styles; just ask anyone who has grown out their layers.   Cheesy

Thanks, my course is great fun!

It is usual for the hair to look as if it's cut in a curve at the back, ie not so it's just chopped straight, but sort of graduated?  I don't want anything too severe!

Some people like to have their hair cut straight across, others prefer a slight U shape to it.  I've found my hair tends towards the U shape on its own (since I trim so seldom).

I think the shape your hair takes depends on what you like, how long and how thick your hair is, and at what point you started growing it long.  There is no right or wrong answer - just the one that makes you feel good.
