A New Center Part For Me
Jan 1st, 2005 at 2:10pm

This is only the third day that I have parted my hair in the center and I am really loving it.

My hair feels thicker on both sides.  I don't have that shorter on the side opposite the part.  I have waves and a cowlick on either side and I have a widows peak, and this just seems to make my face look even more heart-shaped than it already is, and I like this.

I grew up with a relative that despised middle parts.  I guess I just now got up the nerve to try it anyway.  I wore it once to a ballgame in Jr. High School and got lots of compliments, but never wore it again because of problems at home over it.

This feels incredibly liberating and natural for my hair.

Any one else prefer a center part?

Very few people can wear center parts and look really good. I'll bet you look fabulous SF! You've got the symmetrical waves and a widow's peak to compliment it!

My hair tends to part slightly to the left. I usually don't force it any other way because then my hair throws a fit and rebels. I used to wear my hair parted down the middle donkey's years ago...but it didn't look particulary good on me because I have a mass of baby bangs that make me look silly and cowlick on only one side.

I like to wear my hair parted down the middle when I've got my twin "farm-girl braids" going on. Makes it look authentic! Can't do this often though. Only when my hair is fresh dyed. Otherwise I have "rootage"!  Tongue

SF, I agree with Rua - few people can wear center parts and look good so it's really special that you can.  There are a lot of updos that require a center part that you'll be able to take advantage of, too Grin
My hair also likes to part naturally a little to the left of center.  I prefer to have no part though as I also have a widow's peak and it seems to define the hairline better with my hair swept back from my face.  (I also like to keep my hair out of my face) Generally I think I look better either with no part or with some bangs to soften the frame of my face...
I really get impatient with bangs  Angry they seem to be the right length for only a week or two and then they have to be trimmed again, so I'll have them trimmed too short just to avoid having to trim them so often and that looks dorky Embarrassed  At this point I have been growing them out with the rest of my hair and have gotten past the worst stage of bang-growing  Grin

My natural part is about 1/2" to the side of center.  I've long since given up forcing a true center part.  I just angle the part from the natural front to the true center by the time I get to the crown.  It is hardly noticable that it isn't really straight.

If I part my hair, I center part it. It looks natural and very nice. Often if I make a bun, I do a center part to front -not all the way, just some two inches. I find it very nice.
Side parts look just a bit weird on me, and I have never actually done one except experimentally.

Lately, I've mostly just pulled my hair back though. Don't know why...

I generally center part, although will sometimes do a short side part for a bun or english braid.

A center part seems very direct to me, and lately I love that look.  Just me, take it or leave it.   8)

I've always had a center part, at least since I was a teen. The center part tends to minimize my high hairline, while a side part would make me look like I had a bald spot.

Wow!
What great responses!  You have all made me feel so good!

I guess I just needed some support that it was "okay" for me to wear a center part, which is my natural part.

Thanks so very much!!! Grin Grin Grin

I have always had a natural center part, I can't part it any other way because it always ends up parting itself in the center.  Undecided If I part it on the side by the end of the day it ends up in the center, even pulling it back with no part, it still ends up parting itself in the center...oh well.  Wink Grin
