Galadriel's wedding plans
Jan 16th, 2005 at 3:13pm

So. This will be my wedding plan base on the site. My wedding will be hopefully next winter- this year will bring some other major changes in my life, so we haven't concluded dates finally. But wedding planning has started. It's going to be a small, non-religious but still beautiful and romantic event.

My hair will be next winter in about BSL- maybe little longer. My big challenge is, that I'm intending to do my hair myself- no stylists with their goos and teasing ideas. I'm not going to wear a veil, just an ornate bun decorated with lovely hairsticks.

Ideas, wedding advice and how-to instructions are muchly welcome.   Smiley

First question: I'd like to have a custom made LL hairstick TRIO for my wedding. When should I place my order?

Congratulations!!!

I love simple hair styles for weddings.  It can be one less thing worry about on the special day.  I'll keep my eye out for good styles for you.

As for the special order - I'd recommend placing it as soon as possible and let Susan know when you need it by.  I know she has a TON of special orders.

Galadriel,
Congratulations!  How exciting Smiley
I suggest making a file folder of pictures of stuff you like from any and all sources.  That way you'll have a reference and maybe you'll like part of one style and some of another and you can put them together in your own unique way!
I married the same man twice (long story-and no, I've never been divorced), my first dress was off the rack antique replica and my second one was custom made from ultra suede, covered in lace with a big, flowy organza coat that was inspired by an Indonesian fashion magazine.
I would also recommend meditating on it.  Check in with your intuition to help you express your true Self.
As for hair-experiment, experiment, experiment!  And check the library for hairstyles though the ages.
Good Luck!!!

Thanks, both.  Smiley

I'm going to design my wedding gown myself and find a seamstress to make it. I'm large, and though wedding dresses are available in variety of sizes, they are often designed smaller people in mind. Same design that is flattering for a slim lady, looks just weird on me. And I want a dress that makes me look beautiful. So, pens and paper are calling! Once again, I'm taking my inspiration from scifi and fantasy. If any of you is familiar with Babylon 5 series, I've got ideas from Minbari (mainly Delenn's) dresses (for those more familiar with Lord of the Rings, something like the style that Elrond and other Elf men wear, is the thing I'm after).

BB, I was somehow thinking that Susan would be busy. I'll order right when I know the colors.

Good for you for taking the dress design into your own hands.  I don't have the talent for that, but if you do - go for it!  I'll send lots of creative vibes your way to help.  Grin

CONGRATULATIONS! You're doing the smart thing by starting your plans now while you have plenty of time to make sure everything is just the way you want it.  Wink

I think you should consider an attachment. A few strategically placed curls with some little flowers in can be very attractive in a dressy updo.

I think that my today's do would make a great wedding style. My journal will probably be dozens of pages by next year, so I add the instructions here. This is easy, romantic- perfect style.

1.Part hair from center. French braid both sides, as long as the "french part" goes.
2. Combine the ends to one ponytail, twist to a cinnabun.
3. Add bun net, secure with a pair of hairsticks.

Another variation of this style:

French braid each side.
When hair meets in back, combine and re-divide into 3 sections.
Braid remaining hair.
Coil braid into a bun.
Secure with gorgeous LongLocks HairSticks.

I've tried that style as it sounds lovely...but the "coil the braid"-  part is still unreachable for me. My hair is still too short to make a decent braided bun. Luckily, there's still time for it to grow before the wedding- maybe the braided bun style will work then.  Smiley

I like that style, and always get compliments on the variations you can do.  I'd love to see pictures of your style!

I'm thinking of doing something similar for my ceremony, either a french or lace classic to a bun, but leaving the back down.

Have to ask T to take pictures sometime- I'm still not good taking pictures of my own back of head.

Here's another idea. The "fan" style from longhairloom.
http://www.network54.com/Forum/message?forumid=242462&messageid=1109583515

I can just barely make it now, and by the time of wedding it should be easy. It looks good and makes the hair look bigger. Cheesy

That is a nice, classic style - you can't go wrong with it.

IF you're going to do the double-French-braid-to-bun thing, a couple of accent braids or twists (a la dreamweaverbraiding.com) would really dress it up even more.  actually, accent braids dress up any kind of bun!  Best wishes in finding your hairstyle and dress!

Time for new pictures of my styling attempts! Excuse flyaways and mess- it was a windy day and I didn't use any kind of styling aid, even aloe vera gel.

...
I love this one- a strong candidate for wedding style.

...
A backup plan in case I'm too nervous or hair is behaving badly: French twist with Ficcare Primavera Maximas Gold.

...
A sort of peacock twist- I pinned the ends to curls, added a couple of pearls and a tiny flower.

...
A bit too messy chignon. Hairsticks are LL Blue Gems NeonStix. In case I want something blue...

[Edited by Bikerbraid to fix the "peathingy" picture - thanks to the profanity filter, the name of the original picture was changed]
