Coconut Oil or Crisco for Very Dry Ends
Jan 20th, 2005 at 2:08am

Today I got the bright idea to try Crisco shortening (the solid kind in the can--yes I am desperate, the frizz is frustrating) on the straw-like ends of my hair.  I put a dab on my palms, rubbed them together, and pressed it onto the dry ends.  It seemed to make the ends hang straighter and neater--not splayed out with static!!!  Better than the olive oil and even baby oil I tried!

So--I'm going grocery shopping tomorrow and am wondering, is that COCONUT oil they sell in the tubs with the other cooking oil similar to Crisco?  Is it just as heavy?  Is it a solid? Does it smell like coconut?

Thanks alot,
Annelise

It's lighter than Crisco, but solid, it melts in your hands, and the one you buy in the cooking oil section of the supermarket doesn't smell like anything at all.
