Ginger Root?
Jan 20th, 2005 at 3:47am

I'm just wondering if anyone's tried fresh ginger with anything. I've noticed it at the store, and am wondering if I could boil it in water or grind it up and combine it with something else. Does anyone have any suggestions, or know what its properties are concerning hair?

TIA-

Cairn - what a good idea  Shocked

I love the smell (and taste) of fresh ginger!

I don't have any answers - but will do a bit of searching - maybe one of the others, here might have an answer?

(I love starting my morning with fresh carrot/ginger juice - it would be fun to have more than one use!)

well ... it's a natural fungicide i think. maybe it could be used in anti-dandruff recipes.

ok... I checked a few places - and found a few sites on the uses of ginger.... I haven't tried any of these personally - it's just here for you to check out:

1.  A Chinese folk remedy recommends rubbing the cut root of the plant on the scalp to stop hair loss

2.  Long locks hair care cook book - Ginger dandruff treatment

3.  Remedies to deal with pre-mature Greying of Hair

4.  .........On return in Paris, I began to work on developing my treatment containing fresh ginger crushed in a mixer, to which I added vegetable extracts and essential oils. The result was surprising: tonicity, brightness, flexibility and fullness of the hair. On all the types of hair the result was the same ".

Great links, nightowl! Thanks for finding those. I'm hoping it'll help me with dandruff, when I find the time to try it.
