When i was younger, I had very long soft thick hair. I was like around 12-13, now i am 18 and i have lost some of my hair and it isn't as thick and long.

Can you please give me any types on what i can eat or do to bring my hair to it's length it once was I'd greatly appreciate it!

Do you periodically get your hair trimmed?  Each individual hair grows at a different rate, and over time your ends can wear and break, causing it to feel thin overall.

Stress can incur extra shedding so maybe some of your hair loss is because of that.  A few years ago I was taking four upper-division summer classes at my university and started to loose a lot of hair because I was so stressed out.  It's taken a while, but my hair's thickness is pretty much back to normal.  Diet can also affect hair growth and shedding.  Make sure you're getting proper nutrition.

As for vitamins, etc., a multivitamin is helpful, as are supplements such as biotin, MSM, and silica.  I take biotin and flaxseed oil everyday.  If you do start taking supplements, give them about three months to work.  Oh, but you should talk to a doctor first before you start taking supplements.  HTH.  Good luck!

I know exactly what its like, Luvlife. I am quite upset because my hair was unbearably thick as a child and now it seems much thinner..I also had ringlets I woulnd't mind seeing again.

I have inquired about supplements also, while I do eat well, I want a little extra boost. Even if they don't end up working for me, I'll lie to myself. lol Good luck. Smiley

First off Welcome!

Hair does change throughout our lives but it's certainly a good idea to try to find out WHY.

Yours has changed that much in five years.  Certainly seeing a doctor, specifically for that but also in general seems like a good idea.

So many things can cause hair changes i.e., hormones, stress, medication, diet, weight loss (no matter how healthily achieved) and of course some diseases.

I'm only talking about how it's growing from your scalp not any damage that may have been done to the hair.

Most causes can be controlled or reversed once you know what the problem is, especially at your age.

I'm a big believer in vitamins but first see if your health is good...g

Thank you all for the help  Smiley

I'm buying some products to put in my hair, after looking at the whole forum. It is amazing. About the vitamins.

Is there a bottle that contain msm, biotin and silica that I can buy in any drug stores or do I have to buy them separately. Like Walgreens for example.

Thank you once again.

As far as I know MSM, biotin, and silica and a lot of other ingredients are usually combined in pills made to grow long hair, such as Ultra Nourishair from GNC. I haven't seen any brands that only combine those three ingredients so if you only want MSM, biotin, and silica you might have to buy them seperately. I've only been looking into supplements for two months so there's probably a brand I don't know of that only has the three things you want.

No prob! I don't think there's an age restriction on the Ultra Nourishair. Um, as a precaution, I strongly suggest cutting the those pills in half before you take them. I took one for the first time on Sunday and choked on it.

It's available at health food stores, no restrictions, but listen to Juri Cheesy ...g
