It's UP!
Aug 12th, 2005 at 1:37pm

(crossposted to my journal)

Another first today for me along the road to long hair...today I am wearing my hair UP!  It's just long enough for the claw barrette and I have a ga-jillion of those small snap clips holding my layers at bay but, by golly, it's up!

It's only been what...6 months since I officially started growing out my hair and already I can pull it up off my neck.  This is exciting stuff!  I can't remember how long it's been since I was able to put my hair up in a "do".  I just can't find the right words to describe how excited and proud I feel at this accomplishment.  And I owe this success to this site and all of the amazingly wonderful people here.  I feel a tear of gratefulness coming on!  *sniffle*   Grin

Congrats! I think it is exciting and special that you now can wear your hair up ( even if it is barely). When I wear my hair down(which is hardly ever, I have three small children) people are all the time saying how pretty it is and they wish their hair was that long (HTK), I just tell them to quit cutting it and it will grow, duh, but most usually they look at me as if I'm a freak. Well I am a freak, but whats that got to do with my hair? DUNNO, oh well, keep up the good work. I love this site too, I'm pretty new to it, I wish I had found it long time ago (6years to be exact) before I quit cutting.

That's awesome!!   Grin

Your hair is probably incredibly healthy since you started long hair care while your hair was shorter.

I must admit, my hair is very healthy since it's pretty much virgin--never been permed, dyed or fried.  And thanks (again) to the expert advice posted here, I think my hair is as healthy as it's ever been.

Thanks for all of the encouragement, gang!   Kiss

Congratulations Trisha!  I think these kind of milestones are so much more satisfying even than taking measurements, numbers are just numbers, but putting hair up is way  8) 8) 8)

Congratulations for reaching a major milestone! Everyone knows that when you are able to put your hair up, it's getting long! Cheesy

It's all easier from now on.  Grin Besides claw clip, you can now make also little ponytails and maybe even start practicing French braiding (do a center part and try make two braids at first- it requires less hair).

In a couple months, you will be able to make your first simple bun (check instructions from hairstyles forum). Your saving plan sounds very wise. Don't forget to transfer  the amount you used to spend in monthly stylist visits to your hairtoy budget.  Wink

Thanks, everyone, for sharing this event with me.  Sometimes only fellow longhairs can appreciate these things.   Wink

I'm glad you like my advice.  Grin

Seriously though, a VERY significant part of my hairtoy budget is actually money I don't need any longer for monthly stylist visits and shopping expensive styling products and shampoos. You can't believe how much I used to use hairspray alone! Shocked I can't believe it either. Roll Eyes Not to forget shine spray that came in tiny, expensive bottles. Roll Eyes My fellow student friends always wonder how I can afford all the stuff I carry in my hair, happily without realizing the amount of money they spend in stylist visits, colors, products etc. I'm certain that when you start counting how much money your longhair routine saves, you will notice that you're saving much more than $10 a month.
