Copied my "review" of Karen Ribble's "Braid Your Own Hair" booklet and DVD from thread below.
http://www.braidedimage.com/Most of it is basic stuff - which I need - she does french classic, dutch classic, french basic, dutch basic, lace braid, crown braid, up-the-back, and 5 strand braids. She shows many of more complicated braids with both the dutch braiding technique and the french braiding technique (excepting the 5 strand, of course).
She does them "live" on the DVD so you get to see them being done and she explains the hand-holds very well. I liked being able to see the "live" version, explains it better than pictures in a book, but now I think I can use the book for a reminder while trying them out.
I've been french braiding, but I think her hand-holds will work better than mine in the long run if I want to expand my repertoire.
I'm glad I got the set and not just the book. The order came quickly too (about a week).
Edit to add: she also describes how to do and use accent braids, and gives brief pics/descriptions of some of the variations of the braids ie. "Queen Ann", "the Cage"
