I've never heard of using cellophane before. Do you mind explaining how it's supposed to be used?

I'd never heard of this treatment.  Doing a google search, it shows up as a salon treatment to help prolong coloring services and make the hair shiny.  It definately coats the hair.  Cellophane is made from wood pulp, so I'm gonna take a wild guess here, and say this is probably similar to a henna glossing.  However, I have no idea if the coating is "permeable" like henna, or if it is more like a silicone coating that chokes the hair.

Anyone have more information?

I've had several cellophanes done on my hair.  I always liked the results!  It did make my hair very shiney.  The last time I had a cellophane was at least 8 years ago, long before I went looking for split ends.  The beautitian that did my hair in Michigan was the only one who's used it on me.  I live in Arizona now, and my "current" stylist never mentioned it.
I would probably get it again if it was mentioned.

I can't admit to knowing how those procedures work, but I can say that if you're trying to "beef up" your hair and add shine, why not try a "translucent" henna?

When I henna I mix two packages of colored with two of translucent henna.  My hair always feels really thick and is soo shiney afterwards.

If you wanted to try this without a lot of fuss/effort, why not try a Hask's Henna and Placenta treatment?  (I get mine at Sally's Beauty Supply)  It's all mixed up and all you have to do is apply the packet to your hair...

I just brought up these suggestions because well... going to the salon for any treatment has always meant a huge bill for me.     Yikes!

It's actually been around awhile and I believe it's a glossing/sealing type treatment that washes off gradually???

Yea, thats why I onyl do it a few times a yera nd give my hair a smuch nmeeeded oils as possible. But it is often unfortunate forme because it is often wet here. so my hair goes back into soft waves( which are nice too but I payed for a pin straght look).
Anyways, I was wondring if this cellophane can cause my hair to break since its fragile.

Cellophanes is a product made by Sebastian.  It is a vegetable dye containing no ammonia or peroxide, although it may contain alcohol.

I have had Cellophanes before, and personally I didn't think they were that great and not only that, they were drying too.   Supposedly it "seals" the hair shaft and gives more shine.  I didn't notice that much of a difference, and whatever color enhancement resulted washed out very quickly.  Overall, for over $40 it wasn't worth it, imo.  If you decide to do it, see if you can get the Cellophanes product (that may take a bit of doing as it's only available to salons) and do it at home.

If your hair is fragile, I would (personally) not recommend this product.  And I agree with you completely about the "long" hairstyles.  They do look like they've got something missing!
