Cleaning BB brush

I saw somone mention the cleaning of a boar bristle brush. I used to use shampoo...but I became lazy. Does it really matter?

It might not matter, but I'm not a BBB expert. What are you cleaning it with now?

It doesn't matter much. I think the key thing is to degunk and dehair it with a cheap plastic comb. Just use the fine teeth and dislodge particles of gunk and other product crap, along with shed hair.

If it gets visibly crappy, then that's when I'd shampoo it (leave it to dry with the bristles-down so the water doesn't remain in the base of the bristles)

i still didn't find a brush that can remove all gunk. usually i just shampoo the thing (i put it in a big glass). then i shake the thing to remove most water and just leave them (bristles up). they dry very quickly.

I only own 2 BBB's and the way I clean them may not be entirely orthodox! But then, I hardly ever use them...

To begin, I run one of my cheap store-bought combs through the bristles to de-hair it. Next, I clean it by hand with regular ol' antibacterial hand soap. And then...I toss them into the dishwasher - woohoo!

And there you have it. BBB-icide.  Undecided

And the dishwasher doesn't ruin the glue or anything?

I like to pick out all the extra hair i can with a cheapy plastic pocket comb, run a hot tap- and use some liquid castile soap on the bristles. I wet the brush, and drag my fingers through the bristles to form up a lather- and rinse it out. I keep scrubbing at the bristles with my fingers till all the soap is gone - give it one last rinse, and pat it dry- and let it sit with bristle side down overnight.
